  1. That's a good point, I look for old files stamped sheffield or newer files stamped save edge or nickolson. Not had a duff one yet.
  2. Have never really thought about it to be fair, not sold any yet haha. the blade on this one is full tang so only a couple of scales to pin on and shape. Next time I've got a couple of blanks ill send you some picks and see what you think. Would you rather a full tang or hidden tang style blade?
  3. That's pretty good for a first atempt, if you fancy having a go at making a blade from scratch there are plenty of vids to be watched, wouldn't bother buying new steel though, just gets some old files from a carboot, here's my most recent one, all including the handle material is made by my self
  4. Been on my mk2 for getting on close to 2 years now, no issues yet
  5. Got my self a maasdam rope puller from tree kit a month or so ago, not as tough as a tirfor type winch but does 99% of what I need to do and it's a doddle to transport and set up and chuck a pulley or two in the system and it'll pull a fair weight. Got a trailed mewp weighing just over 2 tonne stuck on a garden a week ago and was no bother getting it out with the rope puller, well worth the money in my opinion
  6. This sounds like good news to me! will give the foxes something to think about haha
  7. Had stein phantoms for 2 years, a new set of laces and I could continue using them but fancied a change so got some air streams in September. Although the air streams do feel a bit comfier they don't look as though they will last as long
  8. Good bits of kit in my opinion. Spent a fair bit of time in a 19m basked on a cabstar. Was presently surprised to see at the apf that there is a 25m available
  9. 395. The 660 is no competition, yes it's a newer design but won't cut anywhere near as well and probably won't be as reliable. On another note, my 390xp easily keeps with the 660 so it depends how big of a saw you require
  10. Here's one from today. Saw a box with haix on it so made a be line in that direction. Brand new in box with tags haix liability combat high. Ask the guy how much...£20 is the best I can do mate. Nearly snapped hos arm off haha. Bargain of the year for me
  11. Friend of mine had the same problem the other day but only when it gets hot, it's fine when completely cold. The issue is shoddy plastic/lack of heat shielding from the exhaust. Common fault with all the 660's I've used
  12. To be honest for 500 you should get something pretty decent for home owned use that's a damn site easier and much better for your body in the long run
  13. We have an alko 5 ton splitter and have used it quite extensively for nearly 3 years now without any problems. Was around £300 I think and for the money I can't fault it. Would definitely recomend for home owner use
  14. Nice video, very smooth and methodical. You been climbing long?
  15. Oh and it's done via a help to buy isa by the way
  16. Had a quick look into this also and it would appear you can save a maximum of 200 a month so would take 5 years to get the 3k they are offering, that's pretty poor unless you start saving at 16 if you know what I mean
  17. I'm sure I will get an srt setup at some point but in happy with my current system so what's the point in changing? Plus I have always been told that srt is for access only?
  18. Seems most suggest the rope guide, ill go with that then haha. Cheers for the input people
  19. I'm in the market for an adjustable friction saver and have it down to these two. Just wondering what people's thoughts were as to whether I really need to buy the pulley saver at double the price? Climbing on a zig zag by the way
  20. Haha that's tree stuff buddy
  21. They are uk based so there won't be any import duty
  22. On everything I have looked at it says "in stock" so one would assume they have it ready to dispatch
  23. Cheers Nathan, that's all I needed to hear. Will put a shopping list together then
  24. Only found them the other day and they seem to stock a lot of kit no one else does. Just wondered whose bought from them and how their service is?
  25. So do you think the steel is fatigued somehow from the manufacturing process?
