  1. It's worked on MAM (maximum authorised mass) so basically if you have say a transit that is rated at 3500kg MAM (the weight of the vehicle and the load/tools/people) without anything in the transit you cannot tow anything if you have only a b licence as you are already at your 3500kg, hope this makes sense Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. To be fair he could have made the panels himself, I know a couple of very reputable company's near me that have their own saw mills etc and make all their own fencing but that price does seem a little steep Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Chippers

I think it depends, if your working for your self and it is your job then no, I don't think you do but if your subbing to anyone eg the site owner/dev company or anyone really, I think you do. I only say this as I haven't got a digger ticket but if I drive it for my self I don't need it yet if I drive for my dad for example, because I'm subbing, I do. Hope this makes sense. I believe that in your case, technically you should have a ticket to use the chipper. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  5. Thank you all for your kind comments . After loading with chip and logs I'm pretty damn sure it was above the towing capacity of the jimny by maybe 500kg however...despite it feeling like driving through treacle and a little soft on the back end it pulled it well, yes the trailer is braked and is rated for 2600kg gross, I intend to upgrade truck as soon as funds permit Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Here you go guys, my first job with this setup and it's going very well, a couple of minor tweaks needed but all in all I'm very pleased Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Haha great present and happy birthday. Love the idea of the Kelly kettle but not sure what situation I ever have to warrant one haha, may have to get one though as they are basically the manliest tetchy way to boil water hahahaha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Sound good Martin any ideas what were doing? and and thank you Matty , so pleased with it so far, hoping the tipper works the way it should haha, we shall see on Sunday hopefully Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Here's a couple of pics, not very good but will get some more tomorrow when the chippers on Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. In my honest opinion as someone that runs a 550 with 18"bar I wouldn't go any bigger. 18" is bordering too much for the saw, don't get me wrong, it's still nicely balanced and it pulls it nicely most of the time but I do find my self wanting for more power on an odd occasion. Personally I would stick an 18 on and manage with that for as long as poss till you can afford a bigger saw Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. As soon as it's all sorted I'll get a job booked in that I could do with you on Martin, will talk dates when I know a bit more. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Will have some pics up tomorrow hopefully, have literally just got finished fixing the plates to the sides, needless to say I never want to see another pop rivet for the rest of my life!! Made a couple of little additions such as some hooks on the tailgate to mount the ramps, nice and discrete storage and will also help to counter balance the weight of the chipper on the nose of the trailer. Will get some pics tomoz when it's light and hopefully should have it all wired up and tipping Sunday do will try and get a video uploaded when all that's sorted Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. I'm only just starting out so my experience levels arnt the best but I'm still winning some jobs over some of the more experienced arborist's in the area and most of them return to me for more work, one thing I get told quite often by clients is that they like my positive, enthusiastic and helpful approach. I don't think it's all to do with price as I know I've quoted a little more than some on some jobs, I think a lot of it is to do with your appearance. I suppose what I'm trying to say is in my opinion just stick to your guns and let others do as they please, as long as your happy, what else really matters? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Same question as above, why remove it? 8 metres is 4 metres out side what your insurance will state so shouldn't really be a problem, if it's a little large for your liking why not get a quote from someone to perform a reduction and thin? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Correct, or at least that's how I understand it, as I say, it applies to even the smallest of vans eg. Transit connect, Peugeot expert and Citroen berlingo Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. The speed restrictions apply to all commercials from berlingo vans to hilux/transit I believe, this should enlighten you a little https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. It shouldn't make a difference what vehicle your in, I seriously don't think the stationary cameras can differentiate between vehicles other wise all hgv drivers would constantly be getting done for speeding as the speed limit for them on a single carriageway is 40 and I have never seen one flashed at 56 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. We had to ring fence a school with this stuff, 868 mesh, 2.8m high and around 2 miles long, needless to say it got a bit boring by the end haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  22. Personally I would stay well clear of it, a mate bought one similar, used it once and it pretty much fell to pieces so sent it back. I would spend a little more and go for a small husqy or stihl to be honest or (I will get slated for this but what the hell) you could get a small McCullough...my old man has had one and used it regularly for years cutting logs with out any problems, been through maybe 4-5 bars and 3-4 chains a bar so has done a fair bit really, only cost him £99 too so a real bargain in my eyes Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Haha I love boxers, a mate of mine has one and I'm sure it's clinically crazy!! It can jump about 8 feet high vertically but can't seem to work out how to propel its self forward so a 3' high fence keeps the thing in haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. I climb on Yale imori with the cheap 8mm Marlow braid friction chord (£0.98 per metre) and get on really well with it Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Shall get a pic of the tree next fri when I'm back there and post it here Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
