  4. So I haven't done butterflies before and now I have to do one in a table top, my question is should I do it the same thickness as the table top or not
  5. Hi Saul ,a bandsaw totaly changes milling,dont get me wrong I do love my 880 and alaskan but bandsaw mill is totaly in another league

  7. Thanks guys I dont know what a gibs strip is never heard of them before ,my thicknesser has square slides either side and 2 square cut worm drives under the bed I will take some photos ,I need to do photos if I am going to dismantle it ,could really do without it though.

Hi ,so at last the sparky came and wired in my 3 phase converter and thicknesser but sadly the power rise and fall didnt click in it tried to but just wouldnt the table is stuck and I cant find a workshop manual for it Wadkin Uk were bloody useless offered to send an engineer at £80 an hour ,so any ideas of what to try I have used loads of wd40 had a big bar in the winder wheel I am reluctant to try and dismantle it , open to ideas Thanks Mark

Hi what type of mill do you have ,there is a good book by Will Mallof I think and its called chainsaw lumber making ,but thats about it there are books on what timber is good for what but honestly just doing it is the best way to learn I dont think there is a definitive guide book and if you are near Dorset I could do a day or 2 with you

F##K reading all this I just ordered a new HM130 max I dont have a forklift though I wish I did ,my pallet truck will lift 2 tonne though and we do have a friendly farmer 5 min up the road but hey if you pay for delivery thats what you expect I dont have a delivery date yet and the old one leaves tomorrow ,cant wait for the new one to arrive .

  18. Hi I have an old therepy bed thats got a hydrolic jack to raise it up and down for milling on the only snag is getting the log onto it a set of a car ramps works ok ,I dont use it any more so if anyone wants it come and get it
  19. Hi yeah the bullet connector on my 170 falls out every so often I keep meaning to put a cable tie on it and a fix for the broken plastic drill a tiny hole and threadlock a small hook into the hole insert the black bar and close up the hook with pliers . Cheers Mark

  23. Yeah if you send photos to Sthil they are very helpfull I have a big old saw that my mate gave me and it needed a fuel pipe no numbers on the saw all faded yrs ago so I sends Sthil somd photos and the old boy in the parts depo not only tells me what saw but sends me the fuel pipe
  24. Hi yeah its nice timber ,like Steve says ideal for outdoor furniture it has a nice warm look to it ,what type of mill is that I dont recognise it.
