  7. Hi I have one of those I think it’s called King Arthur’s Wheel ,and it’s bloody deadly there are loads of pictures of horrific accidents with them ,but to your question mine comes apart so if yours is the same you should be able to clamp it in a vice and sharpen like an ordinary chain ,if it does come apart make sure you remember what way round it all goes as it took me ages to put mine back together ! I have one that is a solid disk with chainsaw cutters shaped into it ,they are both sketchy and spend most of their time on the shelf I agree with Simon ,throw it on the shelf and buy a carving bar ,and keep your fingers Cheers Mark
  8. Hi thanks I am totaly enjoying myself it’s ace having a bandmill but I already want a bigger one and hydraulics so I have some nice 8 ft long monkey puzzle boards for sale and spalted beech.
  9. Hi guys , I have been around wood my whole life my dad was a master carpenter so I learnt a lot from him ,but bandsaw milling is like most things it’s own thing ,like how to place the log on the mill ,,I have been having trouble when I get like half or two thirds through the log and need to drop the supports down then the log gets thinner but if you slide it over then the mill head will not go past it ,I know I am missing something easy but as it’s all new and learning as I go it’s frustrating but ace fun I love milling got some holly lined up next .
  10. Hi thanks guys the wood is monkey puzzle and it is quite wet so maybe it’s that there’s a picture of some of the boards in Monkey puzzle vrs winch on a pole

  15. Hi yep defo lessons not tickets ,I still think it would be cool if one of us arbtalkers who has experience in bandmilling would be up for doing a short day of do and don’t do ,it would be worth while, I have been just getting on with it and it is a big learning curve, frustrating and fun ,my offer still stands if someone is willing to do a day my mill and yard could be used no worries. Cheers Mark
  16. Hi guys ,so I have been chainsaw milling for yrs and I have now got a woodland mill and it’s a whole new thing so if there was some training I would defo go for it , Steven Cull ,Blade Master will come and do a days training and service of your saw , it’s defo a good idea to spend a day with someone who has been running a bandmill for a while before settling out with one of your own ,I have made quite a few mistakes but hey I will get there !if anybody who has experience in band milling wants to come and do an experience day at my yard for a few of us then I would be totally up for it I will even get the coffee and cakes in Cheers Mark
