  1. Look like a fun job that one!
  2. I reckon some people just like the mechanical devices and some like a bit of rope between their fingers. It's a bit like analog vs digital, vinyl vs cd, etc. Most people know where they stand. I reckon it's pretty similar for tree gear so which type are you and go with that. I'm an analog kind of guy so I love my hitch climber and a bit of accessory cord tied on with fishermans. Happy choosing
  3. Ditto. A small 30 inch waist on a Tree Motion. If I have the big saw on sometimes it can pull down a bit, but nothing serious. Comfy etc. Soon will be out of date so looking to buy another soon and can't see past buying another. Maybe a Sequoia?
  4. He would at Man U, they don't have someone like him. But why would anyone go to Man U if they already gave Champion League? If Leicester win the league surely you would want to stay and do it again.....
  5. Don't know. But climbing on a VT its about 3mm less than climbing rope. Could be the same in this situation?
  6. yup oak before ash.......can anyone remember a year with ash before oak - i can't really
  7. This has happened to mine in the past. I would check to see if some little bit of wood is fouling throttle linkage behind carb. Then I would clean carb - there are good videos on you tube - it's pretty simple, takes 10 minutes and good to know how to do this anyway These have fixed it for me and I'm no mechanic. Then if still a problem I would go spend some cash at the shop. Thanks
  8. Reg, in one of the other vids it shows you coming down and at a certain point you switch back to the flipline from rappelling for the last stretch - how come - is the rope not long enough? thanks
  9. Yes that's all you need, if i was taking down a confier here in the UK it would be rare for me to use my rope until chogging down....but at 150ft I may change my mind!

    FimblClimb

Ok cheers mate. 👍 Guess if I did the same, and took off the id tag I could the FimblClimb rather than send back. I'll ponder that

    FimblClimb

Yes true. But then do we have to research to death every purchase? Surely a friction saver works with a rope?!?!

    FimblClimb

Can you install from ground? And yes same as you...didn't want the pulley saver so thought this would be the answer. So do you have the FimblClimb or FimbleSaver?

What do think of the slaice? Looks good but pricey?

    FimblClimb

Thanks Steve. Would have been good for me to do the same before buying, but doesn't say anything about it on the FR Jones website, just assumed it would be fine.
  15. Anyone else got one? Just turned up in the post today and seems the thimbles are too small for my rope - blue tongue. Have to really squeeze the splice to get it through and then the unique id tag won't go through. Even without the id I can't see how it would be possible to install from the ground! Seems a ridiculous design.
  16. too actually have your own crane too.....
  17. I generally stretch for 10 mins every morning and do Pilates once a week for core strength. Would like to more but always a balance of time and energy. Body definitely stiffening up over the years so stretch as much as possible! I think you should be fitter than your job but actually doing that....personally I don't. Haha
  18. Want to but never quite find the time to get good enough to be able to crank them out! Like your work Squirrel
  19. Yes interesting and always good to be reminded of tying in twice (esp whilst cutting) as speed often dictates the thought processes whilst at work, and I know I go through phases of not bothering. But really to be tied in twice all the time..... I can't see it catching on
  20. Ha! I've just been wondering that too!
  21. I thought best practise was to have a cut away strap between the carabiner and the rope grab when using a wire core anyway??? This allows for an easier rescue and also deals with the problem described (which is a PITA)
  22. Take bar off and run the saw a bit. It's easy to see if oil coming out where it should be to oil the bar. That's where I'd start. If not as above
