Think you dodged a bullet there by not getting that job, to my eye that is an accident waiting to hapen. The first picture is a nightmare and the second one not a great deal better. better to miss a bad opportunity and fight another day than get yourself killed or maimed for a few bags. -
Big problem round here to, "log rustlers" I call them, well that and a few other things too ! Recently found a "gentleman" helping himself to wood from quite a pretty little Holtz Hausen I had built. He said he thought it was just for anyone to help themselves to !!

I use my Drexel to sharpen and do the rakers, mine came with a little gauge so you can grind the rakers to the correct height. I'm rubbish with the hand files and have ruined loads of chains in the past but have used the little dremel with no probs for about 6 months now. The little angle guide comes with the pack too.

I started out with a little mittox 4118 for firewood and clearing the shrubbery and over the years its paid for itself 20 times over and never put a foot wrong, it even started after I dropped it in the river. I just drained the fuel and oil, dried the case and bar with a towel and left it in the airing cupboard for a week then re-fueled it and it started first time. I've still got it and use it for odd little jobs now as I've a husky now but cheap doesn't always mean rubbish, and i really haven't lavished any attention on it at all, I guess you just have to be lucky and not get one that was put together on a Friday !!

I know this is slightly off the thread but I've just cut and split a load of wind blown birch and have stacked it to dry. I seems really wet and green, how long does it take to dry till its fit to burn, I'm not an expert and usually only get my paws on larch, so birch is a bit new to me.???

went over mine last night with a fine tooth comb and even found all the original packaging it came in and am sure its the real deal, but its the last time I'll buy off ebay, not worth the paranoia !!

I bought a Husky 440 off e-bay tail end of last year, I'm pleased with it, but all this talk of copies has made me paranoid. It came in a husky box with all the papers from the US and seems to be the real deal, although was quite cheap off e-bay.....oh dear have i bought a dud, I'll check it tonight when i get home and report back.

Like the stepped block and the horse with the slider jaw ideas, think I'll try both at the weekend as I've a ton of odds and sods to cut up and have been putting it off. Till now I've given all the odd bits to my neighbour who cuts them by hand in a B&Q workmates bench, I do let him keep it tho ! -
The husky web site described the saw as perfect for "ranchers" so would be fine around where i live as we've plenty of cow boys too.

I just bought a dremel attachment which even I can use to do a chain in about 5 minutes, and i'm rubbish with the hand files too.
