The courses I'm doing have their own kit, the only reason I'm looking at this point is that I know a retired guy who is now a consultant who's offered to teach me a bit of the basics beforehand on some of his trees and I need it for that. I realise I'll look abit stupid turning up with my own stuff but it can't really be helped! Thanks for the advice though!

I'm based in the West Midlands is there anywhere nearby that's worth a visit? Also is there any brands to stay clear of?

Thanks. Are there any brands or models that come recommended for trousers and boots? I'd go to the APF but you'll be talking to a salesman and they'll always say their stuff is the best!

I'm looking at starting out as a tree surgeon. By the end of November I will have all my qualifications up to using a chainsaw from a rope. Has anyone got any advice on kit that would be good to start off with and that is suitable for climbing. I'll need at minimum trousers, boots, gloves and helmet any recommendations? Not looking for anything ridiculously expensive but I do want it to last awhile.
