So at the risk of sounding stupid what the f##k are those drill bits called that put a big dowel on the end of a stick you see them in like rustic stools etc

Hi yeah cool no worries with the pics when its milled had a good after noon building the new mill but the instructions were printed by the ikea people I think

Ha since we got burgled and lost my 880 and a few other things we got some of those anti poacher things that fire shotgun cartridges with a trip wire into a big steel pipe dont half go off with a bang I just got to remember to disarm it before opening the door fully and theres more than one

Hi its not the biggest about 12/14 ft long and 2ft diameter I think 2 and a quarter inch slabs to finish at 2 inch but may do a 3 inch for table legs I will take some pics tomorrow ,so yeah sounds like I had a good deal ,and as for the matey in Scotland £1700 it would have to be gun stock quality unless its Very valuable american black walunt ha ha

Picked up a nice big butt of Walnut yesterday cost me £50 and £100 for the hi ab to come and move it ,now have a few nice lumps waiting for my new mill decided to install a curtain from an old curtian sider lorry on the front of my lean-to in order to keep the rain off my mill all these things delaying the build up of it though doing my head in but I will get there

Yeah I sold my hm130 on a trailer as my broken ankle is not up for tromping round woodland and cow fields doing mobile milling and that paid for a brand new hm130 max static I just cant wait to build it up .

Hi gdh nice big shed you have your mill in did you fix the metal frame to the floor ,where to in Wales are you I am from Barry originally if I could find a workshop/ yard where we could also live somewhere out of the way back in Wales I would move back I havent had a pint of Brains SA in yrs and yrs

Hi Andy thanks I was kinda thinking that myself but its always good to have another opinion I have some anchor resin and some 6inch brackets jobs a good un ,so looking forward to finally getting my mill up and running ,but loads of things keep delaying me off to collect a big Walnut butt this morning. Happy Days

So started to assemble my mill today and I have treated 8x2 bearers for the feet and these bearers will sit on my concreate yard ,do you guys think I should put a bracket or screw them down to stop them sliding as I roll a log up onto the mill or do you think the weight will keep it in place Cheers Mark

Dont you clean your saw after using it even if its just a quick wipe over or blow off with the air line

Hi the matey that I take my saws to suggested that I buy a small scrubbing brush and keep it with my combi can as I was always getting my carb rebuilt espically on my carving saw so I did and havent had any probs since just a quick brush before re filling it was the best 2 quid spent in a while

Sadly covid is killing my buisness as most of our sales,commissions came from country fairs ,shows etc doing chainsaw carving demos so no events no sales we have been lucky and had those 2 big tables we posted pics of but now thats it order book is empty ,hopefully we will do some timber sales when my new mill is built up ,but need some work coming in to pay rent on the yard ,advertising timber sales etc etc

Um I do need to order some rippers but I think that the tension is made easier on the new models like you said it did my head in on my old hm130 so hopefully I will be ok

Hi mate yep good plan I have half a butt of monkey puzzle ,but according to Chris at woodland mills when I was bitching about not getting any free bands to dial the mill in with its all set up in the factory and it has come with a band fitted so we will soon see

Hurray having given our mate a good send off yesterday I now have a free few days to build up my new mill it seems like am age since it arrived not sure how I am going to manage as the saw head is sooo heavy but I am sure I will really quite excited and I have a butt of brown oak to go first I think ,I am thinking about going for a bounce back loan to get a forklift and a truck/lorry if I can ,I will keep you all posted Cheers Mark

So I want to get a fairly good camera so I can film the build up of my new sawmill hm130 max and maybe go on to have a youtube channel but I havent got a clue about them so looking for some tips on what to get I dont want to spend loads so open to suggestions Thanks Mark

Hi Rob you used to do a chainsaw milling day as I did one with you not long after I bought my alaskan if I remember right it bloody snowed and you did cover all the basics even using the 12v sharpner but hey that was like yrs ago -
The first thing wrong in my eyes is why cut 4ft up and a 30ft tall tree could be a massive fail for a novice I had a standing dead field maple about that big on thursday all the top branches were the wrong side didnt have a felling bar got my gob cut slightly wrong as I am out of practice and it almost sat back on me and I have been felling trees for yrs just goes to show I was in woodland and had my excape routes sused so no probs it went over in the end with a big shove but it could have come back and chased me so thats all it can go so wrong so quick there are photos all over the net of horrific arb fails it just aint worth it get somebody in to at least help

GET somebody who knows what they are doing things can go so wrong so quickly its mad ,watching vids is no training what part of the country are you in I am sure one of the guys on hear would pop round and help for some beer tokens
