  3. given up selling logs pain in backside. but know a chap who sells 2 cube of logs for £180. that was last year prices. but with cost of cord now in the region of £1500 for a artic load. then cutting spliting or hire a processor for the day its to much hassel for little return. if i had wood which was free from jobs then maybe, but do not get any. wood from hedges a bit small. was selling last year £55 for a pick up load level all dry seasoned timber. look for a local tree surgeon see what he will sell some for should be ok.

  12. +1 got OCS as well going for them. its a cut throat market big boys big toys who can do it in 10will undercut the small boy with a smaller mower due to costs. still got 3 nice parish contracts s fed up with the big boys. its hard to say how much look at it work out how many runs it will take and say its going to cost x. i do playing fields every two weeks untill cricket starts then every week they like it short outfields 20mm or under as per ECB guidlines. i do mine20mm. seem happy with it. but i think what i charge is cheap for job but any dearer and would not get contract parish councils have very few friends. no matter how good you are if x puts in a price cheaper will go for cheaper price. untill they make a crap job. like two of mine then got me to get it back to standard. that was a very big contractor doing there work who got the boot,
  13. if you want a good back pack then 60cc plus anything under may as well use a hand held. husky.echo two good makes. if its only for a couple of jobs hire one be cheaper. looking £400 plus for a good knapsack blower.

  16. are you then just looking for the willow rods. or do you want willow panels. i do know somone who can supply both. if interested pm and will give you his contact details. to weave you need dry willow then you soak it before weaving it so its suple. if you use green willow it will grow do not want a growing roof.
  17. would these stop thorn going in if knelt down. just thinking if they be better than chainsaw trousers. as you get hot in chainsaw trousers. and are they waterproof. could use them for strimming as well
  18. for good plants two suppliers top notch mill farm trees winchester, or murry mc clean oxford both do top notch plants. not had any die that was planted and what i asked for is what i get. i normally plant january early feb as best time to plant. they then wake up and start to grow
  19. you can get brushcutter trousers with the protection in but not as heavy as chain saw trousers. i just use heavy duty trousers with boots never had problems with my legs. its my face that sometimes get a hit. but use helmet with fly eye glasses. works well. stops anything going in eyes.
  20. if its a home phone but you use it for business will not pay out. as Genset steve said about BT. got so fed up with them changed to sky if i have a problem normaly 3 working days its fixed. but bt like the others have to use openreach and sit on your order for days if not weeks before sending a order to bt.
  21. well i got a concessions into newbury show yesterday as i am touching 60. so saved £4 paid for a beer.
  22. what chain do they use is it normal chain or the pico chain like my 170 as the smaller chain is ideal for hedgelaying as get a thin cut. but have to agree my 170 does grunt on some of the stuff. a bigger saw would be good with a small chain. will check out the echo 500 see what its like
  23. well family shop at tescos as nearest to us and in the last week i saved 20p on 25ltrs of petrol then 12p then today 10p a ltr. it all helps sorry for pun. but thats a saving when fuel is not cheap. gives a better margin on jobs knowing fuel was under a pound a ltr long time since i have had fuel under a pound. even derv got it for £1.12 a ltr saved £8 on a fill up.
  24. i trust he did not hurt himself falling 8ft be a shame to see him scuff his designer trackie bottoms and trainers. good job lets hope the magistrate gives them porridge. take them off the streets
  25. if its a blank .22 cartridge then is it not covered under FAC laws. may be wrong is not worth asking local firearms officer. to see what they say. hate to see someone using one and a copper with a armalite sticks it up his nose.
