OK thanks a lot - I really didn't think it was Ash but my skills are 1/10 so I am totally going with your verdict of Ash I will let it season for a good long while so I am looking forward to see how it burns Luckily we had a fully grown beech come down this winter and have gotten tons (literally) of wonderful wood out of that
  2. the wood is light (not heavy) no pith splits very very easily - easiest I have ever known
  3. yes wondering if its worth splitting and drying

  5. Hi, Could anyone help me identify species? The pictures are attached. It is a very pale wood inside and splits so easily. Grain very far apart. Thanks,
