  1. +1 i split all mine chuck in wood shed and let the wind and sun do the rest. bone dry by end of summer but beech burns nice, but as other posts mix with other woods. not keen on oak but it does burn nice and slow
  2. no matter how much you check to see there are no objects in the grass the strimmer will find them and if it breaks a window then you have to pay for damage same if it injures a third person hence PL insurance.
  3. have to say never found echo parts hard to get hold of but them my echo saw has never needed parts apart from a bar and chain. and have forest and arb good for parts for echo products as main stockist. makita will not comment as do not have one but for there industrial stuff easy to get.
  4. hi no its not for HCC but is going to be run by the Hampshire coppicing craftsman group. to promote coppicing products and related things to do with the woods. it may run along side the hedgelaying comp i am running this year nr alton. like for it to run this year but may be next year. was just seeing how many would do this show. what cost are involed. if any apart from supply of wood. then have a idear when we have a meeting to discuss the way forward. and be interested in sponsership for the hedgelaying and the woodfest.
  5. for the amount of use you are going to use it look at mitox. lot less money 2 year warrenty as a home user. get two for the price of a husky or sthil. not on comision everyone :biggrin:just hear good reports about them from users who use them a lot
  6. hi may be organising a woodfest in hampshire. when is the best time to run it and when to avoid. and do you chainsaw carvers use these events. like to put on a good show of carving. and what will get you guys and gals attend.
  7. +1 for EE i had problems with my phone orange did not want to know yes same company got hold of the boss he got his office to sort it had a new contract new phone only a fiver extra a month and i can get a signal 99% of time unlike O2 and vodaphone if you want rubbish service then those two take top spot.Forest and arb very good only down road so know them well but have a exelent parts dept good arb section
  8. +1 was told it as good for combating hay fever. will ask hime for propolis sounds good keep me healthy. i like comb honey as it has more in it and is tasty.
  9. thanks for info there ezemow looks good on the vids, be interested in trying one, have sent them a email see if i can have a demo. concerned with flails it will leave tram lines if a bit long. looking at a fleming as well they do them with mulching blades. will let you know how it goes.
  10. try Digga he does chestnut stuff he is in east sussex
  11. there has been a shortage of materials as i have waited 5 weeks for materials. i get my from a proper fencing supplier who does erecting as well. i know the material i am getting is good. i am afraid that some of the bigger builders merchants the timber is not of high quality, and it looksas if this is the case with yours. sale of goods act ask for replacments for the dodgy ones plus the cost of doing it, and if you can get your money back go to a timber yard or fencing supplier.
  12. make me think shall i buy it if it was offered to me, but then i do have work i could use it on. hard one as other posts could sit waiting for work. or you could hire it out making your money back. not to joe public but other people you know in the same line of work. IT may get looked after. other thing is are parts for it easy to get. that is the main thing if you can get them next day for it fine if its some out of date thing that is a job to find the parts then walk away. as it will break down and then you will be stuck with a machine that you can not get parts for. only then worth scrap.
  13. looking at geting a 5ft finishing mower for cutting larger areas have a 20hp tractor to put it on. ideal looking for one with rollers on front and back. or are the 4 wheel ones as good. what makes can any one recomend. looked at wessex mixed thoughts on there stuff any help or veiws aprciated can not afford a larger ride on have looked but can not warrent the outlay even for a second hand unit. PS the finish has to be good with no rows left behind.
  14. chap over road cutting with a 550 and he has got two both been back into workshop as failed only reason he has two was needed a saw to work. and the way he was talking they take there turn being fixed. put me off a bit getting one now. but aspen sounds interesting. that they work better. he is looking at a different make saw due to there unreliability.
  15. for that money get the Honda 435 will do everthing you want it to do aand more. i use mine every day in summer does not miss a beat. 2 year warrenty. the bump and go on them are a dodle to feed the blade works well on big brambles. smaller ones i just use the line. recomended line is 2.4mm i use oregen starline 3mm and works fine. 4 stroke so no mixing. the harness is good but i bought a husky pro harness as more comfy. and just within your budget. i have the 425 as well but a bit small for what you want to do. out of your budget but walk behind strimmers do a very good job for doing large areas. have bigger line and munch trough most things. DR is the best one
  16. chucking my hat into ring. to plant the best time is january/early feb when plants are dorment. now sap is rising and may have a few fail due to being transplanted. i would wait untill next year. as for species. hazel/ willow was two if wanting to coppice i would plant the willow on bogy ground and hazel in a clump next door you can then coppice rotate without the other trees in way. as hazel and willow you copice every 7 years for best material. the rest i would mix plant as other posts with tracks going in for extraction when ready to fell. as for blacthorn it wants planting as a hedge not a woodland tree as for hawthorn, buckthorn, spindleberry waythering. you say hedge is thick. ask Digga to have a look near you and a good hedgelayer. he will bring hedge back to life. he also coppices chestnut so a good point of referance for planting chestnut. hope this is of some help. but i know you want to crack on but i would wait. get all the groundwork done then ready to then plant next year.
  17. you say you belong to the union. when they suspended you from your job why did the union not step in then to ask why you had been suspended. and there should of been a meeting with you the HR department and your union rep. And they should of put there case forward for the suspension and reasons and when they intended reinstaing you if no charges were proved. its now got to that you have been sacked the union need to get there act togetherand sort this out. you need to ask for a meeting with the director of the company the HR department and your union rep. you need to say you do not acept the dismisal and if they refuse to have a meeting to discuss this matter. then get the union to start legal procedings for unfair dismisal. if what you say in your post. what grounds do they have for suspension and then to sack you. but i am more anoyed with your union. they should have been in on this case ages ago and sorted it not now they are sacking you. i think the HR department do not have clue what theyare up to and if the union got hold of the director and spoke to him or her bet they do not have a clue what is going on. but do you want to work for this company let us know how you get on. PS if local rep is not that good get hold of the main union office and ask them to sort it for you
  18. i paid £35 for 5lts but had to buy two thats the drawback the normal chemical boys do not stock it so its either barrier h or fllebay to buy it. but its good stuff. you say it made yo bad. have to say after i sprayed it i had a sore throat. makes me think its a mask job. so not as nice as they make it out to be. but kills rag. saves pulling the stuff.
  19. oficial is it should be 18inches down in ducting laid on sand and covered in sand so if digging you see the sand and investigate. do they do this unless made to just dig a shallow trench if that and chuck it in. the telecoms are the worse of all of them.
  20. +1 very good do stock echo speak to richard or jason be able to help
  21. +1 have to agree i use 3mm in my honda and i go againts frnce panels headstones and etc its the throttle jocky i can strim againts headstones and can cut grass down short not leaving a mark on the stones or panels. just do not use full power. so using thinner stuff go with thicker line and ease up on the throttle. find you will use less line and still do a good job as quick.
  22. +1 i once slipped with a angle grinder grinding some metal went into wrist it cauterised the wound whilst cutting it 10 steri strips later after a trip to a and e and was it sore. learnt my lesson from that. now when using machines i hate anyone near me who may distract they are asked politly to go forth.
  23. see if you can find a local hedgelayer to demostrate how a hedge is laid do it a lot in summer and goes down well i use silver birch for hedge as it shines. as fo your self if you can manage it get a long large pole get it harnesed and climb it in the fastest time
  24. well was asked to spot treat a field with this product was sceptible as was only able to by from the company and its a bit for joe public. well i spot treated the field very little in it but then tried in my paddock on a dozen plants to see if it was as good as they claim. well treated at 11am checked at 4pm ragwort was brown and shriveled up. tried it on some docs. its made them look a bit icky dick. as yet waiting to see if they die off be good if it does. as for rag well i have never seen a product kill this quick. its safe to use only need gloves and boots no suit. only drawback the gun they supply is next to usless so will put in a handheld sprayer. only thing it does say is keep livestock out for 14 days not because of chemical but because of the ragwort being dead and needing to disapear.
  25. i think you will find that a lot of users being paid to do a job do not have papers. and if asked to spray roundup out of van comes knapsack with it in and is sprayed. no checking its still ok is it a still day is the nozzel correct. maybe after 2015 this will cease and those who got there tickes and work to the rules may get more work. i doubt it as who will police who has or not a ticket. only way to stop it is to have to produce your card in a shop to buy it. will the likes of scats want to do this. but then they may be stopped stocking it if they do not have a basics trained person. maybe the tide is turning. and will only get it from a prper chemical company.
