  1. It was while looking at his bandsaw that I spotted the trailer . I am looking at knocking up a decent sized sawmill for the bigger sticks , have just got rid of the woodmizer because most of the wood we get is way to big and have to knock it down first with an alaskan which is a total ballache. Bob
  2. I think most folk see wood stacked roadside as free for the taking. Mulched in a service road up the side of a dual carriageway for the council about a year ago, everything up the steep banks roadside had to be hand cut and stacked. My mate came and took all the decent log wood leaving tons of Willow/crap , the goblins cleared the rest as if it was their right. No one came up to me at any point and asked if they could take it They were dragging it up these steep banks to load it into their cars.
  3. Some HSE blurb on loler in forestry http://www.hse.gov.uk/treework/safety-topics/lifting-equipment-forestry.htm I suppose the loler on the trailer would only apply to a commercially used rig, for personal use that does not involve employees its a free for all. Bob
  4. Kobelco are a nice machine, have spent a fair few hours in one. Mathew is right about zero swing though but you would appreciate it if you do decide to take it in the woods. Bob
  5. Predictive text can be your worst enema ? It is odd that something so light and simple has not found its way onto trailers in this country, with a couple of pins fitted it would be removable. The alternative is a load sapping and expensive crane installation which I dont think would cope with the size of sticks that lad is dragging onto his trailer. Bob
  6. Simple adaption to a trailer to load big sticks.
  7. I hear you Mr Dumper but what most of us have a beef with is the ridiculous mark up on standard parts like filters, bearings and belts. I dont mind paying dealer prices for parts they have specially made. Bob
  8. They managed to shift this lot last night, they were still at it at midnight Bob
  9. Leaves no room for the guild of master craftesman logo , innit. Bob
  10. I am all for supporting local dealers until a price for a part makes me sit up. The big Rayco stump grinder has a multi banded belt ( four belts joined together) which from Rayco was over £900 delivered, local belt supplier can do the same belt for £80 so I ordered two of those. Pays to keep a list of filter, belts and bearing numbers with the relevant service sheet of the various machines so you can cross reference and shop about. Bob
  11. An accountant is merely a glorified book keeper and are generally not a good source for tips and tricks on tax evasion or avoidance. Speak to a tax consultant. Bob
  12. Nothing wrong with that, some of the most proficient and best paid climbers I know work out of the boot of a car. A couple of toppers , some climbing kit and a wealth of knowledge can serve you well. Bob
  13. Ten years is the maximum for hydraulic pipe but some manufactures of kit recommend changing at five years. Most mewp inspectors will condemn any chaffed or nicked pipes , pipe is lot cheaper than cleaning up the mess of a burst. Bob
  14. We removed the trees pushing this wall over a few months ago and had to wait until now to get TM in place to remove wall and destump. Dozens of big stumps to dig out and 200mts of leaning/cracked wall ranging in height from four to six feet. Furious day but all done by 4pm, just grading and clean up tomorrow.
  15. The answer e6G is to not use a standard tipper body that was designed to tip an evenly spread one ton payload ,fit greedyboards, ram the thing to the top way forward of the ram/tipping gear center with chip and expect it to tip Cranking up the pressure is one way of doing it but things like ram seals and pumps will suffer long term, fitting the tipping gear further forward would do it but then it would not go high enough to empty so its a complete redesign or crank up the pressure. Bod
  16. All our saws strimmers and blowers are stored in a shipping container and when you open the door you are hit with a powerful wave of petrol fumes, mentioned it on here before and no one seemed to think its a problem but I always tentatively turn on the light switch. Bob
  17. Thats pretty much it, vehicles registererd in this category as " tower wagons" have to comply with the new regs. Ag registered vehicles are classified as " agricultural machines" which outside of this legislation , this will probably be on the hit list in years to come. The new plating laws will be in place for 40kph tractors/trailers soon. Bob
  18. Needs to be ag registered to still be exempt or it will fall into the new legislation. http://www.cpclink.co.uk/30/mot-exemption-update/ Bob
  19. How did the engine cop it John? Bob

    Driver CPC

There were rumours that drivers CPC would be dropped but I cant see it happening, its the only tool available to put the onus on the driver rather than the employer for vehicle checks, securing loads , drivers hours and a load of other vehicle related shite that would normally be thrown at the employer. Vosa wont want to see it go and international drivers will have to have it . https://www.rtitb.co.uk/news/driver-cpc-will-stay-post-brexit-say-experts Bob
  21. Phil this is the reason just the paint code is no good https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&q=RAL+1003&chips=q:ral+1003,online_chips:1003+signal&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjbiaXW8J7bAhUnLMAKHTOmApYQ4lYIJigA&biw=1600&bih=1043&dpr=1 Far better to take a bit if the unit down to a paint shop and they will match it. Bob
  22. Its hard to comment on this without more detail but would seem that interceptors and attenuation tanks would be the solution, that would give a degree of pollution control and slow release . I cant see car park run off being allowed directly into a watercourse being an option. Bob
  23. I rate these, the wheels are a bit fragile but they really are a great bit of kit. I fitted chain to mine to convert it into a mini swipe. Bob
  24. Its just a chipper Swampie but like any chucknduck chippers you have to feed them a little and often to give the fan a chance to clear. Does sound like you are getting the hang of it though so best of luck. Boat gets used a fair bit on stuff like this and those little chippers are a tad lighter than an rg35 Rayco, winch and clobber Bob
  25. Kinellh e6G who signed that off ? Blunkett! boD
