  1. All the larch trees in the Gwydir forest now have it. What do you reckon will they be replanting with as they must be a huge area being felled though the larch were mostly intermixed with other conifers I think.....
  2. Have used a hla85 & they are good but don't think it would like thicker diameter branches that some more heavy duty petrol ones manage. Suppose ideally need two trimmers a battery one for majority of stuff then a petrol one for more overgrown hegdes blackthorn hawrthorn etc that haven't being cut for a few yrs. Then you don't knacker the battery one trying to cut oversized stuff etc. Same as chainsaws different ones best for different jobs.. They should state max tooth gap or branch cutting diameter, some do & it varies quite alot....
  3. Flock or plastic?
  4. Biomass willow is a different sub species that basket willows may not be the ideal stuff for weaving withies if that what you mean by furniture? Willow cultivation - Wikpol.net WWW.WIKPOL.NET all about willow cultivation in Poland Think most volume of willow furniture & baskets etc comes from Poland nowadays apart from small scale & Somerset lvls. The industry declined drastically since advent of plastics,,,,, Maybe in for a revival though since plastic getting a bad name recently?
  5. Makita EN4950H: Vibration: Right Handle (Rear grip) 8.9 m/sec² Vibration: Left Handle (Front grip) 6.3 m/sec² Isn't that high for a new machine compared to the others? Wonder if the extra cost of the husky or others etc is partly due paying for better anti vibration? Husqvarna 325HE4 Equivalent vibration level (ahv, eq) front / rear handle 5.4/2.4 m/s² Always thought the italian active stuff looks well made & they also make the most powerful strimmer in production and made in italy not China. Home | Active s.r.l. WWW.ACTIVE-SRL.COM Never seen any being used though... 8 different combi engines sizes ranging up to 3.0kw So you could have a beast of a hedge trimmer...
  6. Old inner tubes?
  7. Dunni all thoose sheets etc might be pointless for a fungal pathogens that has tiny airborne spores? & spraying fungicide on verge? What is it are thay trying to stop the spread of anyway?
  8. Was out in the woods yesterday, lost my makita chainsaw after I put it down for awhile as colour doesn't jump out at you like orange from a distance especially in dense shade. ?
  9. Being watching it on DMAX

HS MULTI-PROTECT hedge trimmer protective trousers - WWW.STIHL.CO.UK Ideal for hedgetrimming work. Three protective pockets: for hedge trimmer leg protection, clearing saw leg protection... 14. Useful info thanks Thoose batteries & charger are expensive ?
  15. Sounds good more like a 30cc plus machine in performance? What battery model did you get with & how long does it last? Trying to find info online the Kw of the motor of the husky but cannot. The makita cordless model DUX60Z (combi power head) is 600w output.
  16. Its really hard to find any info on power output of battery tools but any maker making it hard/impossible to compare them with petrol versions. E.g Echo cordless strimmer: Echo DSRM-300 Battery powered solid drive trimmer WWW.MOWERSPLUS.CO.UK Echo DSRM-300 Battery powered solid drive trimmer, convenient and easy to use. No idea how powerful it is but its marketed a a professional tool..... I think its kind of dishonest.... Check the Shindaiwa (by Echo) T3000 (14-Inch) 56-Volt Lithium-Ion...
  17. Makes it sounds rubbish 20cc If the numbering system is correct the chainsaw 535i must have a considerably better motor with more power?
  18. Suppose you need to know the power output in Kw of the electric motor to compare it too petrol annoying they don't advertize that in the spec probably because its fairly low under 1kw?
  19. MS181 is a poor saw as its very slow to cut & has poor power to weight ratio. The makita ea4300 its loads better value for money especially at the current bargin price. It is like the makita version of an MS241 I have used both ms181 & ea4300 huge difference between them. If you want a quality dinky light weight saw get an echo (But more ££££) Corded electric saws from either husky stihl & makita (theese 3 make quality corded electric saws) are also good for firewood near the house & cut alot faster than a MS181.
  20. Mower looks bit of a beast for a cordless job:

  24. Makes sense to split all wood while its still green.
  25. Maybe could hire a flail mower for few days to clear garden & create paths etc? Have a look at the BCS ones Depends on how much money & time you have e.g brushcutter alot cheaper but takes alot longer to clear large areas.
