  1. Gilardoni cylinder is not original on the 242.
  2. I have tried to repair these in the past, it only lasts a short while before the hand guard starts to slop around and the screw falls out, changing the crankcase is usually the best way to go, there is so little material to work with in this area, you can usually find a s/h half.
  3. Some interesting facts for you, a saw running in free air at 14000 rpm .325 7 tooth rim chain speed 27 mps change to an 8 tooth rim you have a chain speed of 30.8 mps
  4. Not so, if you have a mains electric saw with the armature set at 90 degrees to the bar and chain the inertia of the armature keeps the rotation of the chain going, we had to stop using the electric chainsaw to demonstrate the leg material as on occasions it would penetrate all layers
  5. The problem with many electric chainsaws is there is a lot on inertia in the armature even when the power is cut, ironically there is more chance of an electric saw penetrating the trousers than a petrol equivalent.

    Husqvarna 435e

The carb is a Zama and yes is Chinese, however not the usual tat you buy off the bay, it is hard to imagine how the screw has come out, the saw must have been running like a drain, i may have a scrap carb i could rob the jet out of send me a pm.
  7. Sorry you are right, i was thinking of the 560xp
  8. I thought the part no. was 505126307 ?
  9. You can put it back to factory settings and update the software, however this may not help the idling issue, any lack of compression and the first thing to go is the idle, there is a sort of mod you can do if all else fails.
  10. Fit the orange frame filter 25 micron
  11. Just be careful when pulling them back in as they fit into a square on the inside of the crankcase, you need to mark the front of the threaded part of the bolts tdc so as you know the square is in the correct position and will locate correctly.
  12. Yes they are going to be rattling around inside the oil tank, they are an interference fit in the case so must have taken a fair impact to push them out.
  13. Not sure the factory are going to be too pleased with these posts on a test saw, people given the chance to test a pre production saw should not go showing it everywhere, and as for altering it!!
  14. May have some bits, will have a look whats there.
  15. If the selling dealer put the customers name or post code into auto tune we may find the real owner, just need to plug it in. All the machines we see gets the post code put into them.
  16. Half the battle is holding the brake cover to get a decent push on the spring, i always suggest taking a couple of 8mm bolts, clamp the heads of the bolts in a vice, space them the same distance as the holes in the brake cover place the cover onto the up standing bolts ( you will be to remove the captive nuts ) band side up and secure with a couple of suitable nuts, now the cover is secure you can use a pair of long nose pliers into the end of the spring to push it home, or make yourself a tool that will fit into the spring with a t handle, please do no use a screw driver it will end in disaster if it slips out of the spring.
  17. The knee link chain brake is very reliable and has few moving parts, if the band is not tight enough around the drum i am guessing it is broken up where it hooks into the knee link, you will need to remove the spring cover to see this, be careful there is a fair expansion spring under the cover .
  18. I have a starter pulley if you still want one, it does not have the thin nylon bush in the centre as this was a seperate part.
  19. 501514801
  20. Many parts are not interchangable even thought they look the same so be carfull ordering parts, as said the ser no. plate will say T540 11
  21. Sorry should have posted this.
  22. Early 3120 had long bolts with squared ends that slipped into cut a ways in the cylinder, the later cylinder has 6mm threaded holes and was from the k1260, the screws should be allen screws to enable tightening them.
  23. As Steve says get a kindly dealer to plug in to the auto tune tool this will give you the pnc and ser no. if it was done properly at point of sale there could well also be somebodys name or post code in it.
  24. No idea what it is, but not a Partner.
  25. Poor quaility chain, inadiquate oiling.
