  1. And bar studs. Don't say that too fast ? There's a lot of 560 bashing, however I have one a 2014 model, with a 562 top cover and air filter, the muffler has been opened up a bit by @spudulike and it has been absolutely faultless. The only non wearing parts I have replaced have been a couple of clutch springs. Not bad in 6 years.
  2. I think @northumbriaforestry uses a quad and trailer a bit?
  3. Got some oak cord, felled about a month ago. Would be something in there. Am near Horsham.
  4. Cut it down. Bugger will only grow like a weed and drop crap everywhere. Only good thing about Eucs is they are good for shooting pigeons out of. Something to do with lots of small dead twigs good for nest building and a nice open canopy so you can see the feathery little sods.
  5. Think they're actually aloominum. They also wear great tall leather boots with spikes in the soles, called "caulks" I think.
  6. All Land Rovers are money pits! I have a td5 dcpu, love it, before that had a 300tdi 11 hcpu for 10 years. If you can't spanner and weld, don't buy a land rover. They are a disease. But I love em! ?
  7. They tow a dream but if they are not scrupulously maintained and not thrashed are expensive to run. For that money a TD5 Discovery 2, tows well, you can pick up for around a grand, and have money spare to fix it. Basically a Defender with comfier seats.
  8. They are a bloody good chipper. Like a Defender is a good offroader. But both need maintenance, and the owners need to be aware that bits can and will fall off.
  9. Basically they have been flooding the market with highly aggressive but slightly dodgy long term chippers for the last 5? years, with good finance packages. Anyone with any sense knows that once a forst is beyond its 3 years warrantee it's a lottery, if it's had a mechanically sympathetic owner operator it's probably fine, if not then good luck. Ask @Pete B for further details. Other more established manufacturers tend to get a higher secondhand value.
  10. I had a kick back when I was 16. Pre doing any tickets. Cut about 20mm into the peak on the front of the hat. Trashed the visor. Bicton college asked to keep the helmet as a training aid when I did my tickets there. If you are in West sussex I have a medium size pair of arbortec breathflex trousers, hardly worn, you can have them for £50.
  11. Have also noticed this, and wondered how it can be sustainable, did hear a rumour they have been exporting some of the used stock? can imagine Eastern Europe and developing countries might not be too fussy about the condition of a used chipper?
  12. Agree absolutely. Think its a bit like the Husky/Stihl debate. Forst/Husqvarna tend to be fine with owner operators/people with a bit more mechanical sympathy, however if not maintained well can have issues. From what I have seen of them Jensen were a bit tougher, and Stihl are rumoured to put up with abuse a bit better.
  13. I thought the ST6P was also designed to be under 750kg? I like your informed input on the forum but being a chipper manufacturer yourself can imagine that Forst's meteoric climb in market share must have given yourself and a few other manufacturers a bit of toothache. I haven't used a timber wolf or a petrol Forst, I have used the ST6 and ST8, TR8 a fair bit, and although you do occasionally get small fixings dropping off lol they do chip like animals...
  14. Another vote for le chameau. unrivalled comfort, last for years, best place to get them pricewise is sportsman gun centre in exeter, they do have a website.
  15. Think SA police use Labs for pulling down crims?
  16. A Leatherman knife is always a welcome present, I have two, and still look at the displays and try to justify buying another one!
  17. Hi, I am interested if you need it removed FOC? ? Milling is only a hobby for me so can't afford to pay for the timber. Based near horsham so can remove it from site if you want it gone.
  18. Have you modified it at all? if it has a straight through center pipe, and egr delete, theres a bloke called Dynachip with a very good rep who can tweak it to 170ish. With a big intercooler, variable boost turbo, and a stronger manifold I believe you can go to about 240.
  19. I donated some cuttings to the Brockham bonfire. Thats pretty big. Sorry haven't got any photos but they have a website.
  20. Try Coppards hire, they do Avants with timber grabs if thats any good?
  21. And old established small arb companies who are happy to work for peanuts. I am not a million miles away from you Alasdair, I have a full time job (not in arb) however I do some arb work part time. Before I get branded any of the above I am NPTC qualified (for what thats worth) and have public liability and employee cover. I have never advertised but get a reasonable amount of work via word of mouth from friends and family. I recently priced a large conifer hedge, (approx 4 metres wide, 8 metres high and about 15-20 metres long) to side and top, client wanted about a metre off each side and two off the top. I advised him he would be better off getting rid of the whole thing, and replanting, however priced him £400 calculating it as a long day for myself and a labourer, mate's rates as he is a friend. He told me this morning that he has got someone else who is going to do it and an adjacent Lime reduction for £460 inc vat. I don't regret this at all, it was one of those jobs I was dreading, however my point is, for the company to be VAT registered it must be reasonably professional (might even be you), how can they afford to pay staff a decent wage out of that?
  22. Bit south of you but I have a mate in Sussex who can build any arb body you like pm me if you want his number.
  23. Thanks Rob, got a new milling bar and chain breaker and riveter. Does the latter come with any spare rivets and links?
  24. Thats "habitat"?
  25. Agree with Stubby. However I think it helps the saw run a bit cooler, especially along with the muff mod. ( I have no scientific research to back this up!)
