  1. Market Rasen you say? that's concerning as that's my area too. Am on pretty high alert at the moment and sleeping very light, also got all the neighbours alerted too as you can't be too vigilant. Security is being beefed up as soon as possible haha, god help if I catch them at it!! Haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. That certainly looks effective, may have to have a go at making one Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Cheers for the heads up, I live the other side of Lincoln and there had been several reports to the police of a transit tipper up my street at 3am shining a lamp in peoples drives...I intend to catch them and get their plate this weekend so I too can inform the police in the hopes that they can do something haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. As above, what pickup do you have? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. I don't think anyone can honestly say they haven't don't this, it's rather funny watching someone do it and then seeing the disappointed/embarrassed look on there face when they realise hahaha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Not a large reduction by any stretch but I was over the moon with how it turned out considering it was only my third reduction. The spec was for a 20% reduction and thin, stupidly I didn't get a before picture Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. That is a smart landrover and very good conversion! How are those km2's, what the like on the road and how do they last? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. The 550xp is an awesome saw in my opinion, I run an 18" bar on mine and seems to do quite well with it. Means that when I need a larger saw up a tree I can just take that and save on the weight/ size of a larger saw. Sure it's a little slower but it's much easier to use and I personally feel safer with it, also have a 13" bar and my god does it rip!! Almost can't keep enough timber in front of it haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. And there was me thinking it would be a unanimous vote for a maul haha, so what's peoples reason for preferring an axe? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. This isn't a thread about what make of axe are better or anything like that, I'm just curious as to what people prefer to split with and their reason for the preference? Personally I prefer splitting with an axe. Just have a roughneck axe and everything I split is at max 10" thick but could be any size around. I find that swinging a heavy maul is just more effort for less output and to be honest, most of the time what I can't split with the axe usually isn't worth splitting but that just my personal thoughts Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Why on earth is he taking a run up?! Never seen that before and why is he trying to move the log, much easier to take a step to the side haha he's gonna be a long long time splitting 22ton haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Not even sure how much mine will be, can't see it being too bad though being 25 with 5 years no claims. Any suggestions on where's best to get a quote from? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Making little suggestion helps, I've only been at it a year yet have suggested quite a bit to some company's I sub to that have stuck and make life a lot easier, just things like folding the top of a tonne bag over so you can load it easier on clean up, it's amazing how many people don't do it. It baffles me why they don't. Keep your head about you and don't get too cocky so to speak, no one likes a clever clogs haha and listen to what you are told and take it all on board. As for the touchy subject of a phone. When I sub out I often find my self too far away from the truck for it to be an option to leave it in the truck so it stays with me all the time incase of emergencies, make your own judgement on that one but whatever you do, don't get tempted to use it just cause you have it, think of it as a first aid kit, only use it in an emergency. Finally...knuckle down, work hard, be safe and above all, enjoy yourself!! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. I agree with the above but like you I struggled to find an extra cab locally and within my budget, there always seems to be an extra premium on them , went for a double cab rodeo in the end and so far I'm very pleased Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. We towed it with an iveco daily and I'm not sure how many posts per hour for a single man but if it's any help we used to average 600-700m of stock fence a day between 2 of us (pig netting and 2 strands of barb) and that's from knocking the first strainer in to knocking the last staple in. It is a seriously effective machine once you get int a rhythm with it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. The one in that video is the exact model I have used and honestly you cannot go wrong with it. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. I have quite extensively used the protec tracked knocker and can honestly say if I had a lot of fencing to do I would have one! Great on slopes/steep ground and low ground pressure so doesn't make much of a mark. It's built on a tracked dumper so load it up with all your materials and off you go. I also made up some custom attachments for it for rolling out wire while you track and knock posts and also a way of tensioning the wire so cuts out the use of monkey pullers and saves a lot of time and effort. They are definitely the machine to have if you have a lot of fencing to do! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Thank you , will have a measure tomorrow Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. That would be good thank you, shall have a measure of the tailgate when I pick it up tomorrow Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. I would use it for all sorts but mainly chip and logs. Does the lh3000 fit standard pickups eg my isuzu rodeo? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Would people advise going for the heavy duty model or is the standard one fine? I'm just thinking about build quality and life expectancy Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. That's all the info I needed, shall get one ordered, thanks guys 👍😃 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. I have just got my self a truck and as it's a double cab I see no point in doing a tipper conversion so am weighing up other options and wondered what people thought about the load handler? Does it do any damage to the tail gate of the truck? Thanks in advance Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Basically the dmax has superseded the rodeo and the main differences are looks obviously, an extra half a ton towing capacity ad the ability to purchase an extra cab model Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Bf Goodrich km2 if I'm not mistaken Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
