Ho yeah being off your feet is a nightmare when I broke and dislocated my ankle I was off my feet for 4 months off work for 6 , it will be 2 yrs ago on the 8th ,still gives me grief but hey at the time it was 50/50 if they were going to have to cut my foot off , good luck with your operation and do try and stick to what they say . Cheers Mark

  18. Hi I think we should concentrate on banning things like nuclear power ,depleted uranium shells ,fracking ,old rubber factories in the former USSR ,before bloody fireworks.Geo engineering poses a much bigger threat than fireworks, spraying heavy metals into our atmosphere creating man made clouds shutting all the greenhouse gases under a blanket of cloud causing temperatures to rise even more if we do not put a stop to geo engineering we could end up with a cascade event and then we are all Fu##ed
  19. Hi Mr Hooker ,same as the bigger the size the longer the leg I tried one pair on and the knee pads were around my ankle ,Hi Witt the trousers I have are Sthil Dynamic front protection and size 36 almost brand new in the box with the patch material Happy New Year. Mark
  20. So guys how long is too long to leave D Fir before it becomes hard to cut ,a matey of mine has left a pile of logs in the woods for about a year and now wants me to mill it for him ,is a year too long ? I think you are going to say yes it is but thought I would ask those with more experience than me Thanks Happy New Year. Mark
  21. Hi it sure does have many variables, but what I first asking was does anybody have a big and deep Alaskan or Panther Mill ,that is up for coming and helping me to quarter this trunk as I don’t want to free hand it . Happy New Year. Mark
  22. Sorry Andy as far as I understand quarter sawing you cut the butt into quarters then take cut from the flat bottom upwards then turn 90% cut upwards ,there is a diagram on hear somewhere,if I remember right you want to box out the very heart of the butt as that’s the most unstable bit . I think that’s right Happy New Year. Mark
  23. If I free hand it the first cuts through the middle will probably be shite and if done right 4 boards at least would be almost 2ft wide and true quarter sawn English Oak 2ft wide with quite a bit of brown in them should be worth quite a lot , and made into furniture would be stunning.
  24. Hi I really don’t want to free hand it ,Steve it’s 42 inch diameter
  25. Hi guys ,so I have an oversize Oak butt in my yard that I would love to quarter saw but my Alaskan is not big enough and I just can’t buy a bigger ,deeper set up for one butt so does anybody out there have an Alaskan big enough that’s up for coming and helping me Mill it . Thanks Mark
