  1. Ah ok thanks for the clarification mate
  2. As Reg says its up to you if you one hand or not. But I think the thrust of the video is more aimed at the tone of Mark's post - essentially insulting people's intelligence and judging them on their actions rather than whether we should or not. That's a personal choice and one that potentially has a heavy price. But it doesn't make you a 'dummy'.
  3. So that is what we are doing here, dismantling the tree, which you are saying is not okay, and is against the other views on the thread. Can you point me towards some legislation for this? Thanks
  4. Just a little more info - from Treeworker. Currently they intend to stock the blue in CE and the orange ANSI.
  5. Fair enough. Just a little doubt in my mind about what constitutes an 'active' nest. Now eased, thanks
  6. I have no interest in killing them but I would be destroying their nesting site. Though re the general license it would be under the public safety option - people and their property could be harmed if the tree fell over (with nests still attached!)
  7. Yes there are rooks roosting....
  8. Hi Does anyone know what the rules are around rook nests? I was looking at a copper beech today which has been recommended for dismantling due to damaged roots and ganoderma fungus at the base. It is considered dangerous due to proximity to a car park. There are several rook nests in the top of the tree which are currently in use, though I am assuming as it is well before nesting season there will be no eggs. However I am still concerned that this poses a potential problem as I would have thought it is an offence to disturb the active nests? Thanks Stew
  9. Interesting facts all round, thanks for sharing - no idea how you know this stuff.... and well that's a pretty solid recommendation for ANSI vs CE.... Will have to try to see what the difference is.... Looked into buying from the US, it's a hell of a lot more than the UK prices - guess the exchange rate hasn't helped. Better get on the blower to Nod and grab some Cougar from him...

If only we were all that chilled...nice backdrops - sounds and views Did you climb to the top to put in your TIP before coming down to trim out the branches? If so, why Thanks Reg
  11. thanks, so the en1891 is more stretchy than other regulations - presumably a good thing in the event of a fall, but not so good whilst climbing the rest of the time.
  12. Think it replaces the pinto and the biner
  13. Interested that you use 13mm rope Scotspine. Why do you prefer? Thanks
  14. Anyone know why CE wants a nylon core? Is it down to safety or....
  15. Thanks Maria, good to know. Does the orange have a CE?
  16. Sounds like a call to Nod on the cards then.... Thanks for the tips
  17. So order it up from the US?
  18. Any particular reason old mill?
  19. New rope time Seems to be a lot of thumbs up for Cougar Blue for SRT on here. But any good for DdRT? I am still very much using both climbing systems, usually more DdRT than SRT, so need a rope that is happy on both. Thanks in advance
  20. I use warm soapy water, open and close the gates a few times under water, then leave to air dry. Usually that's enough but if not then duck oil if required. DMM definitely say no to both graphite powder and WD40.
  21. I'm using 11.7mm line with 8mm ocean polyester cord tied in a Knut Haven't used or even seen the sky walker pulley so can't comment on it but the pinto is one solid little pulley.
  22. I use a pinto with hitch cord tied in fishermans outside the pinto. works fine for me in terms of space on the crab. No need for spacer. I like using a pinto here because you can clip the working end of your lanyard back onto the becket of the pinto which makes for a smooth in line working position system when you are using it either onto the hitch climber or onto the ring on your bridge, as you only have one crab on the bridge ring and feels less cluttered. At other times the pinto is no different to any other pulley. So it is just personal preference and how much money you have to spend...
