  1. A top end rebuild kit or a bit of acid and emery cloth on the cylinder and a new piston should do it. Other that that, polish it with WD40 and stick it on ebay as spares or repair and it should sell for the price of a brand new saw.
  2. Rich, you need an old piece of inner tube and some good super glue, cut the tube along the length so you have a flat piece about 3 inch x 1 1/2 inch glue the belt to the inner tube in the middle then once thats dried fold over one side and glue, then once dried fold over the other side to over lap and glue. Got me a weeks worth of washing done until the replacement arrived.
  3. PROTECTIVE BOOTS And Brushcutter Shin Guards - Protective Clothing Buy UK The Lightning Class 2 Chainsaw Boot go upto size 15
  4. We were going to get one but were told that they suffer from fuel pump issues and are costly to repair, The guy who i asked said look on Ebay to see how many are being sold as spares or repairs with pump issues, loads of them. We opted for a 1.9sdi Vw caddy for just tootling around and cant fault it.

    Buying From USA

I always thought that it had to be CE marked to be used in the UK, If someone using it had an accident and the item wasnt CE marked your pretty much stuffed.
  6. Never buy a saw off someone who spells expense as ex spence.
  7. They wear out with time, how old is the machine? A new flywheel is £££'s. Stihl changed the flywheels at some point and dont produce the earlier versions anymore, so if you buy second hand make sure you get an exact part number match.
  8. Sounds like the magnets in the flywheel have gone or have considerably weakened.

    paint job

Hammerite! The white that Stihl use is actually Grey.
  10. Shouldnt you have gone to see it before putting in the winning bid? If you dont take it you have cost the seller time and money.
  11. Fake.

  13. My lads told me wrong. Its Norton in Shropshire, TF11 9EJ Its a 070AV with a 30 inch bar. Posting to near Kingston upon Hull
  14. Is there anyone in or around Norton in Staffordshire that can collect me a chainsaw and then box it up and send it on to me or i will arrange a courier to collect it. Fuel money, beer money and sellotape money.
  15. I know its stupid, but is there any fuel in? ive built a saw before and pulled and pulled to try and get it to start and then realised i had not put any fuel in.
  16. We replace quite a few of the pumps on these, they are the same pump used in a lot of stihl chainsaws MS170 180 210 230 250 021 023 025 171 181 211. Easy to change and around £11 new.

    stihl 201 IPL

Everytime i see a request for an IPL i always first think of the Indian Premier League.
  18. :confused1::confused1:
  19. Stihl 024av thats been kicking around for a while, decided to give it a good clean and treat it to a new piston and rings. Here is the crank case all sealed up prior to being submerged in the parts washer overnight.
  20. My guess is that it has dropped a valve.
  21. Has it got a schader valve in? cos if it hasnt it will never give you a proper reading on a 2 stroke engine.
  22. If the fuel pipe has deteriorated, chances are that the impulse line and possible the inlet manifold could do with looking at aswell. Or if you have replaced the fuel pipe, did you completely remove the orange handle to get at it or replaced the fuel pipe with the handle in place. Could have disturbed the impulse line where it mounts onto the handle.
  23. Talking to a local copper last night who told me about this site Immobilise :: The National Property Register, for phones, gadgets, bikes & more... Does anybody already use it?
  24. have the 2 mounts on the clutch side of the saw got their bolts and plastic bungs in? Has the mount that connects the crank case to the handle (flywheel side) got its 3 bolts in? And its not split away from the metal plate.

    Unbelievable

im not blaming anyone, good luck to the seller. He could buy new ones, lean sieze them and sell them on knackered for a profit. Its the people that buy them for spares or repairs that think they are getting a bargain, there the ones i cant get my head round. This saw will need at least £25 in parts. They could have got a new one plus a few extras for the same money without the hassle of fixing it. Even a quick ebay search comes up with new ones at £289.
