As Sir Winston Churchill said " keep calm and carry on". Along with " action this day", so could all the worried well get on with life and maybe take care of your elderly and vulnerable like good kind human beings, instead of panic buying bog roll and pasta.

Yeah your right, the 365 is a beast cross cutting the big wind blown larch that i mostly do, can be a bit heavy snedding tho. I suppose there isnt such a thing as a perfect saw just the most appropriate for the job from the selection available to you. Once the 440 finally goes i was thinking of a 435to replace it but getting more and more tempted by battery as time goes on.

Bought a 365 last year, which is a bit more oomph than I need,wish I had gone for a 550 mk2 as all the reviews on it are great. Not that the 365 isn’t .

I would agree that you could just use it on a shorter bar as a very gutsy everyday saw and years out of it.

Nothing moving yet in North Cumbria. The odd Daffy out but still cold and very wet.

Looking at the picture of the site I'd say take the lot down, except the outers on the prevaling wind side. The re-plant with birch, rowan and willow and you can make them in to any shape you want and it'll enrich the biodiversity.

Check if your phone has saved to the sim card as your photos will be recoverable from the sim even if it is wet and the actual phone is knackered.

Looks like an accident waiting to happen with jammed logs under load etc. I'll stick to cross cutting with the chainsaw. -
I used the "find my" app on my ipad to find my phone recently, turned out to be in the bin at work !!

Another vote for the Husky 365. great saw and if you want more oomph it can be modded to a 372 cheaply. PPE and a set of log tongs to save your back, you only get 1 and need to look after it, and get someone who knows how to teach you how to hand sharpen. I ruined quite a few chains till I was shown.

Glad nobody was underneath it. I’ve had a couple of big larch come down but they will just go for firewood, you could mill some lovely timber out of that beech.

What do you use to store logs by the fire?

We use an old wicker laundry basket with a bit of carpet in the bottom in one room and a U shaped wicker log holder lined with news paper in the other, kindling and firelighters kept in an old cardboard box in cupboard under the stairs. I found the u shaped holder in a place that did house clearences, someone told me it came from a local hotel that got converted to an old peoples home. I refill each log holder with another old laundry basket that I carry to and fro from the log shed. -
He has really grown !!!

Using rapeseed oil do you need to increase the flow rate at all ??

Going to try rapeseed oil as others seem to use it without problems, don’t cut as much as some so don’t buy oil in big volumes. Will report back my opinions in a couple of weeks ?

Wild around tea time here in Cumbria, last hour has dried a bit but not a night to go anywhere if you don’t need to. Can see me getting a few calls thru the week about wind blowns. Every cloud and all that !

I used a quad, artic cat 700, with a trailer for a bit, now use the 4WD pick up and a trailer. More comfy, happier towing and especially stopping with the pick up. Also my quad got nicked, they are very nickable ! I would love an Alpine but can't justify the expense just yet. Kids miss the quad tho, it was good fun for them!
