  1. .5mm is too much, should be half that. Why did the piston need replacing? if it was due to a seizure was the cylinder cleaned up? Have you re connected the impulse line?
  2. As far as i know there are two different types under the same model number, i bought one for £32 from a feather and fur sale to use as parts as i needed a new front wheel but the diameter of the shaft it fits on was different as were the rear wheel shafts. Its still sat there doing nothing if you ever need any bits.
  3. Ive had one for 10 years and its never missed a beat, mine is the 4 wheel version and wouldn't hesitate about getting another if this one ever dies. There has been some comments previously on this forum by others praising them aswell.
  4. Careful with that screwdriver resting on that metering arm. You can seal the plug in with nail varnish.
  5. Strimmer Comprehensive Service - Suitable For Stihl, Bosch, Flymo & More | eBay
  6. When placed side by side with the old one are there any differences in size? Are you 100% sure you are installing it correctly. No matter how reputable the seller on ebay the non original parts will still be cheap Chinese junk.
  7. Could be lightly seized, enough compression to run when its cold and once warm not enough.
  8. Talking of Hire Shops, i was talking to a guy the other day who worked in one of the big nationwide hire places and he said that one day management came in and said "instead of keeping stihl spares on stock were going to order them in as and when needed so throw out all the spares we have" They filled a skip full of Stihl spares.
  9. Reminds me of a Fred Dibnah episode.
  10. They must be the Emperor's New Clothes
  11. Looks like its got problems, i wouldnt run it anymore until the cause of the damage to the piston is found.
  12. Quite a few different kits in the uk from garden hire tk repair kit | eBay
  13. Just been to collect a honda mower, loaded it into the van then i asked the owner for the grass bag as i have always steam cleaned them as part of a service. He said last time someone else serviced it they never wanted it and would me cleaning it cost extra. Told him it was all in as part of the service. I cant believe another place would not clean the bag.
  14. Never seen one for an 048, seen them for 024 026 MS240 MS260.
  15. Where in East Yorkshire are you, i use the guys in Swanland and have never had a problem with the time it takes to order parts if they arent on the shelf. Order in on a monday and they are available on wednesday to collect.
  16. Same thing happened to me but i was asked to take a photo of the barcode if i had a camera on my phone, i did and they scanned the photo of the barcode to make the sale.
  17. Power washers packed up this morning and its about time i got a new one, it was a nilfisk. Whats everyone else use?
  18. could just be that the earth wire (green/yellow) has snapped, look towards the front av mounting, one end of it fixes onto one of the av mounting screws
  19. If its not going to break the bank i would buy it. Then you've got it you can look for that work.
  20. Cheers Barrie, got underneath the mower this morning while someone was moving the drive lever and noticed that the bracket was spinning on the shaft and not engaging drive. Fitted a new roll pin and it drives around like a good un. Thanks.
  21. Am i missing something simple here? Came in as a non runner "spluttered to a stop and backfired and wouldn't restart". Checked it over and the flywheel key had sheared, iv'e replaced this and it fires up and runs well. Now is the problem that it wont drive, iv'e pushed the pin back in that allows you to freewheel it and i'm assuming that you slide the lever forward to move forward and the further you move it the faster it goes and the same for reverse but nothing seems to be happening, all the belts look good and nothing is seized up underneath. Ive not got a lot of experience with ride on's.
  22. Nice job, does the saw hold pressure? Just a vacuum tester to make now and you've got the kit.
  23. I get them now and then trying it on, Everybody must have cut their grass at least once by now this year. I would have asked what other mower are they using if they have not used that one and why am i not servicing it every year? Just out of interest, how old was the customer?

    Stihl

Dont get hung up on water, find out why it seized and replace the top end.
