    100% agree common sense and respect for the job are the best ppe.

    I couldn’t agree more about deer control, they do tremendous damage to young trees round my way and they’re numbers are going through the roof.

    I went on a course years ago and the guy told us to put a sticker on the most dangerous part of the saw, we all got it wrong by putting it on the chain. We should have put it on our foreheads ! Common sense and respect for the tools and the job your doing is the most important. Helmet with cans and visor a must, so are trousers or chaps ( I have both but prefer chaps), chainsaw gloves are not needed just decent well fitting and dry work gloves ( pound shop can be a good source of these). Also have your phone handy, just makes sense. And if a job looks dodgy the first time you look at it walk away 'cos your first impression is usually right.

    I cut on my own and love it as it is a chance to think about nothing than the job in hand, solitude ans the sound of a saw, what's not to love !

    Nice one love to see stuff being sharpened and re-used and not just chucked out and replaced. Good job sir !

    keeping the chain sharp and well oiled is vital, a petrol saw will cut much stronger but they are noisy and around the house electric is the way to go.

    Might invest in an electric saw as I’m starting to get stems dropped off at the house. Wife not keen on the noise of the saw. Although she might make a face at me getting another saw!!!!!!

    Average 15 cube a year with 2 stoves in the house, try to use the stoves as much as possible to keep the heating oil use down. Mostly a mixture of larch and sycamore get it for nowt just my time and effort. Used a lot this year already as it’s been wet and cold in Cumbria.

    Yeah we went out drinking in the Jewish quarter each night it was very bohemian and cheap as chips !!

    Took the kids this summer, Auschwitz is truly the worst place in the world till the tour goes to Birkenau. Industrial murder on an unimaginable scale. Standing on the judenramp, where the people were sorted into groups before going to the gas chamber is the most awful place on earth. We were all totally exhausted after the trip and all went to bed that night early, glad I went, everyone should, you’ll never take anything for granted after seeing this.

    I get mine for free and sell on the excess, about 12, cubes a year to neighbours. Mostly wind blown larch, sycamore and other odds and ends. I charge £85 a mixed load which I deliver and stack in their shed. Do it mostly for the exercise, and cos I just like it. Don’t know what I’ll do when I’m too old but by that time they might have perfected the light sabre !!!

    Hoggs fieldpro very warm and comfy. Got mine in the gun shop in Keswick in a sale 6 years ago still good for a few more!!

    Apparently the contracts are so tight that there is no chance AJ will fight Fury or Wilder next year. he will have to do a madatory defence tho, but it isn't likely to be these 2.

    He’s learnt a bit of ring craft but Fury would make take him apart and Wilder would just blow him apart. He’s learnt that speed and muscles aren’t everything.

    Did another 3 cube today, could be my record year. 7 before Christmas is very promising, likely to be down to to last few sticks by February at this rate. All just neighbours and word of mouth, though won’t be giving up the day job.

    I wear 4.99 jeans from Tesco or if it’s warm army surplus cotton camo trousers approx 8.99 delivered off tinter net .

    What a wee cracker, he is growing up fast.

    Recent frosty weather has had me busy last 3 weekends but I’m very small scale and only sell about 12cube a year. Done 4 already this winter so promising start. Wife might get a present for Christmas !!! Although I don’t think she wants a generator or a log splitter !!
