  1. The 550 has a Husqvarna produced cylinder and has not been out long enough for the piraters to start churning them out, try honing the cylinder and fitting a new piston.

575 was replaced by the 576, it did have some issues, it would have to be a really good price, main bearing issues, crankcase issues, 576 was a much better saw.
  3. Who says the barrel spring is fitted as standard?
  4. Replace the oil pick up hose part no. 585514001 and the delivery hose part no. 537261501.
  5. Do not run the saw with the bar removed, the clutch can, and will fly off on the over run, people are idiots to tell you to do this!!!!!!!
  6. Fuel filter in the tank blocked?
  7. Not too difficult to remove them, however it is a little more taxing to re fit them, if you do not have the correct tool you need to make sure to drive them in nice and square, also do not fit them the wrong way round ( easily done ).
  8. Oil delivery tube kinked, there was also a later pick up filter to increase flow.

Its a little bit different to rebuild than the 55.
  10. Low compression, ring wear!
  11. Its no good blaming the saw because the dealer cannot repair it, had they repaired it properly in the first place this thread would not have started.
  12. Impulse pipe not connected is where i would start, 100 hours on a newish top handle saw is goig some.
  13. Dont give up so easily, it is doable,
  14. As saw chip says it is a straight one off and the new one on, the pt no. is also correct.
  15. Good little brush cutter X Torque engine, used one quite a bit with no problems.
  16. Not correct, you can buy the auto tune unit separatly.
  17. You can try drilling, but the steel is very hard, because the hole is at an angle the drill bit bites, good luck.
  18. The 28" bar is Oregon, they claim it is an oil jet hole and feeds the oil better onto the chain.
  19. This is starting to sound like the drive side main bearing cage has broken up, or the bearing has come loose in the crankcase, grab the end of the crank clutch side and check for up and down movment.

Carb looks about right, i certainly can not remember a smaller carb, the 268 had a different carb.
  21. This little hobby saw was not that bad for small fire wood cutting, pretty sure it was a chrome bore not silica bore, i would pull it all apart, doesnt take too long, check the main bearing cages, they can lose a part of the bearing cage which can nip the ring in.
  22. Change the auto tune unit on top of the carb, they are not madly expensive about £30 from memory.
  23. The California was produced in Italy,it had many different names, 460/Titanium etc, most came as standard with the Intez bar, as you say you can retro fit the screw ans pawl and fit the normal bar, it should be 3/8 low profile chain 1.3 gauge, they offer an 16" bar is part no. 577614331 55drive links
  24. Most people just get socks and pants for Christmas!
  25. They also need to check the impulse tube, they have been known to come off, you then have no pump from the carb.
