Gonna head down again this year, was just thinking about getting into the trade in 2012 so it was all rather over whelming if you know what I mean, should be a little more interesting now I know a bit more. Would be nice to meet a few from on here, maybe at the beer tent? Haha sadly I will probably have to drive though unless I can rope the Mrs into driving

Great little saw for by the chipper, I also use mine for carving if your into that. Personally for the money I don't think you can go wrong

I have one that I have used for hedge thinning and it worked well. Granted it's not got bags of power but it's got enough, very good saw for the money in opinion

Quite disappointed in this to be fair, guess there just isn't enough demand for the big saws with heated handles. Shame but never mind, gonna get the 576xpg for now and keep my eyes pealed for a second hand 390 or 395xpg

Just a suggestion but the little echo is well worth the money and yes it may be small but you'd be surprised what it'll do. Being fairly new you probs won't be tackling anything large for a while. Had mine over a year now and never wanted for a bigger topper, if the echo won't do it then the 550xp comes up with me

Quick update for anyone wanting to know. Have spoken to several places that have the 390xpg advertised and my local dealer has contacted husqvarna and there are none in the country and they have been discontinued . Looks like I'll have to settle for the 576 xpg in stead as that's the largest saw they do with heated handles now

So im looking at getting a bigger saw but don't want to buy one without heated handles. Ideally I would get the 390xp but can't find one with heated handles, failing that itll have to be the 576 xpg. Does anyone know if the 390xpg is available here? Thanks in advance George

I have a 550xp and can honestly say it's more than comfortable on an 18" bar and mine surprises everyone that uses it with how fast it cuts on an 18 for a 50cc saw but I wouldn't go to a 20. Think it would be too much and too much stress on the saw

Cheers for the supportive words of advise, has really helped. Was kicking my self and getting a bit down about it so thanks to you all . As disappointed as I am at my self for not having a go I'm also glad I decided not to carry on and make a mess of things. I'd also like to add that the tree wasn't in the best of health with lots of included bark, rot pockets and splits which was my main worry. I'll be back again though only with a more positive attitude and a more experienced climber . Thanks again, it's greatly appreciated 👍

So I'm sub contracting atm and the job in hand is a large sycamore reduction. The lead climber has turned the job down and now I have been asked to do it. I only have a year's experience and to be honest it's beyond my experience but I don't want to seem like a let down. It's the first job I've been asked to do that im not comfortable with and feel I can't do but don't know how to explain it without upsetting the boss or sounding like a chicken so to speak . Any ideas?

I'm using imori and it's not bad, think it's 12 mm though not 11.5. I would steer clear of the tachyon, it would appear the zz2 doesn't like it and chews it up. Heard nothing but good about the yale blue tongue

This all makes me sound expensive! I get between 60-80 at one place I sub and 100-120 a day with another with just over a year's experience as a climber . I'm tackling some big jobs though.

Bought a pasta pot from the shop one day and it didn't come with a fork so I mad one out of a credit card with secateurs. Canceled it after...never did like having it haha

I have 18 and 13 for mine and have only used the 13 for 1 day In 18 months. Love it on the 18 and it does just fine, great for cutting bigger timber in the tree too due to the light weight of the saw. Just bought a sugi light type in 18" to replace the original bar

Don't think you can go wrong with the granberg precision grinder from Rob at chainsaw bars, really good bit of kit and makes sharpening big bars a breeze!

Fair point I and I can completely agree, my experience has pretty much been the same. I was meaning to start with take it steady and don't push your self until you get more comfortable, then when your comfortable and more confident in your ability, push your comfort zone a bit. This is pretty much what I did. Recreational climbs are pretty much where I built my confidence, you have the ability to do as much or as little as you want with no time scale and no pressure to get a job done
