  1. Just tell them you have dropped bigger trees on better houses than theirs Bob
  2. We can get money for log wood in handle able sizes but never had any takers for softwood other than these http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/80713-log-goblins.html Getting about £450 a load for loads like this off the log boys.
  3. <p>Cooks winch now sold, there is another that needs a revamp for £250 but has no spades,it was taken off a crawler. Also a Hesketh winch for 3 point linkage, no rope £300.</p>

  4. That or my old 580c with foot pedals and levers Bob
  5. The selector fork has taken the hub to far back and it looks like the locks have popped out Gray. Get a magnet on a stick and you may be able to find them in the bottom of the box if they have not been mashed. They sometimes have a spring and ball pushing them up or a spring clip. If you get stuck I have a knackered RB transfer box in the shed I can rob bits off Bob A bit like this http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=198722&stc=1&d=1455146426
  6. In they absence of test equipment Gerbutt I would take the battery off the truck and charge it, then take the truck somewhere and get it checked out. Jump starting or using booster packs on these transits can spike the injector pump and cause them to fail. Bob
  7. Not to many left that could walk one of those across a site Eddie. Bob
  8. 95% + on site clearance 50% or less of domestics 99% of Rhodi/laurel/gorse and general scrub bashing Bob
  9. Thats the same as we run, the problem with them is that when the diff locks /cross locks are in there are eight wheels driving and little to no steering, that said its only ever needed assistance to get off site on one occasion. Its all about planning your journey in and out of these places
  10. Does look like a neat bit of kit. Fair few sold http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TIMBERLINE-CHAINSAW-SHARPENER-CHAIN-SHARPENER-WITH-CARBIDE-CUTTER-OF-YOUR-CHOICE-/311263946635?var=&hash=item4878c6e78b:m:midIuQuA0xSfW9gwgJ4sZUw [ame] [/ame]
  11. TCD you are a grumpy git You must have gotten behind someone like my dear old mum, she believes that motorways have a slow, medium and fast lane. She will go along with the lorries at about fifty and if she wants to do sixty she moves out into the middle lane. If she`s felling a bit racy she will move into the outside lane and do seventy. Bob
  12. Our old 4X4 MK bowser which goes about 12 + ton full of water gets to places fully loaded no ordinary lorry or even a 4x4 pickup would stand a hope in hell of getting to. Anyway feast your eyes on these Mercs, 4x4 some with a 10ton payload and allowed 19tons of trailer behind them. Mercedes truck 4x4, 75 ads of used Mercedes truck 4x4 Bob
  13. Ladders Vs telehandler:w00t: Ladder Vs roadsign
  14. Well as I see it at the moment the best medium sized truck for the job seems to be an 18tonner with a decent train weight and piped for air ,4x4 a bonus ,with rear mount crane with extended reach+ piped for a grab, lift off tipper sides, tipper bed to take bolsters, a winch up its chuff for pulling wood in, lockers on the chassis . Anything missing? Edit, top seat on the crane and loads of worklights. Bob
  15. I registered the Iveco 6x6 Ag so that is automatically on the TFL register as an exempt vehicle. Mrs Miggins would have a heart attack if you pulled it onto her drive:laugh1:
  16. As above, the normal pto off a gearbox is only good for about 30hp. Webster make a PTO that interrupts the prop after the gearbox that can handle every thing you can throw at it.Just select 4th gear or whichever is 1.1 direct drive (important) disengage prop drive and all is good. Sort out rotation and pto speed at the back of the truck with a drop box.Hydraulics for arms, roller feeds etc are best off an engine driven pump with electromagnetic clutch which then makes it easy to have a kill button on the back of the truck. Just happen to have one in the bin Any of these 4x4 trucks can be exempt as a mog is on ag rules, normal lorries converted for forestry or ag use can also apply for exemption with the form and supporting evidence like photos from here. Each case is judged on its merits so you need to lay it on a bit thick. A bolstered timber truck with crane is OK. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/low-emission-zone/check-if-your-vehicle-is-affected/exemptions-and-discounts Bob
  17. Side tip is good if you have a machine to tidy up after you, if you tip off to the left hand side of the truck its full righthand down as you drive off. No doubt you will be running over some of whats been tipped off anyway but its not a problem. I am with Pete on the rear mount crane ,I cant see there being a problem with the chassis, the mog chassis is no where near as beefy as the truck and thats been fine for fifteen years plus on a side tip. Nice truck you have there Fen Bob
  18. We touched on this before but its also worth looking at the train weights of some trucks. Our little ten tonner is allowed eight tons of trailer behind it, if its piped for trailer air and plated you may find you have a truck that could also pull a timber trailer legally. A side tip truck with rear mount crane would lend itself for this. Bob
  19. Its no help if you dont get the truck back until you cough up though, the bill was a shock but the truck was off the road for a month which is worse and ironically he had to get his old Scania out to fill in. Brilliant old truck A few of my mates are into transport and they all take the mick out of my old Foden except when I have to go out and recover them on my lowlaoder from as far afield as Manchester , this has happened on at least six occasions in the last few years. They reckon the only reason VOSA leave me alone is because they will run out of ink before they finish their shift:laugh1: Top tip, keep away from modern HGV trucks unless they are contract maintained, Bob
  20. The older none electronic trucks are the way to go, a friend of mine has upgraded his Scanias and has regretted it, he has a bill on the table for north of 10K for an injection problem thats still there. After changing just about everything they decided it was an ecu fault, and thats a Scania main dealer. Bob
  21. I bought a load of the potted Thuja`s @ 6` to go round the school for her in doors as a bit of a wind break and they have done really well. Most are at about 12` now, they can take a hammering if you want to knock them back. The ones to the right are against the ditch, big difference to the ones on the left that are about ten feet away. All planted at the same time, so they like a drink .
  22. On the fleetplan the artic with three trailers is the same money to insure as the landrovers, anydriver @ about £1500 a year. Bob
  23. +1 on the 385`s fitted to the front axle, just make sure you fit the spray suppression whiskers round the arch if the wheel is within an inch of outside of the truck. After many years of a pass this was picked up on at a test and given a fail, fitted the whiskers and all was well. How about an urban artic with a crane behind the cab and a few trailers like tipper, timber and plant. One of those is shorter than a landrover and trailer of the same size and will bend in anywhere a lot easier than a rigid. Just thoughts. Bob
  24. Always speak to and befriend the greenkeepers prior to moving kit about on a golf course, they will advise the best route and keep you off the sensitive area`s. Bob
  25. I thought the word emergency was mentioned, hanging around for a cab would not cut it for me. The only thing I would class as an "emergency" would be to do with family , I would go immediately. Bob
