  1. Mr Gasket, take a squint at a wood cracker. Far easier to split and stack than with a cone
  2. Business for sale= Fuck this game ,I’m better off stacking shelves. Opportunity for lead climber= Need someone to control the other idiots onboard. Vacancy for ground staff= We have killed off the ones we had. Recent respray ( blue ?)= A turd rolled in glitter. Recent overhaul.= Reserected from the dead. Low hours= New clock fitted recently. Ex utilities = Beaten harder than a Paki’s mule by guys that don’t give a toss. Bob
  3. Chris, if you just want a winch for pulling big trees over and not skidding get a proper winch tractor. All the time a winch is on a three-point linkage you are a tractor down, can't say I have been that impressed with any of them either. The old dog below has had to go out and rescue the day on many an occasion where a supposed "dogs bollocks" winch has failed, normally pulling from so high at the back it lifts the tractors front wheels off the ground or the anchor plate can't get into the ground to be effective.
  4. Don't worry about the Caravan Utilising Nomadic Tree Surgeons undercutting prices or ripping people off because everything they earn or rob from people kills them and will normally end up back in the government's coffers. They lead a shite life so stressed to fuck over money and greed that they all die early, suicide rates among them are also six times that of humans. They all hide their money in bogus accounts/wrong names because they don't want anyone to know what they have or where it is, this includes their own family members. When they buy and sell property in wrong names they leave the money in the solicitor's client account to avoid money transfers, same again if they die all this unclaimed money will eventually end up back in the government's coffers. Refreshing thought Bob
  5. Nothing fancy here, just scraping up the mush and a few loads of crushed with fines in a loading area. Another small road just started through a RPZ , will be using the protector web as on the first page here. This one needs to support STGO`s so could see trucks north of 60 tons drive over it. Rain held off long enough for the concrete in the entrance to set.
  6. There has been one hovering and snooping over properties around here most weekends, it's getting a forced landing the next time it's in range. Bob
  7. I think Mr Downer has got exactly what he asked for and agreed to, he has obviously agreed to them leaving the chip and chogs. He queries the amount of firewood left but as Steve pointed out they may well of had a big chipper. Can't see this as anything other than a beef over the time taken vs price, would Woo have cared so much if this tree team had titted about and taken two days? Bob
  8. Looks more like a suicide bid than an accident. With luck the poor chap will recover long before the accident report/HSE shitfest is written up. I don`t even know why he was up there , if it was a fell and there was enough room for the limb he was cutting there was enough for the whole tree. Why remove weight from that side if it can be felled? Bob
  9. Not a Christmas hater but think there should be a Wham and Sladeaggedon, both being beaten to death on the radio at the moment Bob
  10. Its a Blec seeder, Turfleet hire out this sort of kit . https://www.turfleet-hire.co.uk/ Bob
  11. Poly rope is ok on a capstan if you give it an extra couple of wraps, if you don't it will slip and start to melt. We use it on long pulls through mud and crap where you wouldn't want to use a decent rope. Bob
  12. No mention of the model/make of mewp which makes it hard to comment, does sound like a light leg sensor problem though ( if fitted). Bob
  13. This made me laugh
  14. On AT`s or Muds that are paired up on twin wheelers you do need to make sure there is a decent gap between the sidewalls when loaded or they will burst. The heat generated with sidewalls touching will take the tyres out. Bob
  15. Should make for a nice setup Lee. I think you will be grateful of the brakes/handbrake, that could be a bit of a handful on uneven ground if it was uncoupled. The axle centered and the associated rear overhang will focus your mind a bit if anything like driving a rear lift rigid truck, the overhang can end up taking up both lanes on a turn. Bob
  16. Tirfor only gets a few outings a year and today was one of them, A gurt stump roadside that needed ripping out and no space for a big machine or the Boughton, used an adjacent tree to anchor off and teased it out with the tirfor /mini digger.
  17. Its a failing of the education system as far as I am concerned, schooling is so tick box and league table orientated these days that gcse`s etc are worthless, employers are now only looking for A level students which normally means staying on for another couple of years. For those not interested in a career requiring all this crap early release should be an option. Intelligence, common sense and business acumen are either in someone or not, it's certainly not something you can learn from a bunch of lefty school teachers. Many a school drop out has done well for themselves, the likes of Richard Branson and most of the multi-millionaire property developers are school dropouts. Fixed that for you Mario Bob
  18. That's me Mick Was expelled from school for unruly behavior ( being a complete twat) which was a bit of a shame because I was actually doing well there. Got straight into engineering of varied sorts from the age of sixteen which evolved in later years to building and adapting forestry machines , was doing this for about ten years when a customer who was also a good friend of mine had a stroke, his wife was also seeking a divorce at the time. Long story short, he was running his own forestry business and I ended up having to buy it complete with machines and staff. So thrown in the deep end about thirty years ago, I took on all of his guys at the time so was in good company and able to learn fast Still here and enjoy it but its not in my blood. Bob
  19. DVSA have been pulling 3.5 tonners and trailers for a long time, a lad I know with one of those cab over engine pickups with a roller door box behind the cab for tools ( cab star type thing) was pulled at Leatherhead and had to order a taxi for his passenger because the front axle was over with both of them in it. They are also onto the tractors and trailers now, they know some of the big HP tractors are north of ten tons, with a max trailer weight of eighteen tons and combinations maxing at 31 tons there is not much in the way of a legal payload no matter which way you load it. Proper size trucks are looking like better value these days. Bob
  20. Need, greed and feed With age and weariness it subsides a little but generally unless there is a goal you may as well hang up your boots. Bob
  21. Is that not the poor chap that had a fall and was left paralysed? Bob
  22. We are in clay here and I replanted lots of Laurel , took the advice of the greenfingered collective here and they have all survived. Bob
  23. Just fit a flick switch on the trailer that switches the fogs over to reverse lights ( blue wire) . I have done this before and fitted led reversing lights down both sides and the back of the trailer Bob
