1. Another anchor for sure if possible. Attach to the tractor and you double the load on the plate/spades. Bob
2. The way I see it is a pickup can always be a van with a top on but a van will never be a pickup. Bob
3. There are two 038 av`s in the saw dungeon ,which type is it you are after? Bob Edit. there is a top cover on one of them thats not pretty but is serviceable.
4. It sounds like the expenses are pretty much set in stone Timon as is for most of us. It may be better to look at some of the work and figure out a way of rattling through it all a bit quicker, maybe a few more hands on deck or invest in some mechanical handling. Just thoughts Bob
5. Gary you will find it asleep in the van while the others are working or hiding behind a tree while on the phone texting its mates, I hope this helps Bob
6. This made me laugh https://www.facebook.com/1073078009383160/videos/vb.1073078009383160/1140530915971202/?type=2&theater&notif_t=comment_mention
7. I thought you were going to punch a hole in the roof with that thing Ste The lads have been cutting and burning gorse /scrub for a couple of weeks . no big kit allowed on the site so we adapted the three tonner and stuck a grab straight on the end of the arm. Its only for burning up so no rotator needed and piped it off the crowd so its all on the levers.
8. Our fleetplan insurance is with Aviva, I think the artic and three trailers for own goods is about the £1500 ish fully comp. Its up for renewal in a month so I might try Trust and the NFU for a quote. One thing I would say about Aviva is they will insure oddball trucks and reduce the cost for laid up vehicles like the watering bowser that only comes out for a few months of the year. Bob
9. This is growler down here EgGZ http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=199171&stc=1&d=1455621625
10. Engine oil filter ( ph4990b Fram or the equivalent ) fits the kubota engine, I have been using them for years. In bulk they are about £2 each. The truck depot down the road seems to be able to get the air filters etc. Bob
11. I can only think of one woodland that we work thats not got a problem with dog walkers and general public. The guy has enclosed the entire woodland with deer fencing, if and when he leaves the gate open is the only time anyone gets in. The forestry op signage is a must but totally ineffective at keeping anyone from wandering into the work zone. Despite footpath closed signs at the woodland carpark and warning signs each end of a track we were mulching you can just see a hapless walker wandering down the track in the distance. You need eyes in the back of your head. Bob
12.

Ag spec 406 mog up for grabs, may break for spares. Starts and drives, pto front and rear with cascade gearbox and three point linkage . Cab is a rag top ( tatty) and some panels need welding, mechanicals all good but does need going through as its been stood for yonks. £4k

13. Pay £50 into the childrens charity on here and the bracket / alternator is yours Donate Bob
14. That bracket with the damaged bolt is only held onto the engine with half a dozen bolts, it may be easier to take it of now and work on it on the bench. you only need to take the steering pump bolts off to see the rest of them that hold it on. If you want the bracket + bolts off the scrap engine above let me know and I will post it off for you. Bob
15. I bet you lot were not that sad when your palms were crossed with the sheckles for your worn out old kit , take the money and run . Bob
16. Probably not the easiest of bolts to get to with anything really, if you chop the head of the bolt off I doubt if there is enough room down the side of the chassis for the alternator to clear anyway. I think you need to look at the options listed and try and undo the bolt. Bob Pics of the feckers
17. I dont think the rep is paid enough Will SS trading do make grinding wheels, I had a search about and this kit is available. Stump Grinder Tooth Sharpening | Blades LLC Bob
18. I did ask the same question Stephen ,the operator who had developed the thing with the fitters had them cut the back out because the machine could not pick up or drag the bucket through the soil without the windows. Driver reckons as is its perfect. Bob
19. Not ours but worthy of a post. Groundworkers on a job we are on have made the mother of all ditch forming buckets out of a digging bucket and some cutting edges. Measures 4mts across, its on a 22ton machine . Men in sheds:thumbup1: Bob
20. Good thread Mick:001_smile: I will let you know how my day was when its finished, probably ten pm Bob
21. A contract can be verbal and legally binding , I would track down the guy that gave the ok for the job and get him to sign a affidavit to confirm the work order. As he was employed by the hotel at the time he will be deemed as their agent. No wriggling out of that one. Bob
22. I dont know how you have structured your business but if you were hiring all your kit in ( and that can be hired in from yourself to your own buisness under an agreement) a simple hired in plant insurance would cover all those bits and pieces that would otherwise be a ballache to insure. Bob
23. Just curious here .Can a qualified driver as in someone that has a full license sit in with a non trailer license holder if they put the L plates back on ? Bob
