The cutting out sounds like you need to adjust the L screw out a bit for more fuel and then adjust the tickover accordingly.

I have an old Willans harness (generously donated to me on here and still does the job) that I use to anchor myself and I dread to think how old it is, I would be happy to use an eight year old one

It's like déjà vu all over again this thread. I got a Dynamac DY41 from Machine Mart about 25 years ago, still running since I learnt how to fix them. It's heavy for a 41cc saw.

If it's letting more air in it should do the opposite and weaken the mixture on any saw till the auto tune corrects the mixture.

If you get the right size stove it will do the job but if you get a 6kw stove and put radiators on it you are splitting the output. If the water takes 3kw you will not still get 6kw out of the stove just the total divided.
