  1. Today I went up 40ft for drone....
  2. If any of you are around the west of London then it's a nice walk at Burnham Beeches next Farnham Common to check out the old lapsed Beech pollards there. Some Oak too.
  3. The only Tulip tree I've been in was lovely to climb - massive though. But had been condemned so it was a dismantle.....Not quite so tall maybe as that one but the girth of main stem was much bigger than that. Hard to see the main stem in this photo but the ladder gives a sense of scale
  4. Crikey that river is raging
  5. Agreed. I use a ladder to get in to pretty much every tree I climb, to add one more opinion
  6. What mm diameter bungee cord are you guys using in the Homemade systems?
  7. Clarks Supertack here
  8. Thanks for that mate. Well explained. Sounds like the Ventura gauntlets thrown down!!
  9. Absolutely a difference. Geckos all the way here too.
  10. Easy. Can clean stuff over the weekend... Bit like a mot, don't want to fail cos I missed something obvious... Thanks
  11. As above, anything I should bear in mind for this. Don't want kit to fail for stupid reasons?! Or is it as straightforward as it seems? Thanks
  12. Hi Old Mill Starting to look at jackets and wondering about the ever popular Cut and Climb or something else. From another thread I saw you had one and now you have this new Pfanner one. Why did you change and is it that much better? Cheers Stew
  13. I would agree, don't bother with CE lanyard, do it yourself. Learn on a Prussic or blakes KISS, but move on quickly to hitch climber type system. Mechanical, so many options better to climb first and then know what you want from a device. Get spikes, I didn't bother for a while but most likely you'll start on the easy jobs - dismantling conifers and it makes the job so much easier, and throw some money at them, one day on decent spikes and you'll forget what you paid for them! Flip line is personal choice, I prefer, but if short on cash then lanyard is ok, but not best practise. Get more than 25m rope, so it gives you more range. Proper climbing helmet and some decent gloves like those £3 Pfanners. Bungee strop for the chain saw? You'll probably need more than 3 carabiners too. Have fun
  14. Proper Devon rain here too
  15. I only lasted about two weeks on treebay before it left me cold. Actually couldn't believe that people would bother to be like that. Arbtalk is a safe haven ;-)
  16. Agree adding a match winning situation to the options available to the ref. It's the last kick of the game. Get it right. Some players won't get another chance to play in a RWC. I think Scotland played above themselves that day. And that's how it should be. It's a World Cup, and players and teams should be inspired to reach new heights. Did ANY of the other northern hemisphere teams do that? You can argue about the ref all day but we did make a bad decision to throw to the back of the line out and in real time how could anyone see it didn't come off a Scot?
  17. True true. Just all the other fabrics I have too!!
  18. Yeah it could be new harness time. From what I gather some inspectors will say it's over 5 years bin it, others will inspect and decide if it is good to go or not...clearly age is a factor in the whole picture but it seems crazy to me to chuck a harness that is still good just cos it's older than 5. Cheers fellas
  19. Spoke to Aran and yes nice bloke, but my harness is over 5 years old now and I think it'll last a bit more, but he said no to fabrics over 5 years old....so I'm hoping to find someone who'll at least have a look at it.
  20. Tony Lane - Cullomtpon way?
  21. Any suggestions for loler inspectors in South Devon for me? Thanks in advance
  22. +1 for the red pfanners. Best I've tried 👍🏻
  23. Whereabouts in Devon may I ask?
  24. Did this ever happen? Thanks
