Hi yeah same as not sure what band was on my old mill when I bought it but I threw 2/3 bands when I changed over to ripper 37, the tracking defo did my head in at first and then I just sort of got it after a few times adjusting spining the wheels by hand and in the end I just got it and then no problems changing bands but at first there was a F##K lot of swearing ,still no delivery date on my new one even though they arrived on wednesday
  3. We have a massive old makita circular saw it cuts 5inch deep and they used to make a plate that would let it run on the track but at the time I found it I didnt buy it now it aint available so I just run it along an 8 ft level

  6. F##c sounds like a nightmare,when I first had my hm130 it took me ages to get the tracking right now I am waiting for my hm130 max I hope I dont have any issues,Chris at woodland mills was telling me that the hm130 max comes all tracked in from the factory .

  8. Hi we have the Makita track saw and its ace ,and I also rate freud blades and a tip I seen somewhere is to use oven cleaner to clean the sticky sap or crud that builds up on a blade,it works fine wire wool and oven cleaner .

  12. So I haven't done butterflies before and now I have to do one in a table top, my question is should I do it the same thickness as the table top or not
  13. Hi Saul ,a bandsaw totaly changes milling,dont get me wrong I do love my 880 and alaskan but bandsaw mill is totaly in another league

  15. Thanks guys I dont know what a gibs strip is never heard of them before ,my thicknesser has square slides either side and 2 square cut worm drives under the bed I will take some photos ,I need to do photos if I am going to dismantle it ,could really do without it though.

Hi ,so at last the sparky came and wired in my 3 phase converter and thicknesser but sadly the power rise and fall didnt click in it tried to but just wouldnt the table is stuck and I cant find a workshop manual for it Wadkin Uk were bloody useless offered to send an engineer at £80 an hour ,so any ideas of what to try I have used loads of wd40 had a big bar in the winder wheel I am reluctant to try and dismantle it , open to ideas Thanks Mark

Hi what type of mill do you have ,there is a good book by Will Mallof I think and its called chainsaw lumber making ,but thats about it there are books on what timber is good for what but honestly just doing it is the best way to learn I dont think there is a definitive guide book and if you are near Dorset I could do a day or 2 with you

F##K reading all this I just ordered a new HM130 max I dont have a forklift though I wish I did ,my pallet truck will lift 2 tonne though and we do have a friendly farmer 5 min up the road but hey if you pay for delivery thats what you expect I dont have a delivery date yet and the old one leaves tomorrow ,cant wait for the new one to arrive .
