  1. Wet syc on the ground rots BDQ, due to the high carb content, I would just leave it for habitat as you would need to log it, move it and dry it before burning, which is quite a bit of work for something that might just turn out to be papery rubbish once dried.
  2. Saw that happen to an old fella on a shower chair in a care home, got brought to A&E by the fire brigade. Ice pack and KY jelly got it out.
  3. I use oregon and stihl bars as I cut a lot of wind blown trees and get a few nips so not willing to risk an expensive sugi bar. (Before you ask I'm Scottish). I've tried to square file a full chisel chain, it was great in clean wood out of the box and totally knackered after I had been at it, and i took a fair bit of skin off my fingers too, I'm just going to stick with standard round filing. I watched the videos and still couldn't get the angles right doing it free hand and ended up with a chain that could cut round corners !!
  4. It’s all horses for courses in terms of what you cut and what you need to do it with. There’s no perfect set up.
  5. Mmm perhaps they are or is that just the way you speak if you mum and your sister are the same person.?
  6. I’m an amateur too. Husky 440 with 15” (soon to be replaced with 550 mk2 most likely 15” again). Husky 365 with 20”. Old Stihl 390 with 18” (bit knackered just kept for emergency) I cut quite big windblowns with this crew, sometimes I just have to tackle things from both sides and take my time.
  7. I agree 1/64th here or there won’t make a discernible difference in the real world. More important to get angles correct, correct height and shaped rakers. As “Bucking Billy-Ray” would say “gotta clean out the gullet”.
  8. I’ve been sitting out in the evening a lot too, never heard so much bird song as this spring. I’m loving my evenings in the garden, brilliant de-stressing. keep safe everyone.
  9. Buy new from one of the big 4 and you won’t go wrong. I agree that the 365 is a great saw 550 mk2 good too. I’m a husky person.
  10. I scarified and over seeded my grass and just watering very lightly on days when there is no overnight frost. Just enough to damp it down to stop the seed blowing away. Local golf course green keepers advice.
  11. Me too, and I’m making sure my elderly neighbours are ok too. We all need to look out for each other.
  12. Crikey, I had a look at this saw ans was seriously thinking about getting one till you posted this, £327 on top of the £150 for the bare saw ( x2 batts), I'll not bother thanks.
  13. No “poof button”, (decomp button), so no use for me !
  14. Another vote for rapeseed oil.
  15. thats the spirit ! Can never have too many saws.
  16. Especially for the rural elderly. My wife and I are going to try our best to look out for the 2 elderly folks near by who are locked up for the next 3 months. Remember folks little acts of kindness improve your mental health too, lets all look out for each other over the next few months, everyone has got some skill set that is going to be useful to someone, and stay safe doing it.
  17. I'm planning to drop a load off at my elderly neighbour (86) on Saturday, have arranged she will leave the garage door open and I'll just dump them on the floor for her. I usually stack them and fill her coal buckets and other stuff but she adamant this is all she'll need.
  18. My first car was a ford fiest popular with a 950cc engine in red, well it was supposed to be red but most of the panels and doors had been replaced or touched up with filler and spray paint so could go from a dusky pink to maroon depending on the light. You could double its value by putin petrol in it, 3 star only mind.
  19. I’ve been using pound shop work gloves with the saw for years, trousers, boots, lid, visor and cans are much more important. What you save on glove invest in the best PPE you can get.
  20. The case was in Scotland and well reported. Stay calm and carry on.
  21. 54 and he had advanced motor neurone disease
  22. Correct Stere children do get it but they seem to get better quickly, adults are at risk if they are elderly and have major other medical problems especially respiratory. im not saying this isn’t a major public health issue just we all need to be calm and follow sensible guidelines.
  23. I’m a consultant in my local hospital an the only deaths we have had are in elderly people with significant other major medical problems.
  24. Sorry for being a bit derogatory but as a doctor getting sick of the doomsayers
  25. As an nhs doctor we have only seen adult deaths with significant co morbidities so this isn’t fckinn idiotic just fact. Please only comment when you are being negative and not in full grasp of facts.
