So I just received a hyper skip chain by mistake but before I send it back I want to find out a bit more about them and why people would use them as I would have thought they would not do a very good job but never having used one then I thought I would ask does anybody know how they came to be who thought I know let’s cut most of the cutters off my chain. As usual looking forward to what you all got to say about it ,Wrighting this while on the bloody phone to hmrc chasing my £660 self employed grant, I know bloody pisstake Th
  14. Hi yepfor milling it’s got to be the biggest saw possible I have an 880 ,and it’s got to be a Sugi bar and I just use a 404 milling chain and it’s always been a good set up ! I don’t do that much chainsaw milling since I broke my ankle and managed to get a bandmill ,but I guess I will always keep it as they are a bloody good bit of kit
  15. Hi mate were you on telly then !but yacht varnish ! I hate varnish,I think a good quality oil is much better ,you will defo have some nice big boards when you Mill that oak,yep biggest table we have made so far and it’s in the barn I have been restoring on the small Est I look after glad you liked it . Thanks mate take care stay safe
  16. Hi Timon ,hows things ,nice bench is it all your work did you Mill the boards and what does the brass plaque say
  17. When I first started with my Alaskan I had a load of trouble with chain tension so much so I almost cut through one of the bolts so Rob D suggested I change my hard nosed bar for a sprocket nosed bar and as soon as I did the issues went away and I just had to use the old hard nosed bar and straight away tension issues but only when milling if I am cross cutting with the 4ft hard nosed bar no issues.Hi Josh do you fix that frame to the log every cut ?
  18. Hi thanks guys and as for the wobble a couple of wedges and job done ,we are well chuffed, biggest table we have made looking forward to making a bigger one Cheers Mark
  19. Funny thing well not that bloody funny ,it was spot on in my workshop no wobble ,sturdy and all we did was dismantle it take it to its location and when we rebuilt it there is a wobble ,going there today to sort it out did my head right in why would it move on a short van journey
  20. Hi the top is about 3 inch thick
  21. Hi mate yep well chuffed with it it only takes two to lift it but I have a table on wheels that’s just right for moving big slabs like that ,a bit surprised that only you have commented on it though .glad you like it Thanks Mark
  22. Sequoia table top with Western red pedestals 3-8mtrs llong and 1-3 wide hope you all like it
  23. I will have another go with the winch soon ! I have some monkey puzzle that’s too big for the woodlands ,one pain though is when my workshop got burgled they took my 880with a nice Sugi 4 ft milling bar and now the only 4ft bar I have is the hard nosed bar that came with my first 880 and for some reason solid nosed bars are crap for milling the chain tension is all over the place you can almost watch the chain getting slacker as you go through the cut ,and as I don’t do that much Alaskan milling do I get a better one ,no shows ,or demos this year at all by the looks of it so struggling a bit .
  24. Sorry for the photos being upside down don’t know how that happened, I took the winch off as I felt that I wasn’t getting the right feel for how the saw was cutting if you know what I mean, with a winch it’s just full throttle all the way ! I don’t know that’s just what I think others may differ
  25. Hi all hopefully here are some photos of the Oak that I have just miilled
