Hi yep get someone to mill it with an Alaskan especially if you have a mate with one ,bring it my yard and we can have a go no problem. Cheers Mark

Hi guys what have I done wrong this time, I was milling some WRC yesterday and the sound my mill makes changed slightly so I check everything I can think of and only having a few cuts left I cracked on then bang my band snapped,defo a learning curve as always looking forward to all your thoughts. Hi mate I have some cedar that is quite dry but very rain wet it’s an off cut that has been left in the rain ,Doug Fir I could cut green but I doubt that’s any good,and I have some western red but it’s not that good quality, I think you should still have my number give me a ring Cheers Mark -
Hi guys ,so today I was offered for free a big Scots pine ,but all I know about it is that it’s sappy and sticky ,but is it worth getting to mill as it’s free

Hi ,staining holly what a waste the colours in holly are ace ,it does have its issues when drying, but I have been quite lucky and have made some lovely furniture out of it ,it’s one of my favourite timbers it’s a creamy/grey colour and it just doesn’t come along in sawl log size very often. So we have all seen the ‘very valuable black walnut tree ‘ cartoon so tomorrow I will be in that cartoon in real life , I met a retired woodworker the other day and after chatting I said I would drop some off cuts in for him to try and help him get back doing something as he isn’t well ,so he points me over the fence into a neighbors garden and there is an ok walnut butt so dropped my card in , so one of the first things the matey says to me is how much is it worth, I am going to have a good look in the morning I will take some photos but what to offer . Hi Steve, the pedestals are the same so the table top can just drop in as it needs to be quite easy to dismantle and store ,as the client wishes I will take some photos of the pedestals tomorrow so you can see what I mean .

Giant Redwood 4mtrs long and just over a mtr wide, routering in the cross bracing, its going to be amazing

Looks quite similar to my woodland mill , and is there a dealer in the UK and what kind of after sales care would you get Chris at woodland mills is a nice guy and very helpful,just something to think about.but I would also be interested in what they are like Cheers Mark

Hi thanks for Hi mate thanks for the pictures,my ramp set up was based on the woodland mills set up but I quickly realised that it is crap and after looking at your pics I might have to re work my set up ,but I may have a deal on a forklift if it works out fingers crossed and thanks for the last 2 photos showing the bridles Cheers Mark

Hi guys I have just been let down on 2 jobs so if anybody out there wants any furniture making do give me a shout, doesn’t it just piss you off when you go and look at a job go home spend ages putting a plan and quote together to then have the customer spout some crap and say sorry but you won’t be getting the job .

Hi finished it with water based laqure and then 4/5 coats of wax polish and plenty of elbo grease

Hi guys thanks for your comments it means a lot ,Brown Oak is stunning but bloody expensive , I have a butt in the yard to mill and hopefully that will be nice and brown it looks it on the ends . I finished the table before crimbo but I wanted it to be a surprise for Simon so had to wait until he collected it to post some pics . Thanks Mark

Hi I have one of those I think it’s called King Arthur’s Wheel ,and it’s bloody deadly there are loads of pictures of horrific accidents with them ,but to your question mine comes apart so if yours is the same you should be able to clamp it in a vice and sharpen like an ordinary chain ,if it does come apart make sure you remember what way round it all goes as it took me ages to put mine back together ! I have one that is a solid disk with chainsaw cutters shaped into it ,they are both sketchy and spend most of their time on the shelf I agree with Simon ,throw it on the shelf and buy a carving bar ,and keep your fingers Cheers Mark

Hi thanks I am totaly enjoying myself it’s ace having a bandmill but I already want a bigger one and hydraulics so I have some nice 8 ft long monkey puzzle boards for sale and spalted beech.
