  1. If its not in store Jon go online https://www.aldi.co.uk/search?q=ferrex%3Apopular&page=0 Bob
  2. Bought some of that Ferrex cordless gear from Aldi to stop the lads on landscape from taking my dewalt gear from the workshop out on site , bit of a confession here and have to admit its actually pretty good. Its a 20v/40v system where the 20v gear can be used with the 40v batteries I have used the drill, screwdriver rattle gun and grinder, I also thought I would try the 40v chainsaw as they only need it to cut up the occasional sleepers and fence posts. The 20v/40v 5amph batteries last forever on the 20v drills and grinders, in the saw they also last as long as the batteries on my stihl battery saw that I keep in the machines. Nothing much here to not like with a three year warranty. Bob Drill £20 https://www.aldi.co.uk/ferrex-20v-cordless-drill-skin/p/097661269776300 Driver £20 https://www.aldi.co.uk/ferrex-cordless-impact-driver-skin/p/097667269284200 Grinder £25 https://www.aldi.co.uk/ferrex-cordless-angle-grinder-skin/p/097663269776500 Chainsaw £50 https://www.aldi.co.uk/ferrex-40v-cordless-chainsaw-skin/p/097672269776900 Charger £15 https://www.aldi.co.uk/activ-energy-battery-charger/p/097880273773800 Batteries, worth going for these https://www.aldi.co.uk/activ-energy-20v-40v-battery/p/097877273773600
  3. If you are looking for large quantities and quality use this company https://www.vdberk.co.uk/ Bob
  4. A gas axe in the right hands wont damage the shaft
  5. Paul Larkham is worth a call on 077779803654, Farnham based but delivers locally. Bob
  6. y0ur kNot aloan mR, seen plenty of this with other families and my own. I started to sort out my affairs a few years ago and everything I have will be given to my kids before I push up daisies. There will be no shitfest when I have gone . Bod
  7. Forgot to mention that all these chogs are only from domestics, its not always possible to drag sticks out of Mrs Miggins garden:) Timber we cut on site does go straight off for biomass or log wood no matter how small. Bob
  8. We used to Chris but the return for handling it is poor when you consider the time, labour, machinery and yard space involved. Ok as a totally separate business no doubt but most that have got involved in that game around here have given up and those that stockpile it for chip are tripping over the stuff. Bob Edit: just been out there and that lot has nearly gone, just a few chogs left
  9. If we bring in contract climbers we tend to go for teams, I prefer a climber to come with his/her own groundie and kit. Climbers/groundstaff are far more productive if they gel, £350 a day for a decent climber, groundie and all their own kit is not out of the way around here. Bob
  10. Something to keep the Goblins busy for the weekend, they have cleared the same as this every day for a few days now
  11. The 500i engine was trialled in concrete saws before it was used in a chainsaw. Chatting to one of the lads in HB`s the other day about the 500i, he reckons they have sold quite a few and there have been no reliability issues, being ex job he still gets to use one on occasion and reckons they are a very nice saw. Anyone here ran one long enough to pass comment ? Bob
  12. You could always trim the wall back two feet both sides of the tree and get some railings made to bridge the gap. If the railings transoms were incorporated into the brickwork it would add some rigidity , if they were brought to the face side of the wall that would give the tree another 9" of movement. Tree looks like it could do with losing a bit of weight roadside though. Bob
  13. There are only really two choices with rhody. Get a decent slew with a power rake, grub the lot out and burn all arisings , cheapest way is mulch the lot and spray off the regen. Bob Or mulch and spray off regen
  14. A few more pics of oddsnsods. Got 22 hop hornbeams and pin oaks to plant in a field to denote a boundary, erected a tree guard around one for client to approve and someone has kicked off about it needing planning permission. . New one on me but apparently they are classed as an enclosure. The drive that goes with the threshold on previous page Some landscaping works we are doing on a very steep garden, forming tiers by importing fill. About 1000 tons needed
  15. Al your circled gizmo looks like a sender unit for a leccy oil pressure gauge , if it was mine I would forget about the dipstick for now. Just drain it of oil and refill with a couple of gallons of fresh oil just to get it running. Bob
  16. At a guess I would say the spare brass terminal on ignition switch is an earth 592 × 353 592 × 353
  17. Pulled it out of an old atlas copco compressor about ten years ago and its been living under a tarp ever since. I reckon with a drop of squirt and some leads it will fire up and run like a swiss watch Bob
  18. There is one of those 3 pot perkins engines here Al, as said above the dipstick is in the sump right next to the filter housing. Bob
  19. I fitted a set of these on the kennel https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173865744887?ViewItem=&item=173865744887 Good road manners in the wet and dry, none too shabby off road either, Bob

    Jordan

Not me e6Gs, its probably more like a burst couch .A few useful snippets of information , British paratroopers have just entered Jordan again https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/british-paratroopers-train-in-jordan/ Peter Andre was successful in his recent job application at a foundry because of his knowledge of slags and his ability to handle a big spade. 8oD

Looks like they have gone tits up. A few bargains to be had http://www.sia-group.co.uk/online-auctions/ Bob
  22. Its no problem knocking up a new wheel, I have an old clunker of a lathe and mill so it wont cost more than about £30 for a decent blank and a few hours of an evening to spin one up . I just need to find something I can measure and copy. Bob
  23. It gets used a lot and has not missed a beat, teeth are ok but the bolts supplied break quite often so I have upgraded them. I bought a load of spare teeth but as soon as they are gone I will redrill the wheel to take greenteeth. Bob
  24. It could possibly work if it was a bespoke build. You have the possibility of 3.5 ton behind a 4x4 , if a 750kg chipper was split in two with the chipper part mounted on the back of the trailer and the power pack on the drawbar to balance it you could mount a side tip chip box in the middle. Admittedly it would be a one trick pony but its more than feasible and would still have a better legal payload than a transit, as its a self contained unit it could also be left working on a job leaving the tow truck free to run about which is more than you can do with a normal truck/chipper combo. Just sayin Bob
