  1. Don't do it yourself, get a professional in, be much cheaper and safer in the long run. Chainsaws ain't toys and that trunk looks like an accident waiting to happen for a beginner.
  2. Lit both of mine it’s bloody freezing here in Cumbria !
  3. I've gone out of my way over the years to not use Amazon and support local and national business where possible I've sometimes paid a little, and only a little, more for things but the thought that i'm supporting real people and their families more than compensates.
  4. 365xp can be fettled in to a 372 I believe.
  5. Sounds like you got lucky with this one and it could have gone tits up, all for £300. Every day is a learning day and from your posts it sounds like you've learned a lesson, I don't climb at all 'cos its too dangerous to teach yourself. Climbing isn't a DIY skill.
  6. Did anyone else read this with David Bowies voice in their head, or is it just me ??
  7. Good cos the few time’s it’s happened to me I’ve nearly shit myself!
  8. It will break, just chuck it in the metal recycling and get a new one. Not sure why you would want to risk working with a chain that’s going to fail.
  9. I'd love to have a go at it too, looks like a great way to make instant kindling !
  10. Best year so far for sand martins in north Cumbria, hundreds in the nearby sand quarry. 5 years ago we had bee eaters in the sand Martin colony, but they’ve never been back.
  11. Don’t think Greta would be pleased !☠️
  12. Yeah that would fit my dad would have got the 80 cc saw in the 80s, second or third hand. Happy memories in these bleak times. Cheers mate those pictures of an old chainsaw have really made my day, funny how little things like that seem more important now.
  13. Yeah it’s just a barrel of laughs at my work ! Hence keeping a sense of humour is important and why I love working in the woods to relax. The wife is a GP and working more hours than the bothy cat she sews to relax.
  14. It’s not my scope of expertise, I’m a cancer surgeon, but you are correct in your post. The trick is identifying who needs them and when to give them. Steroids are a balancing act between benefits and side effect.
  15. There is an international trial on steroid use in Covid about 5000 patients entered but too early for any conclusion. Hope that answers your question. I am a consultant and am allowed a sense of humour too.
  16. Would that saw date back to around 1985ish as it looks like the one my late father had around that time? Seem to remember that it cut really well, but that might just be my rose tinted glasses, the old man and i did loads of firewood with it.
  17. just how much muff diving would she need to do to be considered "committed" to being a lesbian ??
  18. This was always going to be the long game. Boris just didn't want to be the one to tell us ! Some restrictions will be lifted but sadly not many in the near future, we have to accept that this virus will trickle thru the population making us all ill, and costing some their life, at some point and all we can do is try to keep it at a trickle and not a flood which would overwhelm the all our infrastructure not just the NHS. Reliable antibody testing for recovered cases and a vaccine are the main tickets out of this.
  19. Looks lke they are using a massive wooden ladder some old bits of rope, tweed jackets, boots and flat caps. Them were the days ! Not a clip board or a vizi vest in sight.
  20. I have a 550, new purchase and a great saw, used to use a husky 440 and it did fine too just a wee bit slower. Also 440 was very fuel efficient.
  21. But wont we run out of guide dogs, if what my mum said about it is true ! ?
  22. Very neat and clever set up. I salute your invention and ergonomic design. Read an article that due to lack of overseas imports, due to Covid, there will be a shortage of BBQ charcoal this summer! Could be a good year for you sir .
  23. Wet syc on the ground rots BDQ, due to the high carb content, I would just leave it for habitat as you would need to log it, move it and dry it before burning, which is quite a bit of work for something that might just turn out to be papery rubbish once dried.
  24. Saw that happen to an old fella on a shower chair in a care home, got brought to A&E by the fire brigade. Ice pack and KY jelly got it out.
