  5. Hi mate how are you doing your winch cables I can’t quite see it all I am just winching from the middle and getting some issues with it but from both ends would be better I just can’t think how I would set it up ,maybe it’s just late and I have drank too many beers but a photo from the other side would be good Thanks Mark
  6. Hi I am using the ramps and a hand winch it works ok ish , I could do with a 12v winch to be honest as if the log is nice and round no worries but otherwise it’s hard work, and I broke one of the feet off one of my ramps as my welding isn’t that good,to be honest I could do with making some better ones, that’s if we are going to be allowed to go to my workshop, I really don’t see what difference it would make being at our workshop with my girlfriend or being at home with her .
  7. Furniture restoration is tricky basic stuff is ok but when you start with older stuff colour matching is an art of its own ,french polishing is also an art it took yrs before my dad would let me do more then watch ,I haven’t seen anybody doing it properly on any of those resto programs ,that bloke on that Drew Pritchard program really annoys the fuck out of ,specialist more like a cowboy
  8. Hi everyone I have finally got my head round tracking the band on my hm130 , I think I got it sussed ,tracked in and milled some WRC cladding and it turned out ace ,so it’s totaly a new learning curve but I think I am getting there with the bandmill now I need a forklift. Cheers Mark
  9. Sorry guys I have been busy with other things I will get a vid up soon
  10. I tell you if I don’t get any government cash I don’t know how we will get by we relay on country fairs ,craft fairs for a big part of our income just invested all my small savings in a sawmill so yeah we need some help ,just spoke to our housing provider and guess what pay your rent as normal .
  11. Not talking to me any more then Jon do I smell
  12. Hi why not start by making stuff for your house ,shelf’s.bookcase ,a bed etc and see how you get on ,Hi Jon how’s you you could always bring me some nice yellow boards I am sure we could make something nice .
  13. So I ordered some ripper 37 bands from Stephen Cull and as I was just replacing a ripper 37 there should have been no issues with the band tracking but there is it’s coming off the rear of the band wheel ,any ideas what’s going on what am I missing. Thanks Mark
  14. Hi that log deck looks cool I think I might need to build myself one .
  15. Thanks guys , I always try and see if anybody on here has any bits and bobs I might need as I would rather give a few quid to a fellow arbtalker than a stranger on fleabay I am going to drill a tiny hole in the saw body then screw in a small hook and that should do the trick I will take some photos as I do it . Thanks Mark

    Old ms 180

Hi I have just inherited 2 ms180,s and both of them have the same problem and that is the clip that holds the trigger bar to the saw near where the off wire is has broken off and it’s part of the sawbody I think I have a way of mending it but need the on off leaver bar ,would any of you have a trashed one I could get the bit from, or the whole saw body if I can get both on the go then I will have a practice saw for my girlfriend and a backup carving saw , Thanks in advance. Mark
  17. Hi guys I just can’t understand why so many people don’t like monkey puzzle it’s very stable ,looks ace and quite rare for milling ,so what’s not to like
  18. Hi Muttley ,take some good gloves those spikey bits that stick out are way sharp we moved one last summer and got loads of tiny cuts from it the bark itself is quite sharp ,and it’s bloody heavy, but the boards I have milled are ace and it’s very stable ,the resin that pours out of it is sticky as fuck and the bees love it , I am defo glad I went through all the ball ache to get it don’t know if it’s worth much nobody wanted to buy any but hey I will just make stuff from it .Good luck with it and do post some pictures. Cheers Mark
  19. Hi I was kinda thinking that but I never see anybody use wedges with a bandmill ,so that was what got me thinking
  20. Some nice coffee table tops there ,hopefully it will be as big as said ,don’t forget the photos
  21. Hi I use an 880 with my Alaskan so any big saw a 660 no smaller or similar have a look at Chainsaw Bars web site and Rob D is a font of knowledge,if you want to come and have a go before buying any kit come down to Dorset one day no worries.
  22. Hi mate I totally agree I am already talking about some sort of loader ramps are ok but getting the big heavy log from where it got dumped in the yard last thing in the dark knackered covered in sawdust to the bloody ramps is turning into an issue but hey it’s all in a days work
  23. Hi guys ,so I have been thinking and I know it’s dangerous but when Chainsaw milling wedges are important so with a bandsaw mill why don’t we need them is it the narrow kerf would a wedge or two help in heavy timber
  24. Not bad is it your first one ,get some images to work from or models a grinder with a rough pad is a good investment,I use one on my owls I sand the head as I find most people like to run their hands over them as nice timber is so tactical and it helps with sales ,keep practicing there is always a new trick to learn Good luck and have fun with it don’t worry about making firewood I have made loads . Cheers Mark
