  1. The yellow wire is the earth cut out wire, the other wire is the earth return, this should really be under the head of one of the ignition unit fixing screws
  2. Just been looking at the pictures again, is that bit of old wire the ht cable??
  3. Sorry Steve i was was a little slow typing my reply.
  4. That is the impulse tube and seal, as the piston rises and falls a positive and negative pulse is fed to the carb via this tube which causes the pump diaphram to pulsate, pulling fuel from the tank to the carb, the fuel cap leaking will not cause running issues just a wet leg, the tank breather is pressed into the top of the tank under the crankcase, you should see a good jet of fuel from the fuel hose when you pull it off the carb, this is norm due to the type of tank breather and should be there, if the carb is clean check the seal behind the flywheel they were very prone to blowing inside out.
  5. Fuel starvation, start by replacing the fuel filter in the tank, no better, carb off, check the internal screen under the pump cover for dirt, replace diaphrams if hardened, behind the carb fixing plate you will find the rummer induction tube, check for splits, uner the induction tube is the impulse tube seal, make sure this is in good condition, failing all this check the crank seal behind the flywheel, they are prone to blow inside out.
  6. The 345 semi pro saw, composit crankcase, clam shell design, not a bad saw, just make sure the muffler is tight and has not fallen off at some time or it will melt the top of the crankcase and cause oil leaks, also also the cylnder screws come up from the bottom, make sure these are tight.

It was not black! it was grey to match the 61/42/40/45
  8. Now now children play nicley.
  9. You need to see some power cutter cylinders, plating complely gone, only the alloy of the cylinder left, mix concrete dust with a drop of fuel hey presto lapping paste, now feed it into the the cylinder and rev the engine to 10,000 rpm.
  10. Husqvarna need to be at the cutting edge ( excuse the pun ) of technolgy, there are machine in the range that are ok to 2018, however if you have a machine that can be altered to increase emissions this will become not accetable, we have seen anti tamper caps, anti tamper screws etc, but as we all know people will bypass these, hence auto tune, a non adjustable saw, it starts with the key sector models, but will be rolled out on all new projects, reputable manufacturers have to guarantee there published figures are the same in six months time as they were when the machine was produced, rest assured we will start to see other manufactures doing things to assure there emissions, out German friends already have a fuel injected power cutter on the market, who knows where this technology may appear next.

There was a 50 special, however this was the 51cc version before it was known as the 51, the 50 never had a black top cover, it was grey and still had the choke lever in the top cover, not sure was engineer told you they were not compatible, but they are wrong. Yoy cannot fit the 51cc cylinder on the rancer crankcase as the cylinder skirt is wider than the crankcase mouth.
  12. 570 was a smaller version of the 575, both the 570 and 575 went down like a lead ballon, broken cranks, main bearins turning in the crankcase, the US market refused to carry on with it, so the 576 was born, different crankcase, wider bearing on the flywheel side, different cylinder, it was a much better saw, but the 372 had a much larger following, which i guess is why the 372 is still in the range.

Not very likly to have been run with no filter as you would never start the thing due to the filter/choke system, do not give up on it, it is well worth spending a bit of money on,i can sort you out a parts list if you wish.

I am getting all nostalgic, the Rancher50 was a great litttle, as reliable as you like, the choke system depressing the air filer over the inlet was a little strange but did work, you need to check the air filter frame has not collapsed or it will run really rich, the starter pulley in the picture is correct, nothing missing there.
  16. I do not think anybody is saying qualified climbers are not to use top handle saws, what is being said is the migration of top handle saws into the hobby/consumer market, have no doubt that this type of user will hold the log with one hand and the saw with the other, some countries have already banned top handle saws, so do not think this could happen in the UK
  17. Not aware of a recall, theearly 550/560 has a pipe from the fuel tank breather, to the air filter elbow ( emissions from fuel gas ) there was a kit to blank off the pipe to the elbow as this was effecting hot starting due to fuel vapour in the carb elbow. Your issue does not sound loke this, more like fuel starvation, back to basics, replace the fuel tank filter as this is cheap and easy, next is a little more difficult, the drive side crank seal, these saws have nylon bearing cages, if the cage breaks up it will destroy the crank seal, this will then be a full re build.
  18. Husqvarna power cutter with poor filter maintance if you want to see what happens to nikasil.
  19. The 50/51/55 all used that pick up pipe, the pump was non adjustable ( they never did an adjustable one ) the pump capacity is goverened by rotational speed and also the throw, you can increase the flow by increasing the length of the flat on the pump shaft by 1/16

    Saw sick

All good advice, nothing more to add.
  21. If your not sure why it seized, and nothing has been done to stop it happening again, guess what, it will probably do it again.
  22. PM me, i am sure we can work somthing out.
  23. Saftey items on the saw should be repaired or replaced properly.
  24. The metal hand guard brake is the Sweda o matic brake, this was diss continued, you can now fit the later knee link brake with composit brake handle, i will probably have one about if you are intrested.
  25. Please let us know how you get on, good luck.
