  1. Obviously everyone is going to be different because every one has different needs etc. I can do a 3 man day with chipper for 480 if need be and im still making a pretty penny but it's easy for me as the only finance/out goings I have if a little finance on my truck. I don't think there can be a wrong day rate, just dependent on the particular business
  2. I'll second Geoff on the quality and I believe your wrong. I believe that echo sell well because they are well built, very reliable and at a much more affordable price. Don't knock it till you've tried it!! Everyone that has used one of my two top handles has been plesently surprised by there quality and performance

    Uniforms

I wear a vest day in day out when I'm working, weather that be to keep me cooler or keep me warmer on colder day. I really can't see a problem with them, yeah they may not look as professional as a polo shirt but I for one can't stand to spend more than an hour or so in a polo shirt. I have never lost work or been frowned upon by any client or potential client for wearing one, I think it make more of a differance what vehicle/tools you have and what condition there in. If your wearing a vest and present your self well and do a professional job no one is going to have a problem. Put it this way, what looks more professional. A guy that turns up in a banged up transit with wooden chip sides wearing a polo shirt and high viz or a guy that turns up in a newer better kept transit/4x4 pickup and gets out wearing a vest? In my opinion the first one I mentioned would look more gypsy than the second one
  4. Had a bit of spare time recently so thought I'd have a play at carving again. The wood spitit and green man are firsts for me and the bear is the second I have done. All been done with just a saw and a wire wheel on a drill to take the fuzz off. All but the green man are elm and the green man is beach, what do you all think? Also what should they sell for as I have no idea ? The Green Man is around 3' tall
  5. Would like to add that this bar and chain combo is all I use, no grinder just a wire wheel in a drill to take the fuzz off
  6. I'm not a great fan of stihl but for ease of set up I would suggest the ms150ce to start with as it has a tine chain and the standard bar is quater tip so basically just fill with fuel and oil and crack on
  7. I've had mine since they arrived in the country and put a couple of gallon through and it's excellent! Just keeps getting better and comparatively im almost certain it would keep with if not (dare I say it haha) beat a 200t :sly: I know what you mean about the filler holes but if you have a husky fuel can it's no bother as the anti spill spout fits.
  8. 600. 1 climber, 1 saw operating/rescue groundy and one brash rat for a day
  9. Aviva all day long, im 25 with 6 years no claims and have an 06 isuzu rodeo and it only costs me £210 a year
  10. If so you are a lucky git! Haha im over here for a few days atm and cannot get over how beautiful a tranquil the area is and it's scorching sunshine to boot. This is the view from the pool at the gîte
  11. The word from my dealer is he hasn't got a clue haha. He was supposed to be getting them 3 weeks ago but nothing yet and they have stopped making the old one so he has no fuel cans at all atm haha
  12. I have an 06 isuzu rodeo worth around 10k with 6 years no claims and im only 25 years old and it's only £210 with aviva! They are seriously worth a call
  13. I'd go for the echo cs360tes, excellent saw and would keep with an ms200 I recon. At under 400 you can't go wrong really!
  14. I have considered it thanks Paul and have decided it was a nice idea to save money but it's not really worth the saving if something we're to go wrong so I'm going to just keep it as an idea
  15. Ahh I see. I have no fears of it being strong enough as I'll get my brother to do all the fabricating as that's been his trade for the past 10 years but the lack of certification bothers me due to the implications if something went wrong. It's yet another Idea I think I may keep as just an idea haha
  16. So if I were to have one fabricated is there any way of getting it certified?
  17. I'm glad I'm not the only one thats thought about it haha. The idea crossed my mind cause of cost more than anything, if making yourself you could have a serious bit of rigging kit for under a grand. I'm asuming the boat winches are the same thing as the GRCS winch?
  18. At risk of being shot down...I was just wondering if anyone had considered making something like the GRCS? its a great tool but at an astounding price of nearly £2500 it seems a little expensive. I was looking recently and you can get a 2 speed self tailing boat winch for around 500 ( two speed self tailing sailboat winches - Google Search ) and im sure it wouldn't take much to fab up a plate to mount it for use. Not too much criticism please as it is only a thought haha
  19. Awesome bit of kit, what's the swl on one of these?
  20. Try switching the fronts with the rears to even them out a bit
  21. The old man has built a couple in the garden with a concrete base mixed by hand and about 3" think, built a timber frame on the concrete and bolted it down then simply clad in 18 mm ply and paint. Really simple and quite secure. Door is bolted and locked with hinge bolts and alarms. Would have to make a lot of noise to get in.
  22. *Good. I've had a few by this point haha
  23. Ahh okay, that's food news to me. I was lead to believe it had to be seasoned for a while before carving to get the best results
  24. Cheers for the advice guys, will take it all into consideration. I realise it'll all split to some degree but is there any way of preventing/minimalising the amount it splits? Also, ideal how long should it be seasoned before carving?
