  1. There have been big increases in timber prices both here and in the states, those odd part stacks lying about are now looking viable https://www.forestresearch.gov.uk/tools-and-resources/statistics/statistics-by-topic/timber-statistics/timber-price-indices/
  2. Two stroke on guard, dont fuck with the truck Bob
  3. Here you go Stubbs
  4. A lot of operators have their truck tacho`s calibrated on low profile tyres, once done they fit the full profiles back on which is why some of these trucks are hitting over 65mph. All the paperwork looks correct That snotty old Foden of mine will go off the clock when the limiter goes on the blink. Bob
  5. Not a bad guess Somewhere near the sports ground in Lymington ??? Bob
  6. Everything solar I have seen to date has been very underwhelming , some of the output figures are based on blazing sunshine directly onto the panel and unless the panel tracks the sun you are highly unlikely to get a fraction of the claimed output. If its just water you want to lift build a small version of windmill pump, beat that with yer urlectrickery Bob
  7. One of those gypsy tarts just came up to me in the garage up the road and asked for a fiver so she could take her sick aunt who has "dimension " to the hospital. Bob
  8. I am between Andover and Stockbridge , your clue is gritty feathers. Where am I? Bob
  9. I dont think I could slum it in the back of a van Mr Hewn but I have had a fair few overnights in the lorry cab on two day mulching jobs when they are a bit of a jaunt from home. Anymore than a night in the truck and its a B+B or a travel lodge. Bob
  10. Twas about 56p a liter last time around, in fairness to to OP the price does yoyo and discounts kick in on volume. Bob
  11. e6G, spec was gadget was to be on a six inch concrete base, half filled with water and then backfilled with pea shingle. That hole was over 4.5 mts deep and shittank position was critical so before the lads launched 20 ton of shingle around it I got them to rest the bucket of the machine on it to keep it steady. They have got a few more of these to do so will get some snaps. b0D
  12. You missed out today all thats left is the few bits below There is about 50 ton festering in the corner of the yard if you fancy rashering off a bit. Strange you lot rattling on about canals, my lads are just fitting one of these fancy shithouse purification units with its own discharge pump. Canal boat discharges into it which is down a bank, gizmos inside do their thing and it pumps clean water uphill back into the canal. I was a bit worried the bank would leech water into this hole but all was well. Got talking to the owner and she was saying they have restricted boat movements between the locks in an attempt to conserve water.
  13. It was while looking at his bandsaw that I spotted the trailer . I am looking at knocking up a decent sized sawmill for the bigger sticks , have just got rid of the woodmizer because most of the wood we get is way to big and have to knock it down first with an alaskan which is a total ballache. Bob
  14. I think most folk see wood stacked roadside as free for the taking. Mulched in a service road up the side of a dual carriageway for the council about a year ago, everything up the steep banks roadside had to be hand cut and stacked. My mate came and took all the decent log wood leaving tons of Willow/crap , the goblins cleared the rest as if it was their right. No one came up to me at any point and asked if they could take it They were dragging it up these steep banks to load it into their cars.
  15. Some HSE blurb on loler in forestry http://www.hse.gov.uk/treework/safety-topics/lifting-equipment-forestry.htm I suppose the loler on the trailer would only apply to a commercially used rig, for personal use that does not involve employees its a free for all. Bob
  16. Kobelco are a nice machine, have spent a fair few hours in one. Mathew is right about zero swing though but you would appreciate it if you do decide to take it in the woods. Bob
  17. Predictive text can be your worst enema ? It is odd that something so light and simple has not found its way onto trailers in this country, with a couple of pins fitted it would be removable. The alternative is a load sapping and expensive crane installation which I dont think would cope with the size of sticks that lad is dragging onto his trailer. Bob
  18. Simple adaption to a trailer to load big sticks.
  19. I hear you Mr Dumper but what most of us have a beef with is the ridiculous mark up on standard parts like filters, bearings and belts. I dont mind paying dealer prices for parts they have specially made. Bob
  20. They managed to shift this lot last night, they were still at it at midnight Bob
  21. Leaves no room for the guild of master craftesman logo , innit. Bob
  22. I am all for supporting local dealers until a price for a part makes me sit up. The big Rayco stump grinder has a multi banded belt ( four belts joined together) which from Rayco was over £900 delivered, local belt supplier can do the same belt for £80 so I ordered two of those. Pays to keep a list of filter, belts and bearing numbers with the relevant service sheet of the various machines so you can cross reference and shop about. Bob
  23. An accountant is merely a glorified book keeper and are generally not a good source for tips and tricks on tax evasion or avoidance. Speak to a tax consultant. Bob
  24. Nothing wrong with that, some of the most proficient and best paid climbers I know work out of the boot of a car. A couple of toppers , some climbing kit and a wealth of knowledge can serve you well. Bob
