  1. I'd echo the tdi Discovery. Tdi is a bombproof engine.
  2. Freelander 2?
  3. Didn't @LGP Eddie clear something like this with a long reach Komatsu on road tracks, with a selector grab?
  4. Basically put a small horizontal cut in on one side, the direction you want it to fall in, then put another horizontal cut in from the opposite site, slightly higher up (inch or so), that overlaps the other cut, then push the tree over, it will snap between cuts. Only use on saplings/trees under about 3 inches. You should be able to get a gob and back cut in anything 4"+. Also the lower the cut is to the ground, the more leverage you will have pushing it over, the less trip hazards, and you will make the forum's forestry experts happier.
  5. If its too small for a gob and back cut, do staggered step cuts.
  6. 576xp, 395xp and 3120xp here Stubby. Let me know if you change your mind about your saws ?
  7. There's apparently newer more emissions friendly versions of the big saws coming out. Most established companies already have a big saw or two. Plus there are still a few kicking around at the various dealers, 80+ cc saws don't sell that regularly.
  8. Have a mate who does a lot of road miles towing a trailer, he put 80,000 on a set of BF goodrich muds, they were nearly slick by the time he took them off.
  9. @Old Mill Tree Care is near Reigate and was looking for staff, not sure if thats still the case.
  10. Where are you? I finished clearing up that Oak in Croydon today, could have run you a load.
  11. Missus bought me the Husqvarna X com r's for Valentines, they connect to bluetooth and fit my Petzl, sound quality is pretty good and can hear the music over a standard saw, ported and M/M 576xp does seem to drown them out a bit. Oh they are a bit pricey as well, but I bought her some posh boots so all good there ?
  12. Ive had at least two go over the last 6 years, now keep a couple of spares in the tool box.
  13. If you are going to keep a set of wheels and tyres for road use and swap, Insa Turbo Special Tracks are absolute animals off road and not that expensive. You won't get stuck, but you will carve big ruts. Otherwise if for road and off road i use BF Goodrich mud terrains, they have good on road durability, and reasonable off road grip. More expensive than Insas as they are not remoulds.
  14. We've got a 3 month year old. Echo the above, and seriously unimpressed by these selfish morons.
  15. Truck them up to the Atlantic highway and float them across the muddy ditch known as the Bristol Channel ?
  16. Without being pedantic, think they drive on the right in Sweden, so it would be the chipper on the near side. I was taught that left to right wasn't that important, front to back is much more so. Obviously within the constraints of common sense.
  17. I bought my ifor from a dealer 2nd hand, was put off ebay by risk of hot/ringed/ragged kit, its a 12x6 dropside with steel ramps, it paid for itself in two months, was about £3800 inc vat, in two years it has been pretty bomb proof. Only issue was I dropped a log on the hydraulic oil tank and cracked the top slightly, the newer models have the tipper gear under the bed.
  18. I have a 12x6 tipper, only thing is with the extra chassis it is higher, had an Avant 750 with a grab on it a little while ago and it was about 4' higher than the Defender, and definitely felt a bit top heavy.
  19. I wish you wouldn't beat about the bush so much ?
  20. So you are offering £250 to whoever takes it away?
  21. Are those ground anchors on the back for a chassis mounted winch?
  22. Not wanting to join in with the piss taking on the other thread (yet) what is it you want? Someone to take it away and you will pay them £250? You want someone to pay £250 to take away a badly ringed up oak? or the wood is free to collect and the £250 is what was charged to fell a pretty big tree. I am hoping the arisings haven't left as a habitat pile in a layby near Caterham.
  23. Would that have been a dark green LR, with either Michelin XCL or Goodyear G90 tyres?
  24. A red Devon muddy shitpit on a loose shaley base is one of the slipperiest surfaces known to man kind. As someone who got a Land Rover so stuck in the bottom of a valley I seriously considered leaving it there for 6 months until it dried out I speak from experience.
  25. I miss TCD's input on here, he certainly didn't suffer fools gladly and had some strong views but offered a good insight into forestry, also greatly appreciate @Big J and the @the village idiot for their informed knowledge. And pictures, pictures are great on forums ?
