  5. So we have all seen the ‘very valuable black walnut tree ‘ cartoon so tomorrow I will be in that cartoon in real life , I met a retired woodworker the other day and after chatting I said I would drop some off cuts in for him to try and help him get back doing something as he isn’t well ,so he points me over the fence into a neighbors garden and there is an ok walnut butt so dropped my card in , so one of the first things the matey says to me is how much is it worth, I am going to have a good look in the morning I will take some photos but what to offer . Cheers Mark
  6. And as for a load of elm well defo not hear in Dorset you would be lucky to get one butt
  7. Hi Steve, the pedestals are the same so the table top can just drop in as it needs to be quite easy to dismantle and store ,as the client wishes I will take some photos of the pedestals tomorrow so you can see what I mean .
  8. Giant Redwood 4mtrs long and just over a mtr wide, routering in the cross bracing, its going to be amazing

  11. Hi guys I have just been let down on 2 jobs so if anybody out there wants any furniture making do give me a shout, doesn’t it just piss you off when you go and look at a job go home spend ages putting a plan and quote together to then have the customer spout some crap and say sorry but you won’t be getting the job .

  17. Hi I have one of those I think it’s called King Arthur’s Wheel ,and it’s bloody deadly there are loads of pictures of horrific accidents with them ,but to your question mine comes apart so if yours is the same you should be able to clamp it in a vice and sharpen like an ordinary chain ,if it does come apart make sure you remember what way round it all goes as it took me ages to put mine back together ! I have one that is a solid disk with chainsaw cutters shaped into it ,they are both sketchy and spend most of their time on the shelf I agree with Simon ,throw it on the shelf and buy a carving bar ,and keep your fingers Cheers Mark
  18. Hi thanks I am totaly enjoying myself it’s ace having a bandmill but I already want a bigger one and hydraulics so I have some nice 8 ft long monkey puzzle boards for sale and spalted beech.
  19. Hi guys , I have been around wood my whole life my dad was a master carpenter so I learnt a lot from him ,but bandsaw milling is like most things it’s own thing ,like how to place the log on the mill ,,I have been having trouble when I get like half or two thirds through the log and need to drop the supports down then the log gets thinner but if you slide it over then the mill head will not go past it ,I know I am missing something easy but as it’s all new and learning as I go it’s frustrating but ace fun I love milling got some holly lined up next .
  20. Hi thanks guys the wood is monkey puzzle and it is quite wet so maybe it’s that there’s a picture of some of the boards in Monkey puzzle vrs winch on a pole
  21. Ha just thought of another question my ramps slide into the bunks as I am winching how do you avoid this happening on yours.
  22. Hi Johnsond, I also have a 130 bought second hand last year ,did you make your ramps and winch set up if so what dimension is your winch pole ,as I bent mine I now need to make a new one so I thought I would pick your brains if you don’t mind . Thanks Mark
  23. Sorry for all the questions but as I have said its all a learning curve, so the finish of my cut is getting a bit wooly is this a sign I need to change the band
  24. I was chuffed as to get my winch all set up first few small ish logs no worries and yesterday a big bit of monkey puzzle and now I need a bigger winch 12v I think, but nice boards will have to do another with the winch photo it says the file is too big
