  1. I'd say a 16" is too nose heavy on this saw. A 15 balances nicely but a 13 gives just that little faster chain speed. Have run both lpx and bpx and feel they run better in hardwoods on bpx or stihl semi chis. If your bashing softwoods all day then a full chis flys.
  2. Hmmm maybe the prices are about right but lacking service then. Does anybody else recommend any other companies?? Figuring it would only take about a week?
  3. Has anyone on here used these guys?? Based in Tipton and from what I can find are the nearest place to me (Kent) that can make a tipper back from my truck.
  4. I saw that and it looks ideal, know where's there's a posch for £1200 but can't figure how to power it.
  5. I run tuffsaw blades in both my small and large bandsaw. Both run ripper blades that are 3tpi I believe. Last around a month getting daily use before I swap them out.
  6. Cheers bud. Definitely something to consider.
  7. Figured there must be a way around it as others must be in the same situation??
  8. Does such a machine exist?? Can't really stretch to a tractor and pto peeler also don't have somewhere to store one.
  9. Get a 13 or 15" Sugi bar and stihl chain and you'll be a happy wood cutter
  10. I desperately need a new pair of walking and rec/hand cutting climbing boots. Narrowed it down to the evo 2 and red clip n step. Now one pairs £150 and the others £180 but any recommendations?? Ideally prefer them to be a bit waterproof but am also tight.
  11. Either get to the apf as others have said or if your near to London a visit to fr Jones is worth a visit. You will want to try on boots, trousers and harness.
  12. Use arborisk, need to change my policy and hoping it's easy.
  13. Use the 120/106 daily for carving and have a few of the orange handle £5 knives in the truck for everything else.
  14. Any photos as I'm just outside of Ashford and know a lot of local guys.
  15. How are those 266s??? Seen a lot lately on eBay and wondering how they run.
  16. If your doing a lot of posts mixing concrete will be cheaper than bags of post mix. Always done joists at 600 centres and support posts every 1.2m I'm guessing you can get a solid wall plate against the property??
  17. Exhaust fell off the truck 2 mins from the house, yet another part to be added to the list of repairs.
  18. Anybody using protein shakes before/during/after work?? Used to take a lot when I rock climbed for strength and recovery but not had any for ages. A day in the woods now sees me craving food and figured these would help. Anyone got any recommendations??
  19. @thehungrysquirrel A mix of forestry, craft and general stuff.
  20. If your in Canterbury there's plenty of firms in the area. Do you have transport, saws or Ppe yet? Minimum to come out with a crew would be 30/31 and trousers/boots so you can drag and trim things down if needed. Get the phone book and call every firm in the area.
  21. 540/550/560/372/150 Forestry worker and arb newbie.
  22. Lovely looking job with some awesome limb walks sir.
