  1. If you have a DTI test the end of the crank where the bearing and drum fit, just to rule out a bent crankshaft. A 10 second check can solve a lot of head scratching.
  2. McCulloch Cylinder | www.4mcculloch.co.uk Part number for the cylinder is 5300125506 fits lots of models, google search the part number for the cheapest. It throws up jonsered, flymo and husky.
  3. 99% sure its the same as a Mcculloch mac 335 but, without my laptop in front of me i cant be 100% sure. Good running 335's can be picked up on ebay for less than £20.
  4. 271 homeowner/farmer saw, 261 pro saw.
  5. Fill it with gunk degreaser from the hole where you put in the grease and replace the plug then give it a shake about and turn the spindle by hand for while and tip the resulting mess out of the hole. Repeat a few times and that should be job done. Best off if you can fill it up and leave it overnight to break the grease down.
  6. 13 bar equates to 188 psi. 188 is good, is your guage a good one? as 188 is a very good reading with a slightly scored piston.
  7. I tighten them until my wrist clicks.
  8. Today i planned to cut some scrap up thats lying around before the grass starts growing over it again and weigh it in, fueled up the TS400 and set off to chop some polytunnel frames up. A TS400 will run for about 2 mins with straight petrol, as soon as it conked out i knew what i had done. Too much on my mind and trying to do 3 things at once and the top end is FUBAR. So thats tomorrows on my bench when the new top end arrives.
  9. This guy must be bonkers, Stihl,Husqvarna chainsaw etc carburettor utrasonic cleaning, testing service. | eBay Less than a tenner to USC a carb and that includes return postage, £27.50 for one to be put in mine.
  10. To start an auction at £30 costs a lot more than starting at £29.99
  11. MS260 with a chinese top end on, customer said he bought it off ebay and fitted the top end himself, Stone cold the saw is 140 psi, run it for 5 mins and stop it and it wont restart and the compression is 60 psi. Exhaust off and there is no damage to piston or cylinder, let it cool and comp is back up to 140 starts and runs, stop it again and it wont restart because the compression is too low again. So i took the cylinder off while it was hot and the rings are stuck fast in the grooves pinched up tight against the pins. Sat and had a cig and looked at it and as it cooled down the rings opened up and sat as they should. Put some oem rings in and its running and starting fine. Dont know what the rings were made off but when they get warm they expand fast and get stuck.

  14. Traffic cops on Dave, Tree surgeon arrested. Repeated at 7pm tonight the tree surgeon is on about 8 mins into the program.
  15. Just had a mountfield sp454 dropped off, brand new, was bought in B and Q January sale and assembled this morning for its first use, the owner has filled the oil halfway up the dipstick and started it. After 2 minutes she said there was white smoke everywhere so she phoned the help line and they said its your fault, nothing we can do. Anyway, ive drained the oil and re-filled it to correct level and run it for 10 mins to try and burn off all the excess oil. Still smokes so i figure the exhaust is full of oil so i fit a new exhaust and still the same. Can over filled oil cause anymore damage like blown head gasket or anything else i should be checking.
  16. The lower one looks further away from the nut than the upper one does, could possibly be catching on just one.
  17. Rich, that rope rotor looks warn but cant really see in the pic, are the two pawls on the flywheel free? they dont look in the right position to me. the springs do wear and get muck stuck in them, pop the flywheel off and you can tap the pins out holding them in and give all the bits a good clean and oil.
  18. pretty sure the 026 / 260 has a longer stroke than the 024 / 240 but not sure without checking tomorrow. Someone will pop up soon with a firm answer.
  19. Sounds like the same seller i bought a saw off once, i managed to get hold of his mobile phone number and did a google search and he advertises on all the free sites wanting garden machiney, then in his ebay listings makes out like hes owned it from new.
  20. Three TS410 concrete saws today all badly running, seen this so many times. Whenever the filters get changed the 4 screws get over tightened and the brass threaded insert spins and strips the plastic splines in the tank housing. So then the bolts just spin and the rear cover wont come off and the filters never get replaced again. Drilled the bolt heads out, push the brass inserts out and heat up a M5 nut and push it into the plastic, melting a hexagon into it, push in an other M5 nut and seal in place with Fixall, replace with new filters and job done.
  21. My Jonsered fuel cap was like this, got worse with time and came to the point where it wouldn't come undone without mole grips, got a new one and it solved the problem but its started to go the same way again.
  22. Been back and had another look, i had not put in the new carb to cylinder gasket. Runs spot on now.
  23. B and S engine on a generator, guy says its not run for a while can you have a look, emptied fuel out, carb off, (pulsa jet type). Cleaned jets, replaced pump diaphragm and tank gasket, put it back together needle valve out 1 1/2 turns as book says and started afters 5 pulls. Ran perfect for a few mins and then i noticed i didnt turn the choke off so pushed the choke in and it cut out. tried to start it with choke off and wouldnt start, tried with choke on and ran perfect until i turned choke off when it cut out again. Must be fuel issues but there aint much to check on these carbs. Any ideas.
  24. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha Stihl MS 460 Chainsaw | eBay I do hope no one buys it.
  25. Be sure to find out what caused the damage in the first place, otherwise if you dont and use the saw you will be back to square one within minutes.
