  1. Kinellh e6G who signed that off ? Blunkett! boD
  2. We use one of those chippers on whispy vegetation , sharp blades and mixing in a balance of wood/leafy material at the same time works well.
  3. Apparently pulled over with an estate car and a rope, there was also an injury that needed hospital treatment Bob
  4. My old fitted is back on the scene and he is a landy nerd, I doubt if I would have bothered with this but he is all over it like a rash and is keen to get it done. Mick Dundee threw a sicky so the fitter and I made up a jig to position /pick up on all the bolt holes of the original , prepped it all up and it only took me about twenty minutes to weld it, there was a fair bit of work to get the thing set up though and glad there was no bodywork in the way. Nerdy fitter pointed out that someone has fitted the shocks with the washer the wrong way around, apparently the chamfer should go on the inside to allow the bush to move or it can snap off the shock mount.
  5. This according to the neighbour is the finished job
  6. A Nottingham woman, (pictured below) lost her case at Nottingham Magistrates Court today when she tried to sue "NUH Queens Medical Centre" after her husband went in for an operation which she claimed left him unable to have sex with her afterwards. Mrs Minger of Bulwell, aged 67, said to reporters outside court this afternoon, "Me and me 'usband Fred 'ave 'ad bangin' sex for years till 'e went ta 'ospital and 'ad 'is operation, now 'e's not interested n' it's all down to them twats" ! The surgeon who performed the operation and attended court to give evidence said, "All we did was remove Fred's Cataracts"
  7. Got the old rear crossmember off, twas very crispy The upside is the rest is completely rot free, trimmed the chassis back with a thin disc and wrapped the loom in some ceramic cloth. The new crossmember needed more than a tweek to get lined up, got there in the end but took a while. Not bad for a downhand mig weld While the wheels are off we are doing the rear bushes and brakes, for some strange reason the pads had dropped down and were eating through the brake discs.
  8. Fair mix of 4x4`s here and most will top 30mpg if driven carefully, ragged or towing they are all sub 25mpg. Bob
  9. The heat has not slowed the goblins down much, not seen any of them ( one of them is serious totty and gets assistance ) but they have shifted around a dozen loads this week Bob
  10. 1067 online users and that was on a quiet day, where has everyone gone? Bob
  11. Six pot 3000 series Massey with speedshift and booster gear. Put over 15000 mulching hours on one of these and I dont think I have come across a tougher tractor. That 6pot phaser engine is also easy to tweek extra HP from. Bob
  12. Way to many factors determine chain life but one thing is for sure is they do have a service life and that if its got that rattle on start up it needs changing. Its not a big or expensive job and may well save you from a lot of grief/expense at a later date. Internet is rammed full of inaccurate shite and myths on these subjects, chains do stretch and tensioners do fail/wear irrespective of engine type, a lad that works here has just had a timing chain fail on a 60k from new BMW, apparently a common problem . Ignore a noisy chain at your peril Bob
  13. I have done a few e6G, not too bad a job if you take the front of the van off first , its only a mornings work if you dont fanny about. As Ken says its worth buying the pin kits, timing covers are bonded on and you need to take care not to muller it taking it off or you will be buying a new one, I run a blow torch around the outer edge which helps. If you dont do it you will be looking at something like the one below at some point Bob One that shit itself a few years ago

    Regrowth.

Your work is worth more than a like Graham so I will top it off with a Bob
  15. Kinnel Bill, we have to bin all our lids when they get to three years old. Bob
  16. Well thats pissed on some fireworks, an arborist is semi skilled Serial killer job breakdown Top 3 Skilled Serial-Killer Occupations: 1. Aircraft machinist/assembler 2. Shoemaker/repair person 3. Automobile upholsterer Top 3 Semi-Skilled Serial Killer Occupations: 1. Forestry worker/arborist 2. Truck driver 3. Warehouse manager
  17. I have a guy on the road all day looking at work and he reckons its a bit quiet, that said we are busy and had to recently take on a few more guy`s. I always think quiet times are the golden opportunity to get out there and see whats about, sitting around waiting for the phone to ring is futile. Bob
  18. Its from premier supplies Lee so is probably a rebadged copy, I did ask the question and he said its from landrover but I doubt thats true. Its being fitted this weekend so I will report back http://www.premiersupply.co.uk/ Bob
  19. Feck all happening in this section so I am going to bore you all shitless with a bit of a landy refurb. Our old 90 has been neglected and for the last three years only used for dragging a roller and some chain harrows about the farm . Sort of forgotten about it but the engine despite showing the lions share of 300k miles is on the button and a good runner ,I rebuilt the gearbox a few years ago and fitted a new clutch so mechanically its all good. The rear cross member was a bit crispy and had been patched a few times but other than that its sound. Anyway its having a bit of a refurb and going back on the road, worth nothing as it is really so may as well make it roadworthy. Looking sad Lifted the rear body tub off because Mick Dundee wont grovel around underneath cars. Rear cross member has lost its newness. Nifty new rear crossmember comes with enough chassis extension to cut out all the rust in one hit , not bad for £135 Rubbers look a bit perished so may fit one of those polybush kits. Anyone here got any recomendations? Bob To be continued .............................................................
  20. Ye of little faith , that thing has had three tons in it so 800kg of grinder is nowt. Just need to make sure its loaded spot on in the middle or things can go a bit squiffy. Thats why I was there, the loonies would of had it in the drink Bob
  21. The turbo run down time and oil thing is from the day of shite oils , not necessary today but its obviously better to turn off a motor from idle rather than rev the balls off prior to shut down. The warm up thing with hydro-static drives is much the same as anything that's about to be worked hard, nothing with bearings belts or hydraulics should be caned when cold. Bob
  22. Ply bolted down on decent industrial draw units makes for a solid bench that will take a vice, done this and covered it in offcuts of that heavy duty lino thats used on hospital/school floors. Bob
  23. Farming is a bowl of cherries, just swan about in flash 4x4`s raking it in, bowl of cherries With brexit we have a real chance to make a difference for britains farmers , the government needs to strip the system back to bare bones and have a rethink on production, tariffs, ecology and subsidies. The agri policy we have in place does not work and its at a very high cost to the taxpayers. Bob
  24. No idea e6g , probably what someones is prepared to pay for it. Seems expensive for an old truck. Bob
