  1. if it was the beast i saw at forest and arbs open day it would take most things salesmen was chucking house bricks through it had large lumps of steel like a side arm flail but bigger was making a good job of what got thrown through it
  2. if it was me save your pennies drain the hydraulic oil out replace the filter. and then put your splitter on it when under load bet there will be near 2000psi running as its under load and bet splitter works fine if not then new pump or have yours serviced maybe a cheaper option. and if there good at there job be like new
  3. i did mine with county council and did not need chapter 8 as not working on A roads i had two men at work signs 30mtrs from work area each side of road and cones around work area to keep people safe. ask your insurance company what they want to cover you. and get it in writing. ask your local county highways if they would be willing to do a course with you allways doing it for theres and sub contrators who work for them. you pay your council tax
  4. its the non genuine cartridges that are the problem there not worth getting. more than likly the non ink has mixed with what was left of the original and gummed the print station up so you either get streaks hardly any print. best bet get originals put in run it through cleaning cycle and then do a test print bet it comes back like new HP and lexmark use the print head on the cartridge hence the cost unlike the others who use a separate print head. also you can get non compatible messages coming up as the chip is marked were they get refilled. thats there problem refilled with what was left and it conjels inside cartridge. had many a rainbow fingers in the old days when they were not throw away replacing maintenance station as all gummed up with ink. and all down to non genuine cartridges. hence why i hate them and will never use them false economy. also clean the maint station were the cartridge housing sits in ideal use iso propelene and cotton wool buds to clean it but its a messy job. as for lazer depends how many prints you do a month and is it all colour if majority of your work is black and white get a mono lazer. cheap to run 2p a copy. colour lazers can be dear. £70 per cartridge 10k per fill then the OPC £200 fuser £350 but these last for 50k run. depends how much you printing lexmark do good colour and mono printers and reliable not the cheapest but are good
  5. thanks predator lets hope they do not reach these shores. wasps give me the ejees hornets stay away these jokers im getting a protective suit:biggrin:
  6. tip i was given to get posts in was to use a bar to make hole use a baler spike brill tool. give it a wiggle fillhole with water soak post and knock them in/ they just slip in have to watch a bit in case it splashes back. but for 3inch post quicker to do by hand unless as other posts you can lay your hand on a post bonker on a tractor. or as i have done many a time back of digger bucket. best was a jcb pushed them in so hard had a job to get them out.
  7. why did i read this thread beads of sweat are running down my face. had loads indoors last year fantastic creatures but not indoors tried getting them out of windows some went others i did have to zap as freaking everyone out. do not see many thank goodness. but look very scary if not a fan of wasps make a wasp look like a ant in size. i need a stiff drink now to calm my nerves:biggrin:
  8. exactly even with a clutch can catch you out. sorry some say there ok but petrol hand augers are a nasty bit of kit. used once never again. they say chainsaws are dangerous. wonder how many people have ended up in Aand E due to a hand auger having them.
  9. no excuses coming up the m3 the other week getting late so getting tired just wanted to get home. was going to come off at normal junction then realised i needed fuel as getting low went to j9 to get fuel pulled in garage police car came behind evening noticed you went on rumble strip back down road breathalysed me not had a drop as at A meeting. and there meter was not working. i know you not had a drink on your way and get home
  10. steer well clear use some of the cash to hire a hydraulic auger. those ones if it bites into anything hard you will be in A and E having a plaster cast on arm at least. there a menace. all there god for is loose earth sniff of a stone or root and you will be flying into outer space bet its not got a clutch to stop auger when it bites. making me cringe even thinking using one. if your going to do a lot invest in a hydraulic auger to go on a digger and hire in a digger to do job. or a skid steer friend has one and that is a cracking bit of kit. drilled over 400 holes 9inches in chalk and did not miss beat did same last year. if i now need a auger i hire off him
  11. i keep getting you can write off 70% of any debts you have please press one i hang up. tv programme on last night channel 4 re these call centres ringing asking for donations for charitys. and the tactics they use to get you to give over your money by a d/d and there making on it big time. have never rang one of the numbers. i have my charitys and if i want to give i give direct not using one of these phone numbers on the adverts. all that does is put you on there phone list to hassel you for more of your cash for different charitys. and its a legal scam.
  12. have been offered some chainsaws huskys and sthil,s do not know much about the above if that is the correct model number. if so second hand working what should i be paying for it. said its in good order.
  13. well when my pension could be taken it had lost nearly 2k due to the crash. maybe in hindsight should of transfered it to a new provider and carried on but did not took a lump sum as redundent and need to live. these thing never happen at the right time.
  14. how long do they last before they need doing again. with hollow grinding as i used to do it is it has to be flooded with water to keep blade cool. plus its a stone that grinds but polishes at same time. angle grinder you can not get the hollow action needed for it to cut you can do it but will not cut the same and when they do need doing will take a lot of metal off to get them hollow again. for £58 work out how much a day thats costing you to have them done bet its pence.
  15. chipper blades need to be hollow ground so they cut normal grinder will flatten them so they do not cut send them or take to a proper grinding service firm who have a hollow grinder as for doing guillotine blades
  16. i was in a couple and the boss matches your input but they can claim this back on there expences. but thats for acountants. i had a 50% tracker and 50% normal pension which had interest but not much hence the tracker bit. the tracker is invested on the stock market. thats the big IF if doing ok then pots grows if it does not you can loose some of the investment. i am no expert. speak with a qualified financial adviser not one in bank. get there advice. there know who is a good company and what is best. but get a pension the state one will be wortless by the time you retire. i look back when i was young and wished i had put more in. now 60 and one of mine gives me £90 a month what can you live on with that.
  17. no names but i have heard a college who do arb training. from those in the trade that those coming out are not that good. most of what they have done is been based around the utility game eg power lines. but as i say its is third hand. i though they did some good training. but maybe its the times try and cram to much in in to short a time so learn nothing of use.
  18. they if they can will avoid humans very shy animals and only seen two and that was down in the new forest. one sat by me when i was fishing i left him alone and he did not bother me. in the end he slipped into lake and swam off as for dogs a st bernard was bitten in forest and it floored took six people to carry it to car and down to vets vets got anti venom from southampton general. it did recover from its ordeal. so how a smaller dog would react do not know. but picking one up well once bitten twice shy yet he let him bite him three times teach him to pick snakes up. leave:001_rolleyes: them alone wild animal
  19. there was a tree local have to look it out chap was killed when it just fell down without warning. very sad on council land. the musician was risking it a bit recovering his instruments from under the tree. i would have stayed back can replace them but not your life.
  20. get a proper hydraulic hose firm in i use Hydroscand excellent firm highly recommend them we had a hose on digger go and it goes under body of digger put a new hose in but were it comes out he fitted a joiner so if it went again just have to have a short section replaced. he also fitted spiral-guards over hoses to protect them. since he has done it nearly a year still as good as new and has not rubbed. have used other firms and not a patch on this company very professional and good prices. HYDROSCAND Ltd Unit 10 Druids Way Pool Industrial Estate Redruth TR15 3RH telefon.png 01209 212966 our depot covers a large area. so should think these do as well bound to have a engineer near to you
  21. i read aout the adam retort and looked a pain to use having to get in to dig the charcoal out its a dirty game without getting covered. looked at a double retort esele or like that then saw price £21k need to be making a lot to get any payback. yes 300kg per burn but a big investment. not aimed at the coppicer who wants to make some charcoal from the waste product
  22. chap i knew used old engine oil in his saw totaly screwed it up. i use proper chain oil works well no dearer than engine oil. was doing a job advised use veg oil in saw. just spun off chain had to resharpen it checked on the chain oil and it is fine working in rivers. so using proper chain oil.
  23. sellway packaging aldershot 18p each i think min order is 200
  24. what a read very interesting and informative. good to see that Amy is getting british charcoal in to the supermarkets. there is a lot of people who are looking to buy charcoal each week i get a mail saying that someone is looking to buy charcoal. i would love to be able to justifies getting a retort. i have a very overstood hazel copse and it would be ideal. i have heard that 180kg per burn is possible. when i did have some charcoal i was selling to the trade approx 6kg sacks for £4 per pot and could not keep up with demand. but did not have the ready s to buy a kiln or a retort so ran out of a stockpile i had. as for grants HCC are doing a grant. and i think i will look into this side to see what funding i can get to see if i can afford to buy a retort. as part of the Hampshire coppice group we get bags at discount as buy in bulk with Hampshire charcoal on. those who do it seem to make a living from it
