  1. just done a bigger pond in garden. i would like to landscape it properly have marginals plants iris etc and some plants in pond. big trouble is. stella and carlsberg,6x and speckled hen the geese. are a nightmare. i know if i try and plant anything will destroy it. can not fence it as they use it. but do not want as last one just a hole with dirty water in and nothing else. i know proper ponds and lakes have geese and things grow ok. so what do i do. only thing i may have to do is do a section at a time around edge fence it let it get established then open it up and fence a different section. only dug it last night and filled it and there in there having fun.
  2. you could ask jim e who posts on hear local to you do not know if he has anything like this. you say its ivy and you want to mulch it into ground. are you not going to make it just grow more than it already is. would it not be better to spray with glyphoshate and adjtent that sticks to the leaves let it kill it and then mulch it up. if you do spray needs doing when plant is dorment eg october march.

  4. im the guy on the advert for samsung experia z1:biggrin: i wish. but i am with EE 4g and as yet not found i can not get a signal. and work in some out of the way places, i got 3 phones when deciding which provider and went to a signal blackspot i knew. vodaphone no signal O2 one bar then none orange 3 bars plus. and then upgraded to EE and thats better, and the sony is a cracking phone have a leather wallet for it so its kept clean when not in use and very pleased with it. and i have taken pictures under water with it. when they saw me do it they just said thats your phone wrecked. out it came with a picture on and fine. hope to try it properly under water when i do some river restoration work. must look into the clip on zoom lens that looks good who needs a camera:thumbup:
  5. if its green waste eg chip anything green then you can transport other peoples waste for free. as i say i checked with EA as getting asked to move a lot more and they said lower teir was the one i required. so grass clippings brash, chip. its fine. higher teir is for other things household waste, builders waste,. scrap if taking it for other people is higher teir. but if its at your yard when yo take it to scrappy then its your own so no need for one
  6. hondas are good also have a comercial mountfield and thats better than the honda still old school not the new type. new roller mowers not cheap for a good one for comercial work not get much change from a grand if not more
  7. now heard two this year most i have heard for years good to hear hate to see them disapeer part of our landscape. even if there not that nice a bird kicking out other birds eggs for there own.
  8. thats higher tear for carrying builders waste or any waste which is hazardous any waste from arb or landscape work green waste is lowe tear. i checked with the EA before doing it. hence i have the lower one and its free:thumbup:
  9. all green waste including chip is in the lower tear which is free. all you need to do is dispose of it resonsibly if someone wants the chip then fine.
  10. the husky ones are brilliant i have had one now for over a year and with brushcutter set up so it balenced will not know you have it on worth the money. mine was the pro plus with 3 clips across chest one a bit down and one around waist. i can work nearly all day and my shoulders are fine as padding is so deep.

  14. i had a dr and it was a awsome beast went through anything it died and then got a echo bearcat walk behind cheap its good and it will munch through most things so quick. did a mile of footpath today took just under the hour to strim and blow off the grass from pavement so quick and makes a neat job. but if i was getting a new one i would have the self propeled DR with swinging head which you can put a blade on for doing saplings. knock spots off the bearcat. sitting down over £1000 new. but you can do so much so quick brambles will eat them for tea. the string is 6mm.
  15. +1 always keeping a eye out for the tell tell sign of you know who. also if it has a forign plate and its crusing on red alert.
  16. charterhouse do a over seeder that goes on a cultivator stone burier as the cultivator is doing its job the seed is broadcasted in to ground and covered by roller on back. so can do the whole job in one.
  17. anyone been watching these programes. blacksmith joinery and this week stone mason. very enjoyable. also love of cars for you LR people restored a mk1 land rover cracking job last week mk1 escort mexico next week triumph stag. maybe next series montys does, is have chain saw carving a skill to do that
  18. give chris at cutting edge a call based in colden commen 8 miles from romsey will deliver if needed and he has just what you want on tracks goes 45ft plus and out that distance many local firms use him his number 07818 033394 chris got in first. very good chap to deal with and a good price
  19. +1 they have to be at the correct depth and now headstones have to have a plate underneath to stop them going over. lot of work moving them. as other posts protect them with bales of straw or plywood. if you did move them and they were not put back correctly and one fell over hate to think what it would cost in insurance. part of my job maintaining cemterys is checking the helth of headstonesand reporting back. if they are leaning then the family have to have them secured which is taken out the headstone putting in a stone plate with rods and headstone s then slotted onto plate and glued. big job and not cheap
  20. very intersting reading wanted to propogate some elm as think i have some resilinant strains as still good as next door DED. will go on RHS website and swat up on it thanks for info
  21. as all other posts if its your lawn or one customers nice posh lawn which they want looked after then yes a cylinder will give you cracking results. but the cylinders need to be kept in tip top so they will cut paper. your normal lawn will have you know what in it hit a stone thats the cylinder ruined £100 bill to have it sharpened. get a rotary with a roller on back or a mower with a rubber brush on back and will get the stripes. my toro ride on has a rubber mat on back and that gives me stripes. customers like the finish.
  22. go on BTO site cuckoo tracking fasinating to see were they were caught and still come back to the same place did loose one to a sudanese who shot it for lunch. better not go down that track as chris packham been arested for protesting about jonny foringer shooting birds of prey and song birds.
  23. depends if in the sticks or in town. i live out in the country my phone line is baler twine laced with copper. i am lucky on a good day to get 2mb norm 1.5 or less. said o sky paying the same as others in town yet my service is c**p looked int it and no chance of fibre ever yet have a satilite tracking station up road which has to dogs do da.s but will not link us into the line which runs to that. looking at putting in a loft be quicker to send a pigeon than it takes to send emails sometimes. all this we will get fibre to the rural locations yes if its a big village. us in hamlets stand no chance of getting it.
  24. is the honda 435 not a pro machine. yes sthils are good so are the husky but the honda is a good machine hardly any vibes from it light to use when adjusted correctly only need to use fingers tips for control. the cruise control sounds good when cutting a lot be nice just to set it at one speed and let go of throttle. thats the only draw back with most of them getting a numb hand holding the trigger in for a long time.
  25. we have a pergeot and its a pain to work on garage hates it. have to say not much has gone wrong with it but then does not get used that much electric window has gone wrong and price for new one was £600 and still to find a scrap one to pinch it off. looking at a vito know them and the ones i had were trouble free apart from one which had a common rail problem but was replaced under warrenty. ask your garage you use what he recomends. the pergeot engine are hard to work on even changing battery is hard work. so tight.
