  1. We've got a Hunter Parkray Consort 7....don't know if its exactly modern but its not too traditional either...I absolutely love it, it runs flat out all winter.
  2. For pedestrian a carlton 2010 is cheaper but capable (secondhand) but will make you feel like you've had a bit of a beasting at the end of the day, a predator 460 is a much nicer machine to use, but dunno how good it would last long term, I hire the buggers when i need one.
  3. fair enough mate.
  4. sounds a good way to be picking pieces of metal out of yourself or worse....have messed around with bird scarer bangers a fair bit when I was a lad but petrol can be very nasty...
  5. 5 years for an illegal firearm mate.....
  6. @chopper brown bit of a thread revival, I need a tractor and winch for a couple of big oaks and a beech in the near future, did you ever get yours set up? I have been perving at Majors and Boughtons on ebay ?
  7. Yep someones tearing you a new one mate ? yes remingtons aren't great but very cheap!
  8. Holmbush Guns, near Horsham, 38gr Remingtons. They don't have the knockdown power of 42gr Winchester, which are about 4p a go I think, but are fine for practise, crows out in the field etc.
  9. .17HMR as mentioned by Stubby has pretty much zero risk of ricochet, however rounds are a lot more expensive than .22lr. Yes .22lr will ricochet if care isn't taken, however since having one I am astounded at the performance difference when you compare the prices to some of the high end pcps. Background checks etc are just that. If you have nothing to hide why worry? I have a very decent firearms officer locally though, appreciate this can differ area to area.
  10. Just to throw something else into the mix, providing you have been a (reasonably) good boy in the past, and can get the land signed off, a .22 Rimfire is way better than any air rifle, I sold a .22 Bsa Scorpion and divers bottle for £450, bought a CZ 452 .22 with moderator and ten shot mag for £300, already had a cabinet, rounds are 4 quid for 200, you can then hit out to 150 yards comfortably, and will ensure a much more humane kill. Foxes are also possible, if not very well approved by plod.

Hi Stubby, how much is the combi system? Also still need a bar and chain for that saw?
  12. Have been here, is it right the Oaks were topped due to the beheading of Lady Jane Grey, or is it an urban myth? in either case some really varied looking specimens!
  13. So people can come and "borrow" it?
  14. Agreed! ? Thank you Stubby, just found a 3120K IPL which shows the same parts.....next question is would it be worth fitting the parts?
  15. Just asking as my own 3120 could do with a bigger air filter....
  16. So I recently missed this saw on ebay, however I have never seen a High top air filter for this model saw before, and cannot find it on any of the available IPL's on the internet? @spudulike @Sveriges
  17. Hi J, I used to drive a U2100 around those lanes with a serra bavaria on the back, they're not too bad. I was based just outside Cullompton too. I have a few contacts in the area although I'm somewhat east of there now, PM if you like.
  18. Splitting firewood with an axe on a cold, dry, day when the ground is frozen. Cruising down a country lane at the end of a hard days work in the summer with the windows down, something relaxing on the stereo looking forward to a cold beer. Decoying pigeons when they are just dropping into the pattern and you can hardly reload fast enough.
  19. Ollie Turner at Inside Out 4x4 is worth a shout for parts, but the lane to his unit is slow death to suspension components.
  20. Is a t5 rated to tow that much?
  21. I have an old 3120xp, I bought it secondhand, it has a manufacture date of 1994 on the saw, it still puts in a hard days work and requires minimal maintenance. I have used a friends 880 and didn't think there was much between them. Both heavy, terrible anti vibes and not something you want to be using unless you really need to. Can't comment on the milling aspect as never done any. But Reg Coates has a 3120xp....nuff said
  22. doesn't look like much of a hinge.....done well for a driveway specialist to dismantle something that big though?
  23. Or buy a Husqvarna
  24. I got a 576xp stuck in a big limb on a fallen beech, then pinched the 3120xp (bought along to ring the trunk up) and had to cut both free with a T540xp (yes I used it on the ground)
