  1. A few pics of a patio my landscape lads did a few years ago, I never got to see it finished but we were back there doing other work a few days ago so took some snaps. This was all dug into the bank, a fair few tons of soil removed and a lot of aggregate went back in on the sub base .
  2. Cant see how anyone could kill themselves overworking, fatigue would set it long before that. Folk do burn out though and normally end up changing direction. Bob
  3. Steady on Chessa, matelot will have an accident if he reads this Bob
  4. Most days are ten or twelve hour days, have also done my share of eighteen hour days when needed but flip side of that is I can have as much time off as I want . My hours are fragmented in that I repair/service and move the kit about after hours to beat the traffic so I can take it easy the next day, puts everything where it needs to be so the lads can just turn up on site and crack on leaving me a bit of office/cafe time. Bob Edit: still beats being an employee
  5. When I was a gobby teenager I got endorsements on my license for parking on the pavement. I was unloading my van outside my house and plod asked me how my van got on the pavement, I told him I drove it there ( plus a few other things ) and I was duly knicked for driving a vehicle on a public footpath. Plod back then used to deliver a summons by hand and when they turned up they also parked on the pavement outside my house, shame camera phones were not around in those days. Bob
  6. I am working on it, need to find somewhere for twostroke to sit Bob
  7. If its cracked e6G`z it will be on the move so its a liner or just smear a few big dollops of clay over the cracks and refill quickly . Ponds used to be lined with unfired bricks to retain water. Bob
  8. It would appear from reading the various spec sheets that the glyphosate content/ratio seems to be the same throughout the leading brands, What seems to differ is the surfactant / rainstay capability and suitability in and around watercourses. Bob
  9. Steve how can anyone vote for option three if they dont own a computer? ? Tough phone for calls, I pad for on the move and pics , desktop indoors and the trusty laptop in the workshop. Cant get on with these modern phones because my peepers are not what they were and I have broken way too many. Bob
  10. Grabbed a couple of 20ltr tubs of roundup the other day from Mole country stores, seems to have had quite a substantial price hike in recent months. What else is there on the market of comparable strength without the £144 a tub price label? Bob
  11. They did manage to throw a track off our 20ton slew once while de silting a pumped out lake. The mud/slush was halfway up the track frame, twas a messy day Bob
  12. Over ten is good, fifteen is better if you can keep them all busy. Not so sure about stepping back and raking in the profits at that point but life does become a lot easier. Had to have six months off recently with a knackered back and the bastards not only managed just fine without me they never even missed me. I can feel another knackered back coming on ? Bob
  13. There have been big increases in timber prices both here and in the states, those odd part stacks lying about are now looking viable https://www.forestresearch.gov.uk/tools-and-resources/statistics/statistics-by-topic/timber-statistics/timber-price-indices/
  14. Two stroke on guard, dont fuck with the truck Bob
  15. Here you go Stubbs
  16. A lot of operators have their truck tacho`s calibrated on low profile tyres, once done they fit the full profiles back on which is why some of these trucks are hitting over 65mph. All the paperwork looks correct That snotty old Foden of mine will go off the clock when the limiter goes on the blink. Bob
  17. Not a bad guess Somewhere near the sports ground in Lymington ??? Bob
  18. Everything solar I have seen to date has been very underwhelming , some of the output figures are based on blazing sunshine directly onto the panel and unless the panel tracks the sun you are highly unlikely to get a fraction of the claimed output. If its just water you want to lift build a small version of windmill pump, beat that with yer urlectrickery Bob
  19. One of those gypsy tarts just came up to me in the garage up the road and asked for a fiver so she could take her sick aunt who has "dimension " to the hospital. Bob
  20. I am between Andover and Stockbridge , your clue is gritty feathers. Where am I? Bob
  21. I dont think I could slum it in the back of a van Mr Hewn but I have had a fair few overnights in the lorry cab on two day mulching jobs when they are a bit of a jaunt from home. Anymore than a night in the truck and its a B+B or a travel lodge. Bob
  22. Twas about 56p a liter last time around, in fairness to to OP the price does yoyo and discounts kick in on volume. Bob
  23. e6G, spec was gadget was to be on a six inch concrete base, half filled with water and then backfilled with pea shingle. That hole was over 4.5 mts deep and shittank position was critical so before the lads launched 20 ton of shingle around it I got them to rest the bucket of the machine on it to keep it steady. They have got a few more of these to do so will get some snaps. b0D
