  1. Springs do become weak and dont retract the starter rope fully, ive never known them harder to pull out, and its strange they have both gone at the same time.
  2. Does it get problems with both carbs?
  3. Rich had a problem like this a while back, I think it turned out to be lightly seized.
  4. Weak recoil spring, or its full of dust and dirt.
  5. Try to plug up the inlet manifold after you've removed the carb, its easy for bits of crud to drop down in there.
  6. Did you remove the negative feedback? should have just left it. Ebay can see every message you've ever sent and received so i would have just asked them to have a look. On the no returns thing, if you read ebays policy it says that no returns for both private and business sellers is not a get out of the deal clause neither is sold as seen, even though there is a box you can tick on the listings saying that you as a seller accept no returns.
  7. I dont have the amount of different machines coming through the door that you do Barrie, and when ordering parts i dont get them direct from the manufacturers i go to the main dealers in town and always take the parts to be replaced with me and together we've only once got it wrong. Only time ive needed numbers is the engine code for Briggs engines.
  8. I will happily work on any machines that come my way, accusing people of owning stolen property in my eyes is the fastest way to the dole queue. Ive never been asked for serial numbers from any machine that ive ordered parts for. If machines in your shop are stolen and you get a pull and charged from the old bill for handeling stolen goods your not doing your booking in paperwork right.
  9. Noticed it many times over the years, postcodes etched onto the machines that are from over 200 miles away and the customers from the next village. I just put it down to buying second hand from the internet.
  10. Its not my job to accuse customers of being thieves or handleing stolen goods, its my job to repair the machines they bring in. If i asked everytime a machine came in i wouldnt have time to work on it.
  11. Repair it, write out the bill and ring them to tell them its fixed. Ive fixed many a saw thats ex hire shop and they all have had the numbers ground off. Apparently its policy to do it when they sell them on.
  12. A Zeus book is also a very good addition to go with a tap and die set.
  13. Presto if your on a budget or guhring if you want expensive quality for taps and dies .

    Auctioneers?

Watts at Barnsley, and York machinery sales. I think its what everyone does that goes to small plant sales, buys, repairs and sells on.
  15. From what i was told yesterday its so the new owner has to insure it straight away to be able to get it taxed. But if the new owner dosnt have to display a tax disc im pretty sure it wont be insured or taxed straight away, so i assume from october there will be lots more un taxed and un insured cars driving around. The sweetener for this scheme is that you can pay for your tax monthly by direct debit.

    Fuel mix help

What saw is it? Run it on stihl 50-1 mix and you wont go wrong.
  17. It seems a bit suspect to me, nine top bids all of the same amount. £540.50
  18. Two tree surgeons rescued after trying to drive through 7ft-deep flood | Mail Online
  19. There a few bits of stihl and husqvarna forsale on the police website bumblebeeauctions.co.uk around the avonmouth area. From what i understand it has been in there ownership for 6 months so it must have been stolen at least 6 months ago and if no one comes forward they sell it, but if you do recognise it and have the serial numbers they will give you it back, but if the serial numbers have been removed from the machine youve got no chance even if its got your name and postcode written on it.
  20. Mitox 5020 Chainsaw
  21. 08 chainsaws were sold with the additional option of buying the extra bits to turn them into the disc cutter. All the 08's ive seen and owned didn't have the round airfilter on the back they just had a black plastic cap that screwed in to hold the filter in place. So if you see an 08 with the round airfilter housing its most likely started out as a disc cutter and been turned into a chainsaw.
  22. Is it a Performance Power PRO, blue and yellow in colour? Bricks and Queues have a phone number for all spare parts for the own brand machines.
  23. Sick of eating and watching repeats on the tv so ive rebuild the carb on a robin strimmer this morning, going to empty out the parts washer and refill it this afternoon and order a load of nuts, bolts and washers to refill the lin bins as im running low.
  24. Set of Facom crows foot spanners, i remember saying mid summer i could do with a set and never got round to getting them. Now i know why brother in law asked 2 weeks ago if i had any he could borrow. Back on the bench is a tecumseh powersport engine that is not priming on the button, us cleaned carb and everything looks ok. Need to order a bowl seal for it as this one has completely perished.
  25. If it did seize first time round, did you find out the cause?
