  1. only difference i know of is that it will have a spark screen in the exhaust. Take this out and throw it away.
  2. 171 181 and 211 all share the same case and handle, good second hand handles are as rare as rocking horse ****
  3. Are you pulling fast enough? ive noticed that the newer stihl machines need to be pulled over faster to test for spark than the older machines. I tried a 026 against an 261 pulling them over at the same speed and the spark on the 261 is virtually non existent compared to the big fat spark on the 026.
  4. How come you've not left him negative feedback yet? It would have been the first thing i would have done once i got home. Or have you and its been deleted for foul language.
  5. Im pretty sure you cant buy them new, ive got a few knackered 4 mix cylinders kicking about for when i need a replacement guide.
  6. Did you pull the exhaust and were horrified at the sight?
  7. Do you mean the guides that the valve slides in? if so they are replaceable, just press them out.
  8. Could it be that the flywheel side bearing is shot, when pulled over with the plug in the compression at tdc is causing the crank in the bearing to move and the magnets on the flywheel are coming into contact with the coil, when the plug isnt in there is no compression causing the crank in the bearing to move so the flywheel spins as it should.
  9. STIHL FS410 C INDUSTRIAL PROFESSIONAL BRUSHCUTTER STRIMMER IN NEED OF ATTENTION | eBay I assume this is the machine, I looked at it and it was too expensive at the starting price of £175, as Spud says if you expect the worst then you wont be disappointed if it does need a new pot. If it was £75 cheaper i would have had it, its a £600 machine new, £350-£400 second hand. If you spent £100 fixing it and a few hours labour £150-£200 profit is not to be sniffed at.
  10. Offered it? looks like you was winning bidder if your asking about it. You can get after market pistons but im not sure about availability of after market cylinders if it needs one. It was listed as needing repairs with a good description and if it was my auction and you won it and turned up and didnt take it i would be quite pissed off with timewasters.
  11. Phoned the owner of the FS90av and asked if he had recently swapped the fuel cap, Yes he said, my son lost it last week so we fitted one that we had on an old shinny. Did the problems start after replacing the cap? Yes he said, did the lad not say so when he dropped it off? Some under breath swearing and a correct cap on order. Cheers, Mike and Spud for pointing me in the right direction.
  12. Stihl FS90AV strimmer fitted with a TK carb, looking for a carb to fit said machine as this one is doing my head in. Runs perfect all day long. Left over night and the fuel empties itself into the cylinder. Obviously a leaking needle so completely re kitted the carb with new needle, spring, metering arm, and diaghprams and gaskets. Fired second pull and used to clear an acre of grass without a problem, left over night and its emptied the petrol tank into the cylinder again. RE tested it and needle pops off at 13 psi and does not leak. If i dont use it it doesn't leak over night but if its used for a hour or so it will leak out over night again.
  13. Mahle are OEM. They are what stihl and husky saws leave the factory fitted with.
  14. A photo with the plug out looking down on the hole would prove it either way.
  15. Looks like they have used a too big slot drill when they spot faced the rough casting to clean up the face prior to drilling and threading the spark plug hole. It looks a very cheap after market pot, i would be more concerned about it failing than the hole in the fin.
  16. This one? jonsereds 49 spchain saw | eBay Looks alright for £40 mike acres has this listed about it Model Profile: 49SP

    2 stroke oil

Run it on quality oil mixed at 50-1, The quality of oils has advanced since your saw was built, 50-1 wont do it any harm at all. If your using quality oil everything should be run at 50-1 no matter what it says the mix should be.
  18. If you buy new 026 carb from stihl the it comes with the 2 different tops, one normal flat one and the one with the top that plugs into the airfilter. So i assume you just use the top you need. Ive not really looked into but thats how the one i ordered for a customer to fit themselves arrived.

    stihl 064

The silicone is normal. Every 64 I've done has been the same.

    Cheap MS660

Whats is there on this saw that will be useable? There must be something as bidding has started.
  21. Shes mendable, looks like an aftermarket top end on it, is it?
  22. Ive just read the the post about it starting, must have missed it first time. If it does start first thing in a morning and then refuses to start when its got warm, its probably had a light seizure.
  23. Could be the needle in the carb is staying slightly open and allowing fuel to flood the cylinder.
  24. New piston and rings, new little end bearing, new crank bearings, new crank seals, new gaskets all round, rebuild the carb with a complete new kit. I see no sense not doing it all.
  25. How are you testing compression through the exhaust port????
