  1. Have no experience my self but the guy selling it is only 10 mins away from me and have never heard a good thing about him or his service
  2. I have the top handle version of this and have put a quarter pitch sprocket on it and modded a stihl ms150 to fit it...It flies to say the least, seriously impressive for the size of saw
  3. Great trucks but not so good for towing as have a measly towing capacity. After owning one for over a year now I will say not to overlook the Isuzu rodeo. Mine has been great, done around 14k and all its cost me is some new tyres, very agricultural 3l engine and not fast by any means but bags of torque so great for towing and averages 32-34 mpg
  4. Fantastic, the old man has nearly chopped his old saw horse to pieces haha. Well done to all those that took part, many will benefit from your efforts ☺👍
  5. With plenty of rock climbing experience I would imagine the climbing side of things will be pretty strait forward for you. Make sure you learn your knots and personally I would get the theory side dialed in so to speak. Most of all relax and enjoy your self
  6. It's either laziness or inexperience. Either way it's just outright stupidity. 20mins tops to go up and section that down
  7. In my opinion the certificates are important but only for insurance purposes. The competency gained with the ticket is no different to a driving licence. You pass your test but by no means does that mean your good at what you've just passed, it takes years to gain enough experience to be good at it. Having met/worked with several college grads I would say the issue is ego inflation cause they aced the course and were built up by tutors etc. I feel most have little to no idea what will actually be expected of then in a work environment and I completely agree with your second comment about a days work a week. Trouble is I don't feel most are happy to bring people on, a lot seem to want experienced staff or brash rats with no tickets etc. A part of me wishes I went to college for a couple of years to learn a bit more of the theory side of things but at the same time I know my climbing wouldn't be anywhere close to where it is and I'm by no means a good climber, I would say I'm competent and that's after 2 years subbing and doing my own work
  8. I have an 06 3l rodeo Denver max and it's really good, bags of torque so pulls well, comfy, handles well and not bad on fuel either, I get 30-34mpg. Would highly recomend
  9. Not sure anyone can make a valid comment/criticism without first hand experience and you certainly can't just cause you read some numbers on a piece of paper!
  10. The first pic is the 360t which is the older model and the second pic is the 360tes. It's the 360tes that you want.
  11. I have had the 260tes for 2 years and it's taken some abuse with no issues, my only gripe with this saw is the chain break handle is only mounted one side so flexes but okay when you get used to it. Have had the 360tes since release and again, no issues, very nice saw. Then I got the 620sx at the apf and I am very impressed so far, very strong saw and feels very well built. They are great saws, well built and at a fraction of the cost of the competition, it's a win win situation in my opinion
  12. Took this with my mk1 galaxy camera in France. 21xzoom from about 2' away. Fantastic camera in my opinion
  13. As has already been said. Looks a lovely tree to get stuck into to build your confidence, helped me a lot pushing out of my comfort zone and set me up well for future jobs. It's always good to have an experienced climber with you, it's surprising how much of a confidence boost it can be just having someone experienced on the ground walking you through it. Price wise I would come in at about £1000 after seeing the picture and that would be for my self climbing, a rescue climber and a brash dragger for 2 days
  14. Ahh I see, have always been in the belief that that was the case, thankyou for clearing that up for me. I would still request that all sub contractors that work for me have their own though even though mine covers them. Seems silly to me to try and operate as an arborist with out public liability insurance to be honest and it's not exactly expensive in the grand scheme of things.
  15. I am well aware of the employers liability for sub contractors but is it not mandatory that all sub contractors must have their own public liability in place as well?
  16. Pretty certain docking his wages is illegal and you want to watch you don't get in trouble for it. On another note , I would say the blame is on the both of you. Your fault for letting someone else sort your climbing kit and his for forgetting the flip line. Personally no one touches my climbing kit but me, that way I know it's all sorted and looked after and my kit gets packed up before I do anything else once I've finished climbing. This is just my opinion though but I've worked with some numpties over the years and learnt the only person you can really trust to look after your gear is your self.
  17. Got a tsurugi curve at the apf and hands down it beats the zubat in my opinion. Well worth the money!!
  18. Get in touch with Jason at forest and arb, he will sort you out.
  19. I disagree with this. I believe mk1's down fall was user error from what I've heard. Not checking carabiner was orientated properly resulting in cross loaded carabiner and a rediculas leverage ratio on the top attachment point meaning it snapped and again I believe mk2's issue has something to do with cross loading the friction link bit which again would be user error. I'm happy to accept if I'm wrong and someone else knows a bit better but this is my opinion. I have had the mk2 since release and it's a fantastic and confidence boosting piece of kit and I have had no issues what so ever. Wouldn't be without it now!
  20. That's fine, I'm running an average of 7 with no problems. Xbox live is around £40 a year I believe
  21. I have run the echo 260tes for 2 years now with no faults and the echo 360tes since release, again with no faults. Fantastic saws in my opinion and I would recommend them both to anyone. The chain brake handle on the 260 is only mounted one side so flexes a little but hasn't been an issue for me really
  22. Can no longer get 390xpg in the UK sadly
  23. I believe it states no more of a fall than 50cm so 25cm of slack above the anchor equates to a 50cm drop
  24. No photos I'm afraid but the largest fire place I've seen was roughly 6' tall 8 ' wide and 5 ' deep and was purely an open fire in a farm house where i worked in Devon. Needless to say...log processing was very easy haha
  25. Have no experience with them but i had a good look round this one at the apf with the dealer and it looked and sounded pretty promising in my opinion but I guess only time will tell...
