  1. no, they're ok. climbing isnt their main focus they only do a few bits.
  2. I bought a rough off farm 110 hicap in 2009 from my ex boss for 2250. I have run it hard ever since with regular trips from devon to west sussex and in that time i have replaced the gearbox, transfer box, numerous bearings, rebuilt the top end of the engine, new turbo, some welding, new rad, steering box the list goes on and on. However being handy with spanners and having a mate with a welder meant i have only ever had to pay for parts and beer. in that time it has been a tough dependable workhorse. even when it broke you could usually limp it home. I gave it a respray 4 years ago which tidied up the appearance and sold it three weeks ago for 4200. oh yes, I only sold its as i have bought another one
  3. Shout out to Petzl UK! Local distributor wasn't interested in taking it as I hadn't bought it from them, Petzl UK asked me to post direct to them and sent me a replacement in 5 working days
  4. Cheers any photos?
  5. Paddocks are usually sharp, don't know if these will fit? http://www.paddockspares.com/25585r16bfgmt2-255-85r16-bfg-mud-terrain-t-a-km2-tyre-only.html
  6. This Oak was pulled over against a slight lean and with a lot of back weight. Land Rover anchored to a ranger due to soft ground and using a snatch block off the apple tree.
  7. Has anyone on here fitted LED headlights to their Defender? quite fancy some now there are more affordable ones out there....
  8. Thanks for the replies guys.
  9. Thank you, do I need to take it to who I bought it from or just a petzl stockist?
  10. My Zigzag, bought from Buxtons (I think) at the apf in 2014 has cracked...do I bin it or can it be repaired? This has had only occasional use as I am not a full time climber.
  11. having done a few night time call outs, I would say a head torch, (I use the Petzl one, it clips to both my husky ground lid and petzl vertex) is a brilliant asset to add to 4x4 lights. My Defender has additional roof lights but when you are working with your back to the vehicle, as you often will be, a head torch illuminates your immediate area.
  12. pm'd you.
  13. Ok thanks that's what I was wondering.
  14. How is this insured?
  15. LR3 much cheaper to run. Parts for range rovers are ££££
  16. That would come down to driver skill surely? I know when I have 3.5 tons sat behind me my situational awareness is greatly increased compared to if I am just driving to the shops? As to how Land Rover came up with the weights I have no idea, I am guessing there had to be some form of tests/formula..... Fact is not being able to tow 3.5 would be very frustrating as IMO driven sensibly a 110 at least (not having much experience of a 90) is perfectly capable of stopping and starting the load. Off road, (obviously) I have hooked up to at least 4 ton and although due to ground conditions needed low box to break it out, the 110 will pull it happily.
  17. interesting one this.....I have a '96 110 HCPU (official Gross weight 3050), which feels solid with a fully loaded 12x6 ifor behind it, whereas works Nissan Navara np300 King Cab which is 3035, feels bullied around by the same load. Obviously the Defender is a lot slower, therefore you are less likely to be driving faster than you should, however having towed extensively with both vehicles apart from the comfort side of things I would always chose the LR if I have a trailer to tow. Could it be the beam axle setup of a Land Rover puts the weight nearer the ground? Just asking? While we are talking about towing the single best towing vehicle I have used is a Discovery 3, feels totally solid and could pull a train....and has done!
  18. Try Dave Welch @ Hillside Timber - 07825 944822 - he's based near Exeter Airport, good with one off projects.
  19. Wildwoods Farm has a Greenwaste site or used to, is in Marldon on the road out to Totnes. Gav Berlyn runs it, will charge for greenwaste but may take the above for free. pm me for Mobile.
  20. Eurogreen in Worthing, have recently been bought out so under new management, green waste recycling and landscape supplies. They also do muck away, they have a grab lorry or two. http://www.topsoilwestsussex.co.uk/
  21. I have a 110, Mate had a 130, not a huge amount of difference actually, except 130 has better capacity. If you put wheels with a decent offset on a 130 then the turning circle won't be much different to a 110 with standard rims in any case. Worth mentioning he sold his 130 for an Iveco tipper, for the increased (illegal) payload. Unless you need it for off road access a van is unfortunately a better option business wise....but Defender's look cooler!
  22. Much better than a traditional log grab, as I am sure many others on this thread will tell you.
  23. Was using this set up recently, grab was a bit heavy for the 5 tonner but a nice machine to use.
  24. off their global website.....bit of a looker
